Since the Sanctum nerf has there been a lot less people renting.
Has the price of renting decreased as the means to pay for it has declined
Has this affected the strengh of nullsec alliances as some of their support has left.
My thanks for your valuable answers

I never understood renting. It only truly benefits the landlord. You generally get placed on border space where invasion occurs often and should a full-scale invasion occur, as a renter, you essentially become cannon fodder/buffer kill.
It's more cost effective and the relationship is less abusive if you join a preexisting corporation. |

Renting: whereby you use your holder's leftover space (not the best), get specifically targeted by roamers, have inferior status in politics, and get utterly abandoned in case of invasion. Oh, and you pay exorbitantly for this.
But I guess it's acceptable for those wanting to PvE in nullsec without worrying about the infrastructure, politics, or anything else, really. |

Hmm , I havent experienced any issues with renting...
1.) The russian are a powerhouse and protect their space well. 2.) I find it safer in 0.0 then in highsec... If it isnt blue its enemy. 3.) Rents based on astroid fields (more fields higher rent) U need atleast 4 good fields to raise industry index enough to get the hidden fields, then just maintain them... Ive grown extremely rich off of them. (all the a,b, c, and merco... u can mine) 4.) anomalies - easy isk, military index at 5 our system gets 3 havens,4 forsaken hubs, and 2 or 3 forsaken rally points. run each once aday and you have over 100 million isk in bounties... not counting salvage... I dont even bother anymore with salvage.. 5.) war.... our alliance is always war dec'ed but it means nothing in 0.0... pretty much pointless. Hand off your goodies to an alt for transport to highsec and they even become meaningless there aswell... 6.) Choose a good system, and rent is cheap, It takes very little effort to raise rent with corp tax.... corps split between ratters and miners ....quicker isk is ratting but our industry guys like their minerals...and when we build and sell carriers... rent is paid for months in advance.... 7.) local intel channels..... we get reports and track the neuts and blobs well before they get even close to our system... the russians are good at this....
I've found renting a very good experience...And by all rights , if you dont rent... you will not be in o.o long, atleast in our area of 0.0. The russians will remove you.... we just report locations and numbers and if possible ship types... and go back to ratting and mining....I've learned more in 0.0 about eve survival and game mechanics while avoiding all the highsec ganks and crap that goes on there... plus still enjoying its markets..... win / win. |

Us having Russian friends doesn't somehow make renter alliances any good. Are you sensitive about this because Brick used to be MM renters? The artist formerly known as Ladie Scarlet. |

The only reason you don't get curbstomped out in drone space is the lack of any stations for PVPers to dock in. No matter where you are, you have to do 40 jumps to even get into the center of the drone regions.
Can't blame them for being the first and only ones to see the true value of drone space tho. |

Renters are in my eyes, the cheap arse pieces of **** on the underbelly of my shoe. If you are incapable of fighting for your own space, you do not deserve it. Renter alliances are plagued by botters and the dreaded RMT overlords who rat 23.5/7 for months on end in relative peace.
Specifically, renters tend to be carebears, and I *hate* carebears, with a passion. Renters can all diaf in a fire as soon as I can fly this Loki; Shadow of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxDeathxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is going to have a real ******* problem to deal with. Notice a key phrase where he said money off bounties. Which means is renting out of non-drone 0.0 space which most are near NPC 0.0 or empire. People don't invade not because of lack of stations but because its not worth it.

LOL ..... 1.) not in drone space 2.) plenty of stations for alliance members, 3 stations within 5 jumps 8 or 9 in region all alliance stations... neuts cant dock. 3.) I do not fear neuts or blobs.... generally the russians kill them well far from us... and we already know there coming. 4.) A good isk base is required for pvp... this here alt and his alts fund my pvp.... 5.) havent paid cash for 8 accounts in almost a year... after realizing how rich you can get out here without any dangers...I can buy a plex per character every 4 or 5 days....but currently got to many on the market to need any... 6.) why would i waste my time defending my isk bank when i have the russians doing it for me....
standard day : set my miners to mining, put out eyes in good hunting systems for my pvp alts... await targets and maintain miners...If target shows attempt a trap and kill..... if not, maintain miners...After industry index secure, turn miners into ratters and start running the anomalies... still have eyes out in hunting systems.... generally by now ive trapped and killed 1 or 2 ... or on a bad day none or lost a ship or two.... eitherway its pvp and fun... meanwhile ratters still running anomalies... total time investment 2-3 hrs, total isk.... about 100 million in bounties if im lazy. Now inregards to miners, one viator can haul 350 thousand units of megacyte.... thats a billion isk if u want a fast sell... more if you dont care about instant isk... I fill a viator every 6 days...To me this is smart playing: * i play for free ** it funds my pvp alts without risk to them *** I have my own defense force (the russians) and local intel channels for extra safety...

[/quote] ya know, not to insult shadow of death or anything, i have some good friends who joined them, BUT:
i see goon-fleets and high-sec pvp-wannabes enter ssytems all the time and come back out two hours later not dead, only know this cause i was assembling PI on a alt at the time so was sitting AFK 400KM offgate.
also, my friends in shadow of death (well, they WERE, but capital systems recently went belly up i hear) CONSTANTLY complained about endless reds performing roams in the systems they mined in.
TL;DR russians can do to improve their security, it's good, but not the best. |

Dont rent. Some alliances are the community type, everyone pays a fee, it isnt ridiculous, but all systems can be shared/are shared therefor not a renter alliance.
and like the other guy said, join a pre-existing corp in the alliance. |
