Lo there, this thread is really only for the non n00bs out there (no offense to the n00bs), im not an old character, but i wouldn't say im a n00b. i can use TII heavy launchers, all TII sheild mods, Ect Im looking for a good PvP setup for the caracal, i know setup can change depending on circumstance, so assume the following, i will be engaging between, 20km to 0km, and i will be fighting against anything from frigs, cruisers to AF's. My set up atm is;
Hi- 4x TII heavy launchers - 1x named nos
Med-1x TII med sheild booster -1x TII sheild boost amp -1x TII EM resistance amp -1x TII invunerability Field -1x 20Km Scrammer
Low-1x PDU II -1x CPU Processor (i know it shames me to put it in too)
if any of you older guys out there have any suggestions for mod'ing that set-up or a new set-up if you could plz post here that would be great.

Edited by: Spuki on 20/01/2006 10:32:14 I tried to give you an advice in the other caracal thread. its not ment as on offence, so please dont get me wrong there.
Edit: You should try to figure out how missile damage works, how explosion radius, explosion velocity, target ships signature radius and the ships velocity influence your damage.
High damage missiles usually have big drawbacks when being shot at small or fast vessels.
Well, its nice to have a tank, but you wasted 4 or your 5 slots to it. So even if you are able to deal enought damage to a target, you wont be able to stop him from getting away. You have no way of forcing someone into webbing range and not even a webber equipped.

That T2 invuln costs more than the entire Caracal itself... -- Proud member of the [23].

Half arsed set up really..
I'd suggest fitting 4 x small tractor beam, 1 heavy named launcher.
cap recharger 2. 4 x invuln field 2...
then do what that cerb we popped the other night did... sit afk at a safe in 0.4 and have a nap.
I would suggest making it as cheap as possible rather than spending so much on all these mods, get a cerb if you are going to fit out a killer.. otherwise get budget items they do a decent job on caracal!

Messed with the Carac for a while now and seem to end up with one of two setups -
Anti-frig
High - 5 x assault Mid - large shield extender/web/resists/inv1 Low 2 x BCS
Sniper
High 5 x heavies Mid as above except med shield extender Low as above
The ship has to be regarded as expendable and is better in groups. Don't take on inties and be carefull with AF.

A Caracal with Heavy launchers and no Sensor Booster is like tea without crumpets. Whatever those are. Being able to shoot out over 70 or 80km doesn't do much good if you can't target past 60 :)

Personaly i wouldnt use t2 on a caracal, unless you can afford to lose it. Maybe change the nos for another heavy launcher, and put a sensorbooster on. I think caracal workst best in a gang, hang back and deal some damage.
If im up against a frig, i usually put one named target painters on, almost gives me full damage.
PS. Werent you that guy who attacked me in bosena?

Load a Cerberus up with tech II mods, but on the Caracal use only cheap-ish tech 1 mods.

5x heavy launchers
1x shield extender 1x sensor booster 3x ecm of choice
1x bcu 1x nanofiber
Very cheap setup and works well in a group with a tackler

Hit bigger stuffs: Heavy missles Caracal. Hit smaller stuffs: Rocket Caracal.
Oh yea, dont bother spending T2 stuffs on Caracals. You wont be surprise when you are called primary.

cheers guys, and yea gladius i am that guy and ty for the challenge last night right well i actually made a small change to my setup the other day anyway, had some pirate maller try and take me it was close but i sent him packing. the setup so far has taken on most other cruisers and won, also fyi im often in a gang with a rax or deimos (depends wot we intend to do) and a retribution so combined the fire power is ok and the retribution does the webbing and the rax paints and yes when you get shot down it is expensive but good fun (i have got gunned down twice so far and its cost about 50mil in total)
