Wow. That is amazing. You can tell not only their body mass but also their RL personalities, just by reading a website? You should be working for your countries intelligence services with skills like that. that is a pretty good skill :p I think it's working wrong though. Statistically speaking, someone that purposely griefs in games is more likely to be on the large side and a victim of bullying in real life. It's a way to escape the reality of their situation by mimicking the people that upset them in a place they feel they have power. I want sauce!! no really pretty please show me that statistic - even if that means you have to falsify it yourself (which every good statistic is..) Theyve done studies you know. 60% of the time it works everytime. |

I'm still catching up on this thread, and it is a delectable array of tears, might I add, and I'd like to add my two cents.
People call the NJO (New James Order as I am calling it this one time and never again because I'm having flashbacks to a certain R.A. Salvatore moment--DAMN HIM!) many things. Criminals, bullies, extortionists, smart players using game mechanics to their own ends, the best emergent gameplay hi sec has had for a while, tear manufacturers/refiners/distributors--and yes, I agree--they are all of that.
But they are also rulers of their own little fiefdoms. Not using this term lightly. As I understand it they tend to hang out MAINLY in ice belts (unless their MO has changed lately). In these belts they are the rulers. James 315 is the King of the New Order, and his Knights police his realm. If you want to work in his fiefs, you must pay his tax, or you will be punished.
This is NO different than Null Security Space. Well, actually, it is. No Moons, and the rent is WAY higher out there. 10 Mil for a year? It's like 50+ times that for a month. Or higher, dunno. Don't keep track of neo-BoB (CFC--wasn't Goonswarm's whole problem with BoB the whole Renter mentality? That, and Goons wanted everything? Eh, I don't follow Null politics. Except when juicy tears are involved.)'s rent prices.
There is a difference though--James and his kingdom is a whole lot harder to police than New BoB's space. Because of CONCORDOKKEN. New BoB can scan/close WHs, bubble gates, activate cyno jammers, use jump bridges, field capital/supercapital fleets. field fleets that might fly again if they aren't welped. For James and his Knights, every time they fire a weapon the KNOW they will be dying. So I salute the New Order.
They have staked out their space. It was always about 3 systems, though they do sometimes expand and contract depending on who is online, stocks, etc. Been a while since I had an alt in the Order. Make no mistake--when they're online, and they're holding the field against unregistered miners, it is their space. The Sov belongs to an NPC, sure. But those belts? Those are THEIR belts when they're active. So do something about it.
Please.
Oh, just wait until I can make some popcorn, k?
Then again, if people actually gave this some thought, and listened to The Goblin, they might actually be able to AFK mine in relative safety while/until after the New Order goes after softer targets. They may still be subject to bumping, but that's what setting an orbit/paying the locals their due is for.
Granted, I don't have the permit in my bio, but that's just because I don't live in hi sec anymore.
Miners are like this:

Now, you can be Vance Munsen lusting after your precious ice.....
and the Order can be Hitch.

If you're so upset at the organised crime content that James and crew are providing for you, then you've got a couple of options (note, the list is neither exhaustive nor in any particular order). 1. GB2WOW 2. Move to somewhere they're not (e.g. lowsec) 3. Organize a resistance that doesn't suck. 4. Pay them 6. ??? Oh and in addition to this, move to another spot within high sec. If they follow you, report them for harassment. CCP have clearly stated that while bumping itself is not against the rules, following people when they've made an attempt to move away is harassment. However, persistent targeting of a player with bumping by following them around after they have made an effort to move on to another location can be classified as harassment, and this will be judged on a case by case basis."
"Ideally you would move to other systems and more than just one or two jumps to avoid being found again quickly, requiring some effort to locate you again (i.e. through locator agents)."
Get from that what you want, but what's being said here is that you [the bumpee] will have to make an effort to move away from the system/area that is being targeted. So much so that it would require effort by the bumper to try and locate you again.
Also, seeing as the most recent posts were about the player who lost a plex in his cargo, your post is directed towards a miner getting bumped, not a hauler getting ganked for loots. But thank you for refreshing our memories! Abandon all hope ye who x up in fleet |

This is probably the best part .
I did follow the NO for some time. Bumping miners is just as interesting as mining rocks. But as gankers, they provide an excellent service to HS .
A healthy and thrilling feeling of anxiety is something to look out for. EVE is not about comfort. And last but not least: I'm a paying customer too. I do not share your opinions.

Oh good god ... I totally skipped that part (I have only trained tear collection L2)
I'll try to put this as nicely as possible:
EvE is most definitely not for everyone. If the game is causing you that much undue stress/anxiety, then leave. This is just a game, and should allow you to relax, or have fun.

After the first fifty or so morons that got Concorded while I laughed at them and collected the stuff from their wrecks, they've pretty much left my miner alone.

Players pointed out that on their own website CCP called miner bumping griefing.
CCP's response? They changed the website.
CCP spent all that money for bots to find bots. Don't really need the miner bumping farce to continue. Except maybe the comic value (seriously the New Order guys are dedicated to their RP which can lead to hilarious local chats).
