It strongly implies that there will be team roles which requires limitations where this kind of game has up to now been about building the biggest baddest machine you can.
I actually like that thinking. having a guy sprinting around in a raven doing NARC work in a squad would be cool

yeah I tried to help you but your nature made it through.
Sorry man.
Youd actually have had to you know PLAYED any of the multiplayer type Mechwarrior games with "friends"
You sound kinda like someone from WoW trying to talk like they know what theyre talking about it EVE
IE "stupid"
I tried
It sounds cool IMO but then I ACTUALLY LIKE WoT. "If the unfaithful would rage-quit, let them do so. And let not the gates of New Eden strike them 'pon the ass ere they leave." Quoth the Hillmar |

Take your own suggestion, bud.
It sounds like WoT for mechs. That would be pretty cool. And the closest we're likely to GET in line with a Mechwarrior MMO since FASA went dead (Ans apparently M$ sold the rights).

Somebody doesnt know who Smith n' Tinker is.
Ill give you a hint, the people who make up most of the company where in Fasa. Makes sense to sell the game back to those who handeled the game the best, Microsoft is that kind of publisher, Unlike EA over there that would buy a franchise and ruin it to ashes. RIP Westwood.
Also the game rights where not sold to S&T they where litterally given to them with a large sum of money from microsoft to get the game off the ground to the point where you saw that trailer which its whole pupose was to get more money supporters onboard. Microsoft would have loved an xbox 360 game but arent getting it anymore and with no lawsuits flying over that one I guess they managed to make MS understand that a real mechwarrior game only belongs on one platfform, The pc. Unless S&T pulls a Chrome Hound and gives us a 100 button controller that looks like a mech's interior controls complete with eject button.

The thing was awsome, it had six foot pedals with forward back roll and back roll into it. Two Joy sticks one throttle and 3 consoles full of buttons for various switches and lights. Including the all important eject button which deletes your game if you dont press it in time.

Well, last I heard, someone named Catalyst Games had the Btech rights as theyre making the RPG lol
huh Btech, being a part of MW yet the rights are sold/given/w/e away to two different people?
But yeah, I havent followed the rights distribution after M$ got them, really. I assumed theyd sold them, not given them away.
wait... what lawsuits? That the one from the Battletech ppl cause they were using the mechs that were basically jacked from the TV show? Id heard of something like that killing MW5 "If the unfaithful would rage-quit, let them do so. And let not the gates of New Eden strike them 'pon the ass ere they leave." Quoth the Hillmar |

in all honesty, a controller not unlike Steel Battalion's would be enough.
and yes, it has the eject button too

Man, I had fun playing the crap out of MW2 on Sega Saturn. And the Crescent Hawk's Inception... wow. I recently tossed a whole bunch of old 3.5" disks, one of which had that on it. Can't even find a 3.5" floppy drive anymore, let alone a modern computer that will play a game designed for a 286.
Nice to hear there will be some decent stuff available this winter. "How do you kill that which has no life?" |

Just read the most recent post. Making it sound really nice. Deeper combat level like eve. (Possible rip off even one might say, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.) However with actual bon a fide skill involved instead of dice rolls!
http://mwomercs.com/news/2012/01/75-dev-blog-2-information-warfare Also the thought of communication jamming sounds cool in theory, but whats to stop people from using their own vent server and not jamming comms? Perhaps rely of spotting info between mechs. |

All those words add up to nothing more than an over-complicated explanation of a shared intel minimap.
I just can't get my head around this genre. It's such a simple and basic game. A shooter with a torso pivot added. Yet everyone who talks about it and every article about it reads like they think they're playing chess on a roller coaster. |

true enough many MMO's hype of things as revolution rather more of iteration on the existing. However this game is Ftp last i checked so the most you waste is time, and bandwidth.
As for the mini map thing that will be only part of it. Think as eve's interface however instead of a spread sheet you have it on a hud.... And if eves spreadsheet didnt tell you the kind of type, and class how different the game might be as you'd need a module to identify class, and type. Or you'd need say a field CS to ID said ships and then relay that info to the rest of the fleet. And instead of current dice roll ECM you'd have ECM that jams that information.
Sounds more fun to me. Granted this is all speculation.
