easy go to a solar system, choose a jump beetwen 2 stargates for nearly 44 Au as short.
WARP!!!
move your mouse over the top speed arrow and check how much Au per sec it reach !!

i've been doing that. but some ships like indies warp at 4.5 can cruisers go at 3. i just thought it was strange. i also wanted to know the warp speeds of ships i cannot fly yet, and af's, interdictors and transport ships.

Edited by: Leshrac Shepherd on 22/01/2006 04:37:34 Base warp speed is 3AU/s, so, using the warp speed multiplier from the database you can guess the warp speed of any ship, here you have some:
T1 Frigates:
2 - 6AU/s
Assault Ships
2 - 6AU/s
Interdictors:
3 - 9AU/s
Haulers:
1.5 - 4.5AU/s
Interceptors:
4.5 - 13.5AU/s 3 - 9AU/s (depending on kind)
Heavy Assault Ships:
1.25 - 3.75AU/s
freighter:
0.25 - 0.75AU/s
dreadnought:
0.50 - 1.5AU/s
EDIT: I see you wanted to know the warp speed for the transport ships. It is 9AU/s for the Blockade Runners and 3AU/s for the Deep Space Transports. ---------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

there must be more then warp speed at work though because my Caracal has more Cap then my Badgers(Mk1 and Mk2) and even my Mark 1 can warp farther.

I am not sure on the math so please forgive me if I am wrong.
I believe a ship warps based on a percentage of cap.
For instance ship A takes 50% of total cap to warp 1 au. So it doeen't matter what your total cap is. Because if you are jumping 3 au, your ship wont make it.

There is a db value called warpCapacitorNeed which for all battleships are for example: 0.000000138

So if you have a ship with a lot of cap, but it requires 80% per au to jump, it is not jumping far. Where as a ship with a little cap may only need 10% per au to jump.
I think you canajust this will skills, but I am not sure wich ones.
No, distance you can warp is not dependant of your cap %, but of your total available cap. That's quite easy to verify: take a ship, go in a system where you can test on very long warps (like 130 AU). Try the warp, and check the distance you managed to warp with your full cap. Now fit a MWD, you'll warp for a shorter distance. Fit a cap battery, you'll warp for a longer distance.
What determines the distance you can warp is indeed as said above the warpCapacitorNeed attribute (and of course your available cap when starting to warp ). Hence why the manticore with 0.00000268 warpCapacitorNeed warps less far than the hound with 0.00000224 even though it has more cap (214 vs 200). Mass might be a factor too, 'cause warpcapneed is not that much higher on the manticore, but it's much more limited in the distances it can warp (manticore has 7.5% more cap, warpcapneed 20% higher, but warps at nearly 1/3rd of the distance only). ===== !!! Maybe mass is taken into account in the capacitor calculation? ---------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |
