Check your spelling in your title.
That and your title is requesting 8 strip miners, and your post is requesting 5 strip miners. Which is it?
From there, what is the need to have a capital size miner (that can use strips)?
If CCP would add ALL ores to every sec, then I could see how adding a capital mining ship into the game would be productive because you would need to have a difference in production from highsec to nulsec, but since CCP decided to give more valuable ore to nulsec, there is no need for this ship.

Since CCP has already said that nothing will out mine the hulk, that will be the limiting factor here. It could mine on the scale of a hulk and provide another function, I.e. refining, logistics, and/or defense. |

We do not need a new capital mining ship. If anything, a capital mining laser with the same yield as a strip miner, i.e. a dread with comparable mining yield to a HULK. Can easily tank belt rats, can jump between systems, can fit several mining upgrades. Max yield would be equal to a max yield HULK with a full flight of max skilled T2 mining drones. Still needs ORCA or Roqual support, and a place to dump the ore.
It would fit with CCP's statement they will not release another ship that could out mine the HULK, but adds much null sec utility for miners, and some nice kill mails for those that hunt them.
But then again, that would allow Titans to fit 5 or them, which would allow them to mine more than a HULK.
Has anyone ever checked if the siege module boosts mining yield of lasers? I assume it does not. I am just thinking if it did, a Moros with T2 siege (840% boost) would be equal to a Rokh with 25 mining lasers rather than 8, and could fit more MLU II's. Pretty impressive even without a capital mining laser.
I am sure Chribba can confirm it does not, The Veldnaught would be pretty sweet if it did. |

Even with max skills, best modules, best implants, and boosts, the mighty veldnaught cannot contend with the Hulk. Mining is fine as it is, a steady income to nullsec bears that can read their intel channels and watch local; or a steady fountain of tears for me to lick out of their cracked open pod. |

Even I have to say "Dislike".
I'm not sure how many people would use capital ships just for mining (other than Chribba of course) - unless you are looking for Rorqual sized mining modules.
It does suck to lose a character who could be mining, instead of boosting in an Orca or Rorqual, which affects the profitability of smaller gangs.
Perhaps a deployable structure in a future expansion which is a big deep core drilling rig ? l8r \o/ |

Rorq + POS + BLOPs + Covops/BR/Carriers(as needed for Hulks/Macks)
Light Cyno, bridge BRs in, set up POS, light cyno, Jump/bridge everything else in, start mining.
With BRs, you can do it all without leaving any capitals hanging around outside a POS for any significant amount of time. This is a cheaper (cause it's guaranteed to take fewer capitals), easier to train (again, fewer cap pilots), and safer (once again, fewer caps) way to accomplish everything your capital mining ship's gonna be able to do. I definitely won't use a ship of this kind for mining. It will be too high risk seeing as it will get to warp much slower than the already slow mining ships and be a super juicy target for gankers. Very bad idea! or a very good one if you're the ganker. hmmm... |

Such a mining ship would would need to be a high risk to maintain the balance. it would still be highly used deep inside blue territory where miners do not get ganked.
Again I say, not a new mining ship, just give us capital mining lasers. or make the dreadnaught siege module affect mining lasers. either way would give us a nice mining ship with capital class tank, and a very juicy target for gankers, a win win in my book. |

Yes yes and again YES.
50 % bonus to strip miner yeld per level. BIG, GIGANTIC cargo hold.
It needs to be using some "capital reconfiguration module" with 15 minute cycle during this time you cannot jump/warp but you get additional 100% bonus to your strip miners.
I want this kind of ships sieged on nullsec belts ;) Base hull price 4b.

And drop the bottom out of industry completely, meaning that the only people who will bother to mine will be the bots, since every player would make more money belt ratting in highsec. |

ye good luck with that unless you're gonna mine, miners don't mine to build ships they do it for profit, building ships is extra profit, but yea let's do your stupid idea. |

add in a rorq for bonuses and some haulers (Itty 5 is fine here) and you're golden in low/null/w-space. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |
