Hello my dear back-stabers, liars, and cheaters. Isk pinchers and blower uppers of n00b pods!
So, I am a little bored, and had this thought creep into my spiderweb filled head.
Is it possible to take a look at the research UI, and make some changes to it. What has been bothering me a lot of late, is trying to do ME on a number of BPos. Trying to find the best ME to reduce the % of waste for each one. Looking up the MEs on different sites and getting different answers. What I am wondering, would it be a favorable thing to change the ME/PE UI and system to say via a slider bar or other feature that would tell you the time it would take to research that ME level as well as the % reduction in waste (the following idea doesn't seem to support this as well as i thought, but leaving it anyway so there are two ideas present).
So say Antimatter Hybrid Charge M: (Hours being the collective whole) 10% = 0 ME 9% = 10 ME 1 hour 8% = 20 ME 2 hour blah blah blah 1% = 90 ME 12 hours 0% = 100 ME 16 hours.
So a person could say, Research 10ME at a time for 1 hr chunks, and take 10 hours to max out. or shoot for the entire max ME in one go.
Some BP we know that months to reduce them to 1% waste, and so this scaling UI would indicate this for us. So a Frigate might run in 5 ME sections. While a Battleship would run in 1ME segments, but no matter the time, we always know that 10 ME = 1% reduction in waste. A frigate might take you say an entire week to reduce the waste to 0% while a BS could take months.
Food for thought! xoxo Amarisen Gream

Most of the different Answers are probably based on different versions of the database that they are working from, or differences in the way that they round numbers.
From http://wiki.eve-id.net/Equations Perfect ME Formula Perfect ME = FLOOR(0.02 *BaseWasteFactor * MaterialAmount)
You also have the general rules of thumb for various modules and Blueprints where you balance the research time with the ME level Most people just use ME 50 for most modules, unless they intend to Mass Produce them, normally takes about 3 days of POS lab time and overs a good research to wastage reduction ratio |

Yeah. I've been running most of my things to ME 50. Checking the % of waste and going from there.
My big issue is. The Ships have a much higher amount of minerals compared to say Hybrid ammo. So the amount of ME to reduce the % of waste is much much higher. And the ships ME research time is much much greater.
So why can't we just have a set 100ME = 0% waste. Then adjust the times.
If it took a say 2 weeks to reduce an freighter BPO per each 1%, your looking at 20 weeks to get 0% waste. Someone might not want to spend 20 weeks reducing it that much. When say 4 weeks with a 2% reduction drops the most expensive component of the freighter by 1. So instead of 10 100 million ISK units. it now takes 9 100 million ISK units. xoxo Amarisen Gream
