nice i read the full article, sounds like a good idea, i could have used such hands on do this dont do that training when i was starting out. Also the fitting, thinking back to my ship with overdrive injector + expanded cargohold or my rail/blaster exequror... even the fact i didnt know about orbiting in combat.
When i started eve i only knew 1 thing for a fact, which was to not touch something that was yellow - not much for a rookie to start with lol |

It was literally a full time job when I ran E-UNI, and I suspect they will have a significant problem finding enough volunteers to keep this running it for no reward. My inbuilt sense-maker machine wants to ask:
How will noobs know that they should be reading devblogs in general, and specifically this devblog, in order to learn that there will be live training sessions?
And failing that, will the events be advertised at the new players channel?
(Anyway, from now on I'm going to brag about how i do play a game that requires that the devs themselves teach to players how to play it... EVE is that hardcore, harr harr! ) The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

Hope that will help rookies, not to give up EVE, after been raped on their search for a corporation. Like Aura told me, in the last lesson "pilot, now go and look for a corporation".
That training parties should not only help rookies, to learn how to enjoy the games in the sandbox, but also give CCP some ideas how to improve or at least repair Auras intelligence.
I will watch it, to see if there are also training lessons for pilots who prefer building ships instead of shooting all they can. Creating artificial intelligence and drafting spacetime maps is not a game, its a job for the whole humanity. |

Sounds good, all I would like to say to CCP is please have a think about "after the class" and some directions you can point people in such as the Agony classes (if people want more training in that area e.g.) or E-Uni, Brave Newbies, RvB etc. |

Event will be advertised in rookie chat, help chat, npc corp chats, as well as potentially ingame news announcement and other means. So even newbies not seeing this devblog "should" get some form of notice. Mangala Undocked |

This is a great idea, When I initially started playing Eve I only lasted a month or so i didn't get hooked until the second try. New player training would help a great deal imo.
It took me well over a year before i started reading dev blogs and forums, playing guides were only introduced to me by corp mates. introduce them to dotlan and eft etc. The new game launcher has made some of this information a click away, great work.
Identifying roles for the low skilled PvP pilot is also a good one. Fast tackle, EWAR, Scout, etc. Sooner you identify a ship line path you want to follow the better... i have a a lot of early misplaced SP which could have been avoided with the correct guidance.
My advice is when in doubt train some drone skills ;) |

If in doubt, train basic tanking skills and core skills is my advice to newbies.
Can't go wrong with having the skills to fit either a t2 armor or t2 shield tank (as the ship you are using may require).
Then pick one race's ships and experiment with different classes. Took me a while to find out that I prefer cruisers. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. Say NO to GM-player collusion - Boycott SOMER Blink |

It seems that the first half of your list (October) could also benefit those who want to do PvE content but the title of the seminars (Player vs Player Combat) will probably discourage them from participating.
PvE is easy to get into. Everybody starts with missions.
PvP is where the tutorial love is needed. I did PvE for the first 18 months and it took a lot of effort to get onto the PvP track. PvP is MUCH more rewarding and should be supported from the start. Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec. |

Dev access to a new type of chat channel which can show up in your battle info scroll but would persist for longer amount of time would help both these type of classes, live events and Sisi testing. How hard would it be to implement? |

Directing players toward EVE Uni, Agony Empire, Brave Newbies, RvB and other corporations is what will be covered in our "Progression" sessions at the end of each track. We are going to go with very very basic instruction, stuff that I believe would be considered entry level even for people like EVE Uni. Additionally, we want players to get exposed to social activity when many of them would not be without this initiative. We love the rookie-friendly organizations and we certainly will be supporting them with this and other things in the future.
As for the PvE vs PvP, we will be covering PvE-related activities in more depth with future tracks. I believe our next one will likely cover Exploration and how to do it. We also have plans to cover topics such as Resource Gathering, Manufacturing, and Trading. We know a lot of people don't want to PvP, never will PvP, and nothing we do will get them to willingly PvP. But they might be drawn into the idea of building their own manufacturing empire, so we want to encourage and teach that as well.
As for training rookies being a full time job, well. Yes. I am an employee of CCP and this will be pretty much a full time job for myself and the others involved in the initiative. EVE Online/DUST 514 Community Representative GÇ+ EVE Illuminati GÇ+ Fiction Adept

This is a great idea. Just one question, does the training for 'new players' just include people who are genuinely new to the game, or does it also include amnesiac illiterates like me who have been playing for 4 years but still know nothing? |

My big questions, and likely already asked (at work so ability to scroll through pages of forums is limited)
1. What is to stop people from coming in and interrupting, suiciding folk etc etc 2. Is there potential for this to be held in polaris to prevent/reduce such issues (would be cool) 3. Are non trial/first month players invited? I for one would enjoy covering things officially to make sure ive not missed anything out! 4. Will fitted ships/modules/etc be provided for players? I would imagine some new players will struggle to purchase things?

If these have 1: They have already said no disruption of that nature will be tolerated. Warning first, followed by appropriate GM intervention as the situation warrants. One assumes that goes from banning people from the chat channel up to "possibly" including bans and/or penalties if they refuse to back off.
2: No idea, but it sounds like this will be held on tranquility for ease of access.
3: I think anyone is invited to attend.
4: Good question. They could do it either way, although it would only be necessary for those sections where actual combat is going to happen. Most likely these first classes will only require a frigate (even a noob frigate) to go over the mechanics. More advanced classes involving combat might find a need, although they'll have to be careful that people aren't simply there to milk a free ship. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

If these have
1.) If someone disrupts the fleet... kick them from TS, Kick from Fleet, and primary the fool. Then tackle his POD and hold it there until you are done lecturing, at which point you sacrifice his pod while giving thanks for the target of opportunity!
2.) Such issues are part of the game, and learning how to deal with it is too.
3.) Probably... but that's up to CCP.
4.) I hope not! A big part of learning to PvP is learning to accept the inevitable loss of your ship. A frigate is very cheap, and you can fit a very combat capable frigate for less than 1.5m isk. I see no reason for CCP to supply you with frigs.
True story, we once had a 50-man Frigate gang smartbombed to death in highsec while running one of our classes.. These make good stories, and provide excellent discussion points.
