I have not really dabbled in the WH side of eve, I have always wondered how WH corps setup their POS's to where people cant just loot everything out of them and leave or to where people cant have ships stolen etc etc.
basically how WH corps make their stuff secure. |

Bob is the almighty. He is also the answer to your question. Simply setup your POS and let Bob guide you. If he is satisfied, he might whisper you about the personal hanger array.

My corp includes people who have ganking and awoxing in their history. Since we all know what terrible people we already are, we know whatever is in the POS is likely to eventually be stolen or blown up. I'm hoping it will make it easer to cope with the loss when it inevitably happens. Hey CCP, please slush my fund like you did for SOMER Blink. |

The BEST thing you can DO...
Create an Alliance... and make every member create its own corp.... so only they have access to the "CORP ROLES" ... THE END!!!!
Its hard on trialists but you can use an "incubator" corp with very limited roles......
also you suffer under the loss of not having corp bookmarks.....
beyond that .. there is never a safeguard against theft .. UNLESS you have a good "THEFT Reimburstment Programm" My mind does not reflect my corp ... it just shows you what they care about...

Talocan United covers POS security quite well. It doesn't mention the new personal hanger. In general I'd advise the following:
0) Use the new personal hanger
1) Restrict untrusted folks to a few tabs in the corp hanger, and one of the ship maintenance arrays . Stock this array with cheap haulers, cheap salvagers, and a few cheap disposable pvp ships the corp uses. Encourage people not to bring a lot of ships beyond the site running and pvp ship they use, and simply donate haulers and the like to the corp. If they are doing PI they should be keeping it in cans or a hauler.
2) Restrict the trusted rank and file to a single tab in the corp hanger, and another ship maintenance array. If you end up with too many people add more corp hangers assign people to corp hangers use a renamed bookmark to note who owns what tab in what hanger. Note that 2 people assign to the same tab and different hangers can access each other stuff. Assign people to the same tab as the person who vouched for them.
3) Create a trusted rank for 2-3 people you know personally. These folks have access to the tab where you store
4) Don't let massive amounts of sleeper loot build up. Sell it, and pay out your corp. Losing a couple days of sleeper loot is no big deal if people know they have more isk comming in a few days.
5) Have regular spring cleanings to remove random crap when you have a good route to a trade hub.
6) Encourage people to sleep in their most valuable ship. Personally I always long off in an Orca with my most pricey T3s, valuable PI and sleeper.
7) If you corp gets too big break off it into an alliance and put up a new POS.
8) All manufacturing and research happens in a different POS and corp.
Look into the new what's hanger thingy it for newbies.

Well the way my corp does it is we have the personal array and we give rights to folks to use the SMA. to keep their ship safe we have them put their ship in the personal array (which will take up alot of space) and when they want to launch their ship they put it in the SMA and start flying. Before that it was the trust system but it only worked because we all knew were eachother lived
Another bad thing about using the personal array is that if anybody leaves anything in it you cant unanchor it and have to shoot it to take down the POS "The stone exhibited a profound lack of movement." |

Whatever you do, do NOT let Senn be the one to get your DNA sample. His method for doing so is a mix between torture and extremely invasive surgery.

It doesn't mention the PHA because the alliance dissolved before the PHA came out, and Nathan Jameson hasn't updated it since around that time. That said, PHA is the way to go. |

You guys are all high. PHA is worthless.
Everyone with their own POS creates other problems, i.e. directorship being a recruit's POSbitch. It gets old fast.
Alliance // Recruits in their own corp is safe, but a total nightmare for bookmarks, as CCP has not seen fit to make them common at alliance level.
Follow the TALUN guide, it does a decent job.
... also, being a decent corp that people are less desirous to steal from is helpful. Failing that, I keep reading about the PITD theory. If you can't punch them in the ****, don't trust them. Seems solid to me.

Good advice already given. I feel it's also important for players to keep assembled ships (mainly any expensive ones) inside their tab rather than leaving them in the SMA. This does take up alot of space though, but you can always switch from a corp hanger to a large ship array for more space. With only 7 tabs i personally feel that limits security to 7 players per POS. Sure, you can setup another storage area in the same POS, but as already mentioned you're going to have people that end up having access to eachothers tabs. By having seperate passworded POS' you can limit this risk further, as long as the people using each are the only ones that have the password. Though if the password gets leaked, they can still access their counterparts stuff.
Needless to say, CCP really needs to sort out POS security. Making the personal hanger alot bigger, and making it possible to actually move stuff between characters there would go a long way to making them actually viable. Doing something similar with the SMA would also be great. These are just band aids for the true issues with POS management though, with even more fixes being needed to allow people to research and manufacture without putting everything at risk. Hopefully, they will actually release an expansion someday that fixes these core issues, but I'm not holding by breath.
Wormhole corps are the main target these days for corp scammers. They know of these weaknesses, and can get a massive payout with little effort. Compaired to the traditional corp scam, it often takes time and trust building to gain the roles and responsibilities required to gain access to the good stuff. With wormhole corps being held back by limited security options, its often easy to clear out a SMA for easy isk, or better yet end up with an important role enabling them to take everything they can get their hands on. Post with your main, like a BOSS! |
