Why did they change the Nighthawk to a drake model? What is the reasoning behind this, it was one of my favorite ships in the game :( also after just releasing a navy version of the drake why make another ship with that hull? I would have rather seen a completely new hull then a rehash of the drake. I'm sure I am not the first one to bring this up but its a sad day...

all CS are combat CS now.
Missile ships get missile model, drone ship gets drone model, gun ship gets gun model.

My point is that it has been this way, why change the model, sure maybe it should have been but its not and now we have 3 ships with the same hull. Though I guess that means the Vulture is going to stay a Ferox hull then? |

I don't really get it either? What was wrong with the Ferox model and why does the Drake model 'make more sense as a command ship'? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoavH8xbrPE |

literally this
Jack Miton wrote:combat CS gets combat BC model. it's a no brainer that they should have done years ago.
think of the Eos , its getting the myrm model, not the brutix one, since, you know, drone links/etc
makes more sense on a myrm than on a brutix "What you don't get is that EvE is the most handholding, casual game ever. It is like farmville. No competition for people that want to put time in it. EvE is the most casual game of all times." - Caesarion Prime 2013 |

The command ships were created before the tier 2 hulls were.
The prophecy was a tanky gun boat with no damage bonuses. The Harby became a gun boat all about damage. The brutix was a glass cannon gun boat. The Myrm became a drone boat with epic tank. The ferox was a rail boat. The drake became the missile boat. The cyclone was one of those weird mixes of everything, missiles, guns, drones. The hurricane became a well defined gun boat.
Some of these have changed slightly over the years, but it's clear that these newer hulls were well suited to match with the two styles of command ship each race had. The Drake is a Lie |

If you are going to complain, do it in the relevant thread. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Yes. It would be one thing if they changed it slightly or updated its look, its another thing to change it too a completely different model. Since we have zero visual customization over the ships we fly changing the way it looks is a big deal, especially someone who put a lot of real time training into flying that ship. |

They will likely be changed again as CCP starts their initiative to make specialized hulls look more specialized... more than just changing the paint job.
That's going to take quite some time though, and will also likely involved some more experiments with moveable hull geometry, at least in some cases. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Players have been asking for this change since the Tier 2 BCs have been added. It's only now that CCP has gotten around to addressing that request.
Sure roles have changed since the original requests, but that is the nature of things.

Why even bother with changing the hulls if they are going to make unique hulls for them later on? Seems like a waste of time too me. |

Why didn't they just make a new hull for it. I mean I'm ok with it but it seems a little cheap. They had a chance to make some really cool new hull models then again maybe they saving those for later on new ships coming out. Blue

Sure Drake looks ok, it looks like a weapons platform, and I even get why they did it. But the Ferox looks like a command ship to me. I know the Vulture is still there but the Nighthawks paint job was amazing with with the Ferox hull it really worked. |

That's the nature of the game. Things change.
Many of us still like the old scorp model over the new one. The old one was more evil looking. The new one is just too blah.
There is only one constant in Eve, change.

When the CS models get redone to support their t2 status...how do you not know that the Nighthawk drake will not look awesome? For all we know when it gets unveiled it will be the sexiest thing in the game since the new Mega!
Sure, the nighthawk drake looks like a Spanish tile with a racing stripe NOW, but who knows what the future holds.... Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

It would be cool if they completely changed it too a new model, but its going backwards, we just got a navy drake no need for another one. They need to at least give us the ability to have custom paint schemes. There is literally no reason for us not to have this since in almost every other game you can customize your car, player, ship, etc. |

Whilst yes, I thought the Nighthawk was pretty awesome looking as a Ferox... OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG DAT DRAKE NIGHTHAWK!!!
I know what I am skilling for! What a beauty of a ship! Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |
