Wast fleets of drakes used to terrorize 0.0 then people moved on to the Tengu. Falcons were the bane of small gang pvp for a long time and are still very good. Just because they are less popular for one niche aspect of the game does not make the whole race bad. If you are a one trick pony limited to incursions by all means sit in the corner and sulk .....or train something that caters more to your "special" play style. everyone who is serious about PVP, at least to those I talked to, all pick Gallente, Minmatar or Amarr ships. Caldari are typically DEAD LAST. Always.
Erm.. reallly?
These people you are talking to.. I would suggest to find others as they seem to be talking out of their backsides.
Couldn't tell you how many Rail Tengu fleets I have come across in the last few weeks. |

Wait... you've just described Broadsword. Anyway, about Caldari... Chimera is the best ship for fixing POS-es. Blackbird is useful in small t1 cruiser gangs. It helps new players get into pvp and not lose every fight. Nighthawk and Tengu were good for PvE... before all the nerfs that happened recently. Golem is now the king of PvE and with Rubicon buffs + Bastion module it will become a default for many mission runners. Rokh can be very scary in small BS gangs or even for solo PvP, as demonstrated in one of my favourite EVE PvP vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0FdO7pjMkY.Rhea has the biggest cargohold of all jump freighters. Moa is still the ugliest ship in the game (that counts for something too ) Dual Medium anci boosted Hawk is pretty decent choice for a frig fight. And lastly, the mentioned Falcon, if you limit it to gangs of 10 players or less.
Naga is an outstanding Skirmish fleet sniper.

I guess those of us into PvE don't matter a whit.
Regardless, Caldari are best for the Level 4's and DED Sites. "Who thinks it's normal to kneel down to a naked man who's nailed to a cross? It's like a bad leather bar." -- John Waters |

cyndrogen wrote:There isn't a SINGLE ship that anyone considers taking to incursions, except maybe the RNI, guess how many FC will pick RNI over a Vindi or a Mach. So the RNI gets picked occasionally - and I know that the Golem will occasionally feature...
So how do they compare to the take up on Apoc Navy Issues, Megathron Navy Issues and Tempest Fleet Issues? Surprisingly the number of (at least shield fleet) FCs who will pick any of these over a Nightmare, Vindi or Mach are similar at best to those who will select an RNI (statistic unsupported by empirical evidence).
So the Amarr, Gallente and Minmatar are also the worst race in terms of Incursion take-up... Except that the Basilisk and Scimitar are always finding spaces in a fleet...
So what you're really complaining about is not how Caldari are "worst" but how heavily prefered the Amarr-Caldari, Gallente-Minmatar and Minmatar-Gallente Pirate ships are better than the Navy faction ships (which, incidentally, they're supposed to be).

Anyone want to discuss how Caldari are awesome? Can you think of one thing we are good at besides losing ships due to poor damage projection?
I could write a list but on the whole there are a lot of good PvP ships in the Caldari line up. My personal T1 favourite is the Moa which is just such a good shield brawler although I have a soft spot for the nano Caracal.
As to T2 got to go for the Cerebus, HAMs at that range are very nice and I'm a great fan of the blaster Harpy. NBSI shall be the whole of the Law |

Offer you good corporate healthcare for choosing the right side. ;) Actually, I dislike the Caldari philosophy, but I loves the sight of missiles flying off to offer free hugs and cuddles. |

For PvP, you have the Merlin hull (which is great in its t1 and t2 version). You have the Caracal cruiser and the Cerberus as t2 variant, you have probably the most all around T3, and the best recons. The Naga and Rokh are great rail platforms.
Then there is of course still the Drake, Nighhawk, Raven, ... all great ships. |

Nobody sane engages a Rook solo.
The Blackbird, Falcon, and Scorpion are by far the most PITA ships in EVE [I'd rate the Dominix right below them.] The Kitsune is getting a buff in Rubicon.
The Rokh is under appreciated as a sniper platform, especially since the advent of MJD.
The Naga is an impressive sniper too, but with far less tank, and much higher speed and maneuverability than the Rokh. Less expensive too.
The Merlin and Harpy are both beastly frigates. Deadly with blasters [the blaster Harpy is the ship you are most likely to find me in at any given time], and excellent kiters with rails.
Though Scimitars are popular, Basilisks are also used in shield fleets... even Incursion fleets.
The Onyx is a well respected HIC, on par with the armor tanked Devoter. The Onyx can also be setup to have a significant passive tank too.
The Caracal is the bane of all frigates and destroyers. Quite possibly the ship most feared in all of EVE by small hull pilots.
Drake, Tengu, Nighthawk.... need I say more about these?
Though a glass cannon with limited range, with proper support a torp Raven is a very dangerous ship.
I know I missed a few, but the point being that Caldari do have a useful line-up. Of course all ships are just tools in EVE, so they may not be the tools you are looking for. |

I can fly nearly every subcap in EVE, and I find over 25% of my ships end up Caldari.
I never fly Caldari missile boats, mind you. Can't freaking stand them, they are so utterly boring. However, their hybrid platforms tend to outperform Gallente due to having actually useful bonuses, and they basically make the best ships when it comes to scanning and EWAR. I've got a soft spot for the Manticore too, you can squeeze a lot out of that ship. |

T1 Caldari ships that I've seen a fair amount of while in Nulsec and FW space: Condor, Griffin, Kestrel, Merlin, Cormorant, Blackbird, Caracal, Moa, Drake, Naga, Rohk, (Battle) Badger
T2 Caldari ships that I've seen a fair amount of while in Nulsec and FW space: Manticore, Hawk, Harpy, Cerberus, Falcon, (T3) Tengu
That isn't even considering the use the faction ships have, nor the fact that the Charon and Rhea are generally considered the best of the freighters and jump freighters.
Just because you don't see them in Incursion fleets doesn't mean much of anything; they're still used quite heavily in PvP, and let's face it: the Golem and Navy Raven Issue are both extremely popular mission boats, as well. Ransoms are accepted in Isk, Ships, Mods, and Dolls. |

As a general subcap pilot, as well as a occasional visitor of the incursion scene, all I can say is this...
Find an FC who isn't worried about the isk per hour, and likes to be chill and have a good time in comms. Or FC your own, similar setup.
Because I cannot stand the "elitism" of the incursion scene, when I find myself talked into running the godforsaken things...I use a Rattlesnake, merely dubbed, "Elitist Prick PVE."
Ironically, it can lay down about 1k dps with just Garde's, and with the no-tank setups of most incursion shield fleets....I have 4 slots for utility left after 2 Fed Navy Omni's and an Invuln of your choosing.
Leave the high's free of missiles, and fill them up with other utility (i.e. Shield reps, armor reps, cap xfers, so on and so forth.)
With 1k dmg, two Fed Navy webs, shield and cap xfers, and possibly either two painters, or two tracking links......there are quite few of even the elitist douche FC's that will take you.
And that is at least half a Caldari ship. Just sayin. Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the comedian is the only thing that makes sense. |
