hey guys,
I have two accounts in eve. A PVP account and a "carebear" account. I'm looking for the best way to maximize my isk making ability. I currently make isk via exploration with my PVP account and mining with my other. I am very close to finishing my mining skills so looking into other isk making options.
As i understand, manufacturing and inventing has a very low profit margin and im not interested in running missions. trading will be more of an endgame money maker for me when i got everything else set up. I was looking into saving up for plex for the character spaces on each account just so i can level up pi and just having them run in the background. I know that i will have to manage pi but from what i understand i can make around 400 mill a month with each one.
Would you guys recommend this as a good idea or are there better alternatives out there that will not distract to much from my main goal of PvP? |

Manufacturing can bring in an easy passive income (if you use courier contracts). PI is passive, income depends on price and what you can build/systems etc. Trading is good, but sometimes requires more time than the above. |

I'm going to go ahead and guess that people making that much ISK are probably running factory planets, which require considerably more overhead than simple resource extraction planets. That said, yes, PI is a very good passive ISK maker.
Manufacturing and inventing are very much profitable as long as you can do math and choose your markets wisely. |

The income of PI is heavily dependant on what you do with PI and where you do it (custom office taxes etc). Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? Just join my channel: Crazy Dutch Guy |

Thanks for pointing out why my trading sucks :) Math at 5 ... no Adv Math and Spreadsheet Calculation only at 3....

Manufacturing can give good profits if you what to do (Math and Adv Math skills at 5 and Spreadsheet calculation at 4).
Same basicly counts for invention.
And for trading too, but there also comes the time invested into play. The more time you spent on your trader manipulating your orders and the market the more you can make.
don't forget "advanced spreadsheeting" L3 One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Im starting to lean to manufacturing. I think it will help me learn the market better for when i come to becoming more of a full time trader. What sort of isk per month would i be looking at if i was to manufacture on one char?
Thanks for the responses |

If you can't do at least the trivial math to figure out the profits yourself (or find a tool that does it for you), I would recommend avoiding manufacturing completely as you are more likely than not to end up losing a lot of ISK. |

I've been station trading on an alt for a few months and it hasn't been too bad
I went for one of the smaller market hubs as I don't have much time to play. I only really check on orders every other evening or so.
It took some time to find some profitable items to trade but I was making 5-10 million ISK every 2 weeks or so
It doesn't sound like a lot but for a new player like me, it made a big difference. If I had more time, I could have updated orders more often but I went with the semi-passive approach
The more ISK you have to initially invest, the more you can make but it takes a little initial time to pick what to trade
Just my 2 ISK on the subject :)
EDIT: This explains station trading a lot better then I did! http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/xlemq/station_trading_101_making_a_fortune_by_playing/ |

WRT to manufacturing, like Abdiel says, you need to have a look for yourself. Things change and what was profitable yesterday will be losing you isk next week, so no list of items is going to help you for very long.
Learning how to find items yourself is far more useful than a simple list of profitable items.
I would suggest going to a market hub and search contracts, set range to system, set type to Blueprint copies, have a look, compare prices, look at skills and materials required, calculate if you can make a profit.
Numbers : I have a couple of alts that I wanted to dabble in manufacturing on, trained Production Efficiency V, I could make about 80 - 100m profit per week per character using public couriers to shift the mins to the manufacturing station and finished goods back to Jita. I was buying BPCs off contracts in Jita and had to log in for about 5 - 10 mins a couple of times per week. I do have a high standing Tycoon IV trader though which helps.
Bear in mind however that there was a fair amount of time spent up front looking for profitable items.
Despite what you may read on the forums there are plenty of items you can build for a profit, even using public courier contract to do your transporting.
On datacore farming, I would say, don't bother. You can still sell them for around 100k per item (roughly) but the couple of weeks skill training for Research Project Management and the standings grind aren't worth it IMO, better to use your time and effort for other things.
If you want to get into Industry and Manufacturing, spend some time reading in the Sci & Ind subforum and pay attention to any posts by Tau Cabalander, he is pretty good at explaining things for people new at it. |
