My char is going to be a Gallente woman who lost her family in the war with the Amarr. Since then she is eaking out an exsistence mining day by day, but the fury is building insider and she is approached by the special ops team of the Gallente Navy. Soon she will spy on the enemies and strike at their core weaknesses decimating them from the inside.
How much RP is there within the EVE universe? How is the war between races done? (Does it only lie within corporations? Thinking minimatar might be better from an RP viewpoint)
Sorry for the noob questions, but hey its what the forums for! :)

there are several roleplaying corps out there for new players to join. And FYI, the Amarr and Gallente never had a war, there were only tensions because the Gallente helped the minmatar rebel against their amarrian masters.
The only major Gallente war was against the Caldari. (The Caldari won, but still lost their home planet).

Actually, niether won, both factions suffered heavy losses and a truce was drawn to end the bloodshed.

Yes, there hasn't been a war between the Gallente and the Amarr...
... yet. The upcoming expansion's codename is the name for the Hindu god of death for a reason.

I only know about two Gallente role playing corps: Placid reborn (anti-pirate I think) and Coreli corporation (just turned pirate corp?). If you lost your family in a war with spineless immoral beings you might want to join a non-pirate corp

It would be fair to say that Placid Reborn is mainly (but not exclusively) concerned with Intaki affairs. Intaki are a racial sub-group of the Gallente line but ethnically distinct. Yes, PR does have an anti-piracy stance.
You might find the Roleplay Corporations shortlist thread useful.

Ha! The Gallente spin goes on and on. The war was intended by the Gallente to stop the foundation of a separate Caldari state. Look around! Looks to me like

we managed to evacuate an entire planet, and inflicted serious damage onto a much larger fleet. I count that as winning
