I have come to realize that Eve online is like an instrument. It is like the guitar. A simple instrument that takes years to master. Like the guitar, you can fit with all kinds of fittings, from wah wah pedals, to distortion, reverb, delay.... you can play it clean or dirty it up with distortion and gain.
Not everyone can play the guitar even though others make it look easy. You need coordination, you need rhythm. You need practice and passion.
Some players play only highsec classical Eve, while others rat their own Heavy Metal riffs in nullsec. There is no one way to play Eve online, just like a true instrument and there are artists who inspire others to pick up the instrument and play a tune.
Eve is instrumental in being flexible enough to allow all these various styles of play to exist.
Big thanks to CCP and their passion for creating an awesome instrument we all love to play and not handing us a music box like other games which only plays one tune by spinning a dial. We heard it before. Eve, like an instrument, is ours to master.

I agree most certainly with your outlook.
But the more unimaginative types have already said "screw the instruments", and just repetitiously emulate everything in Real Life within the game as if setting a Youtube Clip song set on repeat mode.
Player imagination is dead in the water anymore. Even with a sandbox. All they can think to bring is a bucket and a shovel. Still. "Who thinks it's normal to kneel down to a naked man who's nailed to a cross? It's like a bad leather bar." -- John Waters |

This is the second time I see you post something like this. I am quite curious what do you mean by that, metaphors aside. Who do you think is "unimaginative"? In what way are they "copying real life"? Why is that bad? Do you have any better (more imaginative?) ideas? |

It took me years to master my instrument,
I can now perform for over an hour,
or if time is short I can whip off a quick intermezzo Thank You Obama! |

At least many players are putting the bucket over other players heads and beating them with the shovel.
So, we've got that going for us. I plan on living forever.......so far, so good. |
