Hi all! o/
I-¦ve some questions about Factional Warfare and how to get into it as a lone wolf. I-¦m going to choose Caldari State and only use caldarian ships. What are common newbie mistakes and how do I get past the pirates at the gates? Any corp or alliance that are looking for more players to join up, and use a certain type of ship perhaps?
What sort of ships are good to start with? Which skills should I focus on? You have any good fitting for me to focus on?

Not to be overly harsh, my first suggestion would be to use your Google Fu to learn a little about FW on your own. This will help you out on addressing your 'noob mistake' question and allow you to ask a more focused question that people might be able to help you out with. |

You should mention what TZ you are in - that will go a long way to determining who you should join up with.
As far as avoiding pirates - fly frigates or destroyers will get you past most camps. Once you are out of high sec, the pirate camps aren't that bad. (And joining a good caldari corp that bases in lowsec is a good way to avoid some of the high sec camps).
Ships - frigs and dessies. Cheap, fun, manuveurable. Also - the best ship is friendship, especially for newbies :)
Fitting really depends on your playstyle, which race of ship you want etc.

EU timezone, if TZ is timezone that is =) I-¦m going Caldari style as I said.
Thanks for the info.

Welcome!
As said before, you need to read up on FW mechanics yourself... but a few tips.
Get into a low-sec based Corp (not one based in Ichoriya), it's much easier when you don't have to deal with gate camps when you're trying to PvP.
As for Caldari ships.
Missiles baby.
[Kestrel, RocketRegular] Ballistic Control System II Damage Control II
Medium Shield Extender II Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I 1MN Afterburner II
Rocket Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Rocket
Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Your standard Kestrel fit you should aim for. Throw in the less expensive web(X5) and scram (J5B) if you're feeling cheap. Everything else is pretty much mandatory. |

Thank you =) Problem is that I-¦m already in my own corp, and would like to cooperate with other FW corps. Was this fitting for a Destroyer?

Don't bother doing it alone.
Find friends, learn together, die together and go kill **** together.
Eve is an MMO not a 1P game.
If you want to co-operate with other corps. Move to low sec, be seen and get known.
Two spots that shouldn't be too hard to live in for someone new to low sec: Innia - is a good starting point for a base. Lots of friendly militia around there. Hykanima - is a chilled and easy spot where not much will bother you.
If you want to get your soul to heaven, trust in me. Now don't judge or question. You are broken now, but faith can heal you. Just do everything I tell you to do. (Opiate - Tool) |

I think the biggest noobish mistake is joining Caldari. One should join Gallente instead since there are far more Caldari targets out there. |

This is what my horse stable would look like if all Caldari:
- Kestrel - Condor - Merlin (Railgun or Blasters)
- Hawk (2 Medium Ancillary Shield Booster)
- Cormorant (railgun)
- Osprey Navy Issues - Caracal (rapid assault missile launcher)
- Ferox (2 X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster) - Drake (Heavy missile launcher or Heavy Assault Missile launcher)
I decided to stick with cost to performance here. Most tech 2 ships are not worth it otherwise I would throw in the Cerberus. Tengu is also good for exploration and doing anomalies in some random alliances 0.0 space. The above is all you need though.
As far as who to fly with? You can try rolling with Pyre Falcon Defence Combinehttp://eve-kill.net/?a=alliance_detail&all_external_id=99002880. They have shown themselves to be better than MOST Gallente and Caldari entities in small scale engagements and tend to keep things low key. They're a role playing organization though. So, you may need a wizard hat and cape to run with them. - Killz

To sink so low as to join Gallente and Minmatar, is as much fail as liberalism is in IRL. "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill |

Bigger ships = easy kills for small groups of dessies or AF's. Typically you wont see much higher than a cruiser unless they have a large gang supported by ewar and logi. |
