Was reading some of Metacritic-¦s reviews, and then outside gaming websites reviews after I saw Metacritic-¦s user score of 3.8 !!!!
Anyone here has firsthand experience of the game?
Was wondering what games were worth it lately ... Seems Rome Total War 2 is not really a nice choice Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

Played a "free demo" version first for about 3 mins, the performance was so horrible I deleted it right away. Although it might be playable next year after patches.
This reminds me why I generally stay away from AAA titles produced by the big boys. |

The reviews on Metacritic are pretty much spot on. It's not just buggy, it's incomplete. It's obvious that it was released half finished. |

They've added a couple of patches that have improved it immensely from release. Overall I'd say wait until you can get a deal on steam, it was the first game I ever pre-purchased and I don't regret it though. I also just got a new PC so I haven't run into any technical problems.
There were a lot of poorly thought out and implemented game mechanics added that can take away from all the cool stuff in it. Like I said, they are improving the game with each patch and dealing with them. |

As others have said, its improved but still subpar.
I'm going to wait for this one to be in the $9.99 bargain bin on steam with all the DLC.
Hopefully empire 2 or whatever is next wont suck as badly. "I think you should buy a new Mayan calendar. Mine has muscle cars on it." --áKenneth O'Hara

well...I must be in the minority because it's amazing to me. when it first came out I had an older computer so I had some performance issues with lag and just it being generally slow. but I had little to complain about as far as the gameplay went. I guess I've been lucky from the start with it. now that there have been patches (not to mention new computer) I have absolutely zero complaints. my favorite faction from the 1st rome, the seleucids, was released and I've started a new game with them. and I have a few mods going. mostly units and a terrific little mod that splits years into 2 turns instead of 1.
now, in my games, generals and agents can actually have decent careers instead of dying of old age before they can even hit their stride lol. it's great. my favorite total war game yet. |

I enjoy it a lot as well. It had some issues for me at launch, but nothing major or game breaking(besides all my generals going insane, which I worked around by reloading autosave when one of them did.) but what game is released in perfect state? I do miss the micro management from the earlier series though
Anyway if you want a horrible and unfinished launch, read up on diablo 3 and simcity launch, those launches went horribly wrong, even though that was expected! |

Well, I don-¦t play it (exactly because of bad reviews. I am a great fan of the TW series and especially of the original TW:Rome, however.
But if a game gets a special place on memebase, I guess there just might be some truth about it not being very good..... Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.

Maybe this game should act as a reminder that pre-ordering games is actually a bad idea.
There's no way to tell whether or not a game is good before it's actually been released and there are proper reviews. It allows the gaming industry to hype their games, sell it before anyone has the chance to realise just how bad the game really is and then deliver a massive disappointment.
Another good example would be aliens: colonial marines. Much hype, worst game for ages. |

sadly it seems to be the latest marketing 'buzz activity' though
I view alpha/beta code as no more than a demo version of the game and I don't expect to pay for demo's

Much better than a few weeks ago, most of the issues I had have been sorted and the AI is much improved. I am slightly upset I no longer have flying ships in city assaults. |

I heard about that. I'm upset I never seen it :(
And theye have been working on the game after release, 4 big patches out, as well as some more playable factions. New DLC just got released and before anyone accuses CA of being money grabbers, its free! But I am sure there are going to be a lot of complaints about that as well, so Im going to add my complaint.
I dont want free DLC, I want PAID dlc. That is, I want to get paid to get it! |

True, pre-order is a scourge, people should reject it. Sadly too many fall for this scam.
As for hype and disapointment, SimCity 2013 wins 'worst' for me at this point. Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.-á-á- William Pitt |

checking in to report that the Seleucid campaign on hard is brutal. everything was going smooth until my eastern satrapies all decided to rebel within two years of each other. it was a pretty devastating loss of income...not to mention being at war with 5 former vassals with chips on their shoulders and all their buddies they managed to drag into the conflict like arachosia, Parthia and media atropenene.
and the new AI just loves to use subversion and agents in general to ruin your day. I've gotten used to not having generals in most of my defensive battles...because the AI sends its lacky agents in and wounds them...then pounces with a full stacked army or two. I believe the only thing that has spared me so far is that, somehow, I managed to go against the odds (and history for that matter) and forge an alliance with Egypt. and when they offered to join my wars for gold (a significant amount but money well spent) I readily agreed. now their attention is divided and I've been able to regain my breath and a little ground in the east.
i'd say the game has definitely improved. |

As Carthage I found myself at war with all of africa (5 kingdoms I have dubbed the african union), two barbarian kingdoms in Iberia, the city state to the north east and rome by turn three. By turn ten they were joined by three more tribes to the north after I entered an alliance to protect the Eurotions to the north of me.
I have managed to make progress in weat africa beating down two afrian union nations and took out one of the two iberian tribes. To the east and north things are not going as well. My ally has been kicked off mainland europe and our fleets are holding them back. My Lybian protectorate has fallen and the enemy is knocking on the doors of Carthage itself while rome lands her troops with barbarian allies on my shores to the northwest and threatens a key port city. If the city falls they enemy will be just a short boat ride from the capital.
I now move my army in the east to the west to push back the africans while my protectorate, nova carthago, invades iberia and provides ships to aid in the defence to the west while my fleets sail to protect my waters in the east. If I can cnvince Egypt to join me in a defencive alliance then I could shorten the war, if not then I will just have to slug it out and secure my empire before embarking on an invation of rome, perhaps from their weaker northern holds. |

The Titanic's maiden voyage went pretty smoothly compared to Simcity's 2013 launch. Too be fair, given TA's previous Total War games, people were deluding themselves thinking Rome II was going to be different, its not like we heard all the hype before and were left disappointed. |

Learned that the hard way from Pre-ordering ME3. First mistake, pre-oredering ME3, not recieving any of the bonus content was just icing on the cake EA threw at my face wumbo |
