I was just curious, I've done the research and know the pros and cons to each one. But I want to see what people's favorite freighter to fly is and why? |

Personally, I fly the Obelisk. I don't fly traitor ships, and the bonus isn't really that much greater on the Charon (it's a pretty even balance). |

I own 6 Charons.
To me every m3 matters, and I don't AFK haul (except sometimes when empty).
The Providence looks like a capsized sailing ship. [Amarr was my second choice for Industrial 5, largely because of the Prorator, but it looks like a bug.]
All my freighter pilots can pilot all freighters now that they only require Industrial 3. |

The Charon, because its name is similar enough to Carbon that useful idiots sometimes confuse the two, creating large opportunities for unscrupulous individuals to profit. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. Fenrir, because they are "nimble and fast". I also have to say that my typical stuff has value enough that I can't really fill them to max, so the "fill till the last m3" concept said above cannot apply to me. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

This is a tough question, as I love them all.
Obelisk: the first big ship I encountered as a rookie in a tiny frigate, and thus has a special place in my heart. Charon: My first freighter, and the one I'm training to level V currently as I want to have one with maxed out cargo Providence: I love the way it looks and want to fly it the most currently Fenrir: I've been ignoring this one a bit, and use it more out of guilt than anything else. The increased agility should matter more, but doesn't in my case.
Having flown all 4, my advice is: Get the one that you most like the looks of. The difference in cargo space only matters once in a while, and all freighters are painfully slow. Looking at an aesthetically pleasing ship during the painful alignment process is a boon. Any colour you like. |

Fav Freighter for me is the Charon, as that is how I imagine a huge spacetruck should look like, just a huge slab of steel moving through space at a sedate pace. If only the Charon had a Spacetruck Horn, that would been awesome. Toot toot *****.
Close second is the Fenrir: Whenever I see one, I always imagine a bunch of angry Jawas jumping out, zapping all Drones in the vicinity.
Obelisk: It's the only one I can fly, and I do like the looks of it.
Providence: No, just no. Imo, it looks like an amarr rookie ships on steroids... I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example. |

I typically haul a single partially loaded Charon of high-end minerals, and four or more Charons filled with mostly Tritanium and Pyerite. Never had a problem with value.
I have hauled up to ~30 billion in a single Charon (I was feeling lazy and lucky), but never through well-known choke points like Niarja and Uedema.
Don't haul more than you are prepared to lose *shrug* |

Charon..
Because i chose crane,
because I chose badger 2
- I've got over a dozen trade/scout/cyno characters .. eventually I might have one in every high sec and a handful of o.o systems
I need them to be able to interchange ships.. my human memory and mental effort is at the heart of any decission I make.
Not all of them can fly a freigheter but I want all of them to be able to fly a manticore, buzzard, and crane.
I haven' t checked the stats with the current changes...
... training shields has always seemed the most efficient... I don't want too much SP on those chars .. but want the most bang I can get per sp ... sheild ships help. Never armor tank a bomber I don't think.. bomb skills go hand in hand with missle skills to let them fly a caracal or drake in a pinch with basically hundreds of thousands of sp. (maybe for a low level mission building standing. maybe for bait .. maybe just for the heck of it)
No sense training industrial V twice on characters.
no sense keeping track of where different ships are parked (eve HQ helps Knowing where they're parked. but there is a better chance that there's a ship one of your alts can fly near them if they all can fly the same ships that get left behind as they switch ships.
You don't need to do all that.. but.. it's nice to have a shield tank .
Actually Orca is my favorite big hauler. I run a shield tank on the orcas and keep the lows for inertial stabs or warp stabs.
So. I'd recoment a frieghter with the ships under it that will use shield tanks.

The Orca is an amazing ship for hauling, when you have medium sized loads i.e. <300k m3.
With a 100MN MWD fitted (and used properly), an Orca aligns and warps in less than 10 seconds, which is just a dream for a capital. Any colour you like. |
