Every action you do must have a reason behind it. I take it you were conditioned to always orbit something in combat.
Why are you orbiting the frig? It increases transversal and makes you miss more. Use *keep at range* or something, and look into training the skill Motion Prediction.

Edited by: Scilent Enigma on 12/02/2007 21:01:24 Toyed around with quickfit to get an affordable fit that I think would be pretty decent.
4x d180 'scout' (EMP or PP), 2xMed Nos MWD, 20km scram, web 2x Small Armor Rep II, Named Damage Control
Not too heavy on the wallet. Not too SP demanding either.
Good for getting up close and personal really quickly, then kill the MWD to get rid of the Sig radius penalty. After that it's just a matter of bleeding their tank.
Though this would prolly be better as a tackler in gangs.
What do you think?

Hi Slots: 4x 220mm auto's, 2x medium NOS Mid Slots: 10Mn AB,webber, +2 warp scrambler Low Slots: Medium armour repairer, PDU, Nano
all tech 1 and it fits with engineering at lvl5 and Advanced Weapon Upgrades lvl5
i use the AB because i cant use MWD's yet, but when i can i will switch the Medium repper for a small one, fit a second PDU or fit launchers instead of NOS "see you on the other side"

Im not going to go through this entire post, but I just have to at an 'affordble' pvp stabber setup.
Sure, Im sitting on over a billion two of ISK and assets, but who the hell cant afford a stabber + fittings? Super new, sure. But even those people should realize that you should postpone pvp action till youc an afford a stabber. ---------------------------------------- Friends Forever

How about this for a setup?
High: 4x 200mm ac 1x med NOS 1x Small NOS
Medium: 1x 10 MWD 1x Web 1x Scrambler
Low: 1x Expl. Harderner 1x 1600mm plate 1x small t2 armour rep
Heavy tackler; fast, yet with the plate able to take quite a few blows. Not a dps machine by any definition, but as a tackler that not what your going for anyways, right?

What about a pure speed tank setup for solo PvP? As a side note, what is a good orbit for quad 220mm and small nos/small neut setup? I want to orbit close enough that the trans velocity kills his tracking but I can still hit fairly effective. I was thinking 500m - comments?

What do you guys think of this setup
4 x 220mm Autocannons, 1 x Med NOS, 1 x Small NOS / RL 1 x MWD, 1 x Webber, 1x Scrambler/Cap recharger 1 x Medium Repairer, 1x EAN, 1x CPR
The idea of this is that when you got the NOSs going your repper will run for a LONG time meaning you can take a lot of damage. Not sure if it will work too well or not... hoping for some feedback. Thx :)

My Caldari character gets most of the skill training & is able to hit nout to 60 k in cruiser so when I play my Minnie the lack of distance is...well discomforting. On my stabber I have ( what I can remember )
Hi : 2 X 650, 2 x 280, 2 x standard missile ( training heavies atm ) Med : 1 x MWD, 1 x shield hardener, ? ? Lo : at least 1 x RCU ( maybe 2 as needed the PG for 650's,will update what I have when I get in game )
Question I have is why all the 180d & 220's & should I be looking in that direction as well. Thanks

i tested this with a 10MN MWD I, a 20km warp disruptor I and 3x tech I cap relays in the lows.
using the mwd alone my cap holds at 42%. mwd alone is totally sustainable this way. however if u add the disruptor ur cap runs dry within 2min 42sec.
using the mwd alone and using only 2 cap relays the cap depletes within 4min 51sec. if u add the disruptor again ur cap runs dry in 1min 8sec.
the ship performs speedtanking and tackling well in most situations but only for a limited amout of time.
should time be an issue if it comes to tracking down tough opponents, the best choice would be fitting at least one medium nos to get additional cap. however this is a lil tricky since the target tends to move aswell and ofc enemy nosage is a huge problem if it comes to sustaining this caphungry tactic.

I'm trying to equip a Stabber for Level 2 PvE missions. Can someone suggest a good setup for my meager 950k skillpoints?
Thanks!

My Stabber setup has served me well for Lvl 2 missions, it trashes most of them, on the very toughest ones you may have to warp in and out a couple of times. I ran this with Engineering 4 and Electronics 3 so most people ought to be able to fit these modules or better.
HIGH (6) 3 x 720mm Prototype 1 Siege Cannon 2 x Upgraded "Limos" Standard Missile Bay 1 x 280mm "Scout" Artillery 1/Salvager (for ratting)
MEDIUM (3) Medium Shield Extender 1 Y-58 Hydrocarbon 1 Afterburner Invulnerability Field 1
LOW (3) Power Diagnostic System 1 Emergency Damage Control 1 Mark 1 Modified SS Overdrive Injector
The 280mm gun adds a little extra weight and a fresh damage type to the missile mix for frigs that get in close, but you should be relying on the three big guns and standing off in the 30-40km range. You could swap a mid slot for mission-specific tanking but mostly you should be comfortable if you keep the damage control and Inv field running throughout combat and use the AB to move quickly in and out of your sweet spot for range.
The low slots make a big difference for when you need to warp out of trouble. Once the Stabber starts to fall apart it goes down quickly so the extra speed and damage control helps a lot.
Swapping out the smaller arty for a salvager saves a lot of time when ratting, with only a few ships to loot. For missions, a specialized salvage boat is the way to go. With more grid, of course, use this slot for a fourth medium artillery piece.

hey there,
im quite new to the game (1,5 million sp) and just trained to fly the stabber. the stabber fitting sould be for solo pirating, i would prefer a gank setup also i dont know how good this is to engage other cruisers? another question is which launcher to use...assault missile (light missiles) or heavy assault missile launcher / heavy missile launcher?
my current setup is: 4*180mm dual ac 2 heavy assault launcher lse I (named) 20km scrambler 10mn mwd 2*named gyro 1 nano
1 warrior I
one main problem is that i cant fight probably outside web range with t1 cannons and also im not sure if the lse is worth or if i better fit a web

think bursts are useless really, if you want to jam stuff get a dedicated ecm boat like a blackbird.
if you swap out polycarbon rigs for the +10% speed rig it becomes a lot more affordeable since those speed rigs are less then 10M to make. 3x of those and a nano/od puts my stabber just under 5km/s at 200dps

Is there a reason to use such small guns? I didn't even use anything that small on my destroyer. I'm no expert, but if I can stay away from my targets they fall fairly fast. My latest build which has just been for missioning (L2) is this:
High: 3x 720 Carbine Howitzer (with Nuclear Ammo and my skills takes me to 33k optimal range) 1x 425 Medium Artillery (could squeeze this into my powergrid so I went with it)
Medium: 10mn Afterburner 1 Small Hull Repairer 1 (I want to upgrade this to a medium but I only use it to avoid paying for hull repairs when a mission turns more difficult than expected, and I can't find the extra power needed) Cap Recharger 1 (cap is a major issue when I use the armor repairer and/or AB)
Low: 2x Reactor Control Unit 1 1x Medium Armor Repairer 1
I suppose big guns are too expensive and thats why none of them have been recommended. |
