If you can get remote desktop protocols thru your college network (I doubt it but you never know) you could connect to another PC outside of college that can run Eve and do skill changes or even play through that.
Play could be sh!te tho if you have a slow connection between the two machines.
Just a thought.

I understand why CCP has this policy in place, ie, making us log in to change skills.
Two things; I had heard that they were going to allow skill changing through phone or pda mobile internet connections. True?
A simple workaround for changing the skills would be to allow a skill to simply continue on to the next level of that same skill if not changed by the player. If you get to V, it simply stops. This would solve 99% of why people want to remotely change skills anyway.

Think that as much as you want, CCP are never going to do it. They have said that already many many times.

The Russians used to think like this. Things always change. Can you do it now? No. Will we be able to in the future? Why not?

well i'll take that as a clear no then,.. i dont get why they can't make it so you can have a basic control over your character since you can view your characters stats, and see what he has learned or is currently learning. but if there really so up tight a real basic fix to this would be a training queing system, make it so you can tell your character to learn one thing and then learn another thing when that is done and son on and make it so you cna do it upto five or something?

Gotta agree with this.
And to the OP.....don't you know anyone you can trust with your account? Get them to do your skills for you?

it was stated in EON #2 that they working on a pda client that will let you log in to do simple thing like change skills, do market stuff, corp chat, etc... basically anything that you can do in a station.
no timeframe though iwrc.
have also seen that some ppl manage to log into eve to change skill using remoting from pda or something - but not really sure.
have also seen that some ppl have set up port forwarders at unblocked IPs and connected to eve via those proxies from 'locked down' environments. dunno if this is against EULA or not though - but the thread wasn't locked...

You have to log into the game to switch skill traing.
This is just like it should be, I meen how silly would it be if you were allowed to switch skill from outside of the game, next people are going to ask to be allowed to do trading and escrows so on and so forth from outside of the game too.
NO! Better keep the real wortld apart from that imaginary place some pod pilots go to from time to time.

Simple skill queing of one or two skills to train after the current one should exist. Would be extremely benificial for people with two accounts, on vacation, who are forgetful, etc..

If CCP actually CARED about their customers this would be true, but unforunately this is not the case as with any other business. They figure if they allowed more than 1 skill (even if it was maxed at 2 or 3) to be queued people could pay for a month then come back 2 months later and doing the same thing. It doesnt occur to them that a simple fix would be not to allow skill training to go on in cancelled accounts...... Gotta wonder sometimes.

seems to be a concerted push of late to get this element of the game changed ie skill queue or some sort of website - bad idea if u knew u would be away for 2 weeks why didnt u simply set a 28 day level 5 learning skill >? oh well some lost training time wouldnt worry to much

Nobody's pointing nuclear missiles at CCP and forcing them to hemorrhage money in a global cold war. I think your analogy is a bit rusty.

Given the unreliability of EVE, the many crashes, unexpected downtimes, the problems with each and every 'upgrade' I ask that CCP reconsider and give us a web-based access to skill training.
It won't cost them any money as only paying players could use it. It won't take that much more programming. We can already access some portions of our accounts via web.
It is the right thing to do, Oveur.
I, for one, welcome our new Jovian Overlords! |

Contrary to popular belief, the customer isn't always correct.
If they implemented all customer ideas we'd have a multi-sharded, consensual pvp....

This has NOTHING to do with "customers always being right" its common sense. Why the hell do skills keep training after a customer CANCELS his account but those who are paying and for ANY reason can't change a skill when the other is done gets screwed.
So basically if your going away for a while its best to CANCEL your account and lets say come back with BS lv 5 done 3 months later than keep paying for and not being able to change your skill, that way you get your moneys worth.
How smart is this.

I think this would be a fair compromise. Doesn't seem like it would add any extra burden to the server either, unlike a queue. The only time I really want a skill queue is for training skill with 4-6 hours left that are too long for one session but too short to train while I sleep.

ok. I have to ask, why is one of these posts not stickied? I've only been here just over a week, and I know that i've seen a differnt post on this every day, if not several times a day.
It's a basic question people ask.
-------------------------------- -I hope that's an exhaust port and not a weapons port. -Uhm dude, I dont' think it'll make a difference either way. |
