Where have you guys been?
Moon goo is so 2012. All the large nullsec bears make their isk off renters now, and CCP isn't adding a renter siphons.
So enjoy stealing moon goo from our renters I guess. |

All these siphons are going to do is give the nullsec organizations a need to patrol their space more often.
In other words, it will further the concept of "this is an MMO and that means interaction with other players".
Of course I have seen this written by the sperglings of nullsec when in reference to their "emergent" activities in highsec (usually involving ganking something).
Therefore, let me get this out of the way now:
Nyah nyah nyah! Here's some of your own medicine! Neener neener neener!!!
No more will moon mining arrays quietly ******* away in nullsec un-challenged!
Take it from me: it's empty out there, most of the time.
Most of this "highsec has it too easy" business we see in the forums is nothing more than a red herring meant to distract from the reality that nullsec is a bigger carebear sanctuary and ISK faucet.
Now, since nullsec appears to have all the organization that they curse highsec for lacking (you know, all those casual players who don't have hours a day to spend on nerd drama) why should siphons be any issue? Are they not all just sitting there waiting to fleet up in a mere instant and drop a cap fleet onto anything that usurps into their space with such well-oiled precision that even the RL armies would look on jealously? Why is this such a bother?
Ah well. The intent is very clear as to the point of siphons. I doubt anybody is going to get rich from them, nor will they be very effective.
They will be harvesting some tears though - and it would appear they are already doing that.
Now, all we need is a special ship for this. A "clandestine harvest" ship (probably a Thukker project - they'd come up with something like this) with a special bay for holding siphons and moon materials, that can hold lots of both and warp cloaked and an ability to cyno other harvest ships. Give it a large low rack to fill with stabs too.
They'll have to be blue in color to be well camouflaged against the ocean of tears they would generate. |

Where can I find info on this? It used to take years before OP items were nerfed, with rubicon, they get the nerf bat before we even get to see them. Progress my friend, progress. |

Hypothetically lets say everyone goes nuts dropping siphons everywhere and about 20% of current goo production is lost via siphons. Price rises- moongoo value goes up. If we previously made say 500b per month on high value moons, a 20% increase would be a 100b cherry on top of that 500b per month. I'll take it. Go nuts with them siphons guys (no to tears were shed in the crafting of this post) Tears were almost certainly flooding out of the quoted person during the crafting of his post. You seem to feel that moongoo is being lost, meaning an increase in demand. No, it's just being redistributed, meaning that you're gonna take a 20% hit and everyone else is getting a 20% gain. It wouldn't be ridiculous to say that prices may go down due to attempted undercutting during firesales of moongoo. 10% of the moongoo siphoned will be destroyed by the siphoning process. So any theft will actually result in a reduced supply. The 20% number you quoted was wrong but you completely failed to understand the concept which is much worse.
What are the chance of people destroying even more good by just blowing the structure up? Do we know if it's a pain in the ass to remove/steal/take over the unit? The loss could get higher if it's the case because of :effort: ... |

The last I heard, anybody can remove moongoo from the unit: the deployer, the POS owner, or any random passers by. Which is why I alternate between laughing at and feeling sorry for people in threads like this who are actually dumb enough to think they're going to make money by buying and deploying these things. Mostly the former.
So not much chance of that, but I think a bit more chance of people getting blown up with holds full of moongoo, and people hoarding moongoo or just not getting around to getting it to market because they play a lot more casually than someone who runs a moon mining operation. |

It is just a way for all the under appreciated grunts of large sov holding alliances to get a cut of the moon goop harvest, instead of having their leaders take all the profits for themselves.
Just fly around and collect up the goop from any siphons you see floating around in blue space. Easy way for the alliance grunts to make a bit of extra pocketchange |

I'm already fabulously space-wealthy so any mention of how much/little isk this will generate is beneath me. The idea of a moon-goo sink enabled by wandering simpletons, now this idea harks of a nearby ocean of tears possibly untapped. Siphons may yet turn out to be an Incarna sized disappointment, but along with the depots i'm seeing these as a buff to roaming solos who want to mess with boring old dullsec.

Implications: - After ~6months Dotlan will show all R64 moons in EVE with it's correct location. - No moon goo cartel will ever be possible again. The funny thing is any R64 owner will profit from it first but after ~6months when every R64 location is known the R64 owner have to be active enough to kill the siphons or will suffer from them.
The siphons will make the identifaction of any R64 moon easy. 1. Dscan moon, check for harvesting 2. Deploy Siphon unit, check for XXX moon goo in it, write it down 3. Check for profit, decide yourself if it's worth to deploy more siphons 4. Check next system, rinse and repeat.
How to: - Check for any low traffic 0.0 system on Dotlan with known R64 in it, better chance for your siphons to make profit. - Use Blops to deploy Blockade Runner everywhere you want.
It should be clear why most R64 owners are pissed. |

I guess itGÇÖs ok as long as they are the ones doing the griefing and not getting griefed. I am not surprised by the hypocrisy but I am annoyed that CCP are already making change because of these squall babies like turtle and freeze. The input from the csm seems to be split.

I was curious if anyone else was looking forward to dropping the siphons? There's people crying about this? I can't wait. High sec players are going to deliver battleship tanked structures to us, and plonk them in range of our POS guns. I'll be able to happily fly my industry guy (this one) POS to POS pewing structures to add to my KB, and if the high sec player tries to get me, the POS will nuke him for me. Then on the other side, I'll get to fly a covops hauler through lowsec and enemy null space, using my handy moon map, stealing the best goodies from all the siphons other players leave nearby! Thanks CCP! |

Heh heh, goof swarm. This thread needs less Infinity Ziona posting and more old man posting. Also, goons just post wherever, people on this forum should know that by now. But if it makes you feel special then that's cool.
