I've never seen so many different corps all itching to shoot people before. I started to write a brief run down of all the engagements but it was turning a saga
So in short, the evening opened for me with an excellent 2v2 (zealot + zealot vs vagabond + sac) which we won with a MASSIVE dose of luck. Thanks to mire and ShazamLight from 3fa for the great fight. (and at the tank on those two zealots)
We had memorable engagements with 3FA and Goonfleet. (look ma, 50 ships and no lag)
Between all this we managed to chase some weekend warriors out of 0.0 and into lowsec where I tackled a dominix on the gate, under the sentries in a claw. And survived
Thanks to Goonfleet, 3FA, BOS, Infinite Style Incorporated, Blood Covenant and random others for some great fights.
Thanks also to Exotic Dancers Club, Legion and Apocalypse Enterprises for the impromptu "NAP" so we could double-team 3FA.
These were some of the most fun, smack free, lag free, good natured, balls to the walls fights I've had in ages.
Thanks

From what I understood about that, one or both of you had ECM's fitted and they saved your SAC in structure. Maybe ive got that wrong, and maybe im just bitter about every single ship we meet in small PVP skirmishes fitting single ECM's and coming out on top cause of chance. Correct me on it if you like.
But I believe they had a good time of it all the same
The MHC battle was something else too, I havent seen one of those fights in a long time. Last time we had something that fun was against USTA (Mafia/Clankillers etc) in some of the older JH battles. Pity I missed it, hopefully we'll see some more like it in the future

I had one ECM II fitted. First time I've done it and I'm glad I did.
A sac has no business trying to take on 2 zealots without a trick up its sleeve. Like you said, I was in structure, how many times you think my jamming failed for that to happen?

If you call it statistics and not chance I am sure you would feel a lot better.

People in corp chat usually ask "I need PvP experience. What should I do?"
First thing I answer them is "Take a sabbatical, grab a few expendable frigs and stuff, and go spend a month in Syndicate."
Syndicate, IMHO best place to learn the ropes of PvP. ----------------

Yeah it was just a general comment on ECM's, so dont take it as undue whining. If you've ever been on the recieving end of fittings like that you'll know how frustrating it can be
It was a good day for some fights anyway, Syndicate can be really quiet these days and its good to see theres still some chance for action

Syndicate has always been a mix-matched hodge-podge mess of pirates/merc corps/small alliances/and coalitions that ALL know the nature of syndicate is pvp...and in general participate willingly. I love going out for an op for 4-5 hours and fighting 5 different entities, lately the pvp has been great, fleet battles smack free, and pvp prevalent.
Thanks too all the residents of synd for making it a great place too play the game.

ECM over-powered? well i had 1 geddon, 1 domi and Lermitte's scorpion ECMed with my little tech 1 arbi with only 3 Multi tech 1s...so yeah.
then again don't complain about ECM because Lermitte had ECM too and used it with reckless abandon!
my poor arbi, beat on by blobs of ships over the course of the day. my poor sec status too :(
who were the noobs that ran away from one CONIN mega and my arbi when they had a Domi, 2 BBs, 1 omen and a some other cruiser + 1 frig? Except for those cravens the combat was good all day long, loses on both sides but pardon my joy in that CONIN killed much more than they lost. *\o/*
Though if the fight is fun it doesn't much matter who loses, because good fights are the only way to play this game.

GF also had a little, mostly uneventful, skirmish with 206 and friends at the UTKS 10/10, shaping up to be a good weekend for PVP.

Theres a difference between fitting jammers to a scorpion and fitting one to every ship that doesnt even remotely have an EW role.
Re-read the previous posts and try not to flame out of existence what has so far been an amiable discussion into last night's fun fights.

I wonder why you are overly sensitive? IÆm not a smacker nor do I hold anything but respect for ClippedÆs people. I was actually agreeing with you about ECM and at the same time trying to be light-hearted about it. I've always gotten along well with 3rd front folks, donÆt take PvP personally in a game where your enemy today may be your ally tomorrow.
And the difference between we putting 3 ECM on my arbi and Lermitte putting however many ECM on his scorpion is that the scorpion is an ECM build machine that utilizes the maximum superiority of the ECM while my pathetic tech 1 arbi who had already lost its drones was a little blip on the radar that almost died like 5 times. If you think using ECM is unfair because it is over powered stop flying Scorpions that maximize their capabilities. It is far more opportunistic to fly ships with an ECM bonus when ECM is strongest than to slap one on an crappy amarr cruiser (which I have always fitted ECM on since way before the ECM changes anyway).
oh and cheer up some Ichabod donÆt assume IÆm flaming when IÆm making a jest, be more like Clipped and that sparkling attitude he projects. ^_^

Edited by: Ichabod Crane on 13/02/2006 00:22:05 Fair enough at that, perhaps I was too quick to respond to you. Still, in my defense, light hearted comments like that dont tend to permiate well across the internet without emotes.
And tbh, this thread shouldnt be a discussion about the pros, cons and moralistic implications of using ECM's on EW or any other kind of ship. So lets not derail it further.
Oh, and FYI, not everyone has 30+ charisma like clip does

Not only experience, but always seeking a fight even when outmatched and outnumbered, unlike some other guys in Syndicate I know. Anyway kudos to Shadows and Contraband I enjoy fighting you both.

Edited by: BlackDog Rackh''am on 13/02/2006 17:26:44 Tbh i think Goonfleet is a cool concept. They might overload on stabs occassionally and avoid engagements until they have secured enough of an advantage, but everyone in this game is guilty of that at one point or another. Even the best pvp pilots have been total and utter noobs at some point in time, and they shouldn't forget that.
In fact, i can sure cut Goonfleet some slack simply because they are newer players and they will need their time before they have the necessary confidence. What i know is that it must be awesome fun for a month-old player to be able to regularly go into 0.0 without having to wait.
I recall a recent engagement against them, which i enjoyed a lot. Generally, to engage you need some kind of advantage. That can be tactics, numbers and skills (both character SPs and player skills). Usually, to fight outnumbered you need the advantage of experience to even things out. I liked that fight because Goonfleet had the numbers advantage, but we had better ships and tactics, making it more or less an even fight in retrospect. Of course, we couldn't know the outcome when we were going in, and that's what made it exciting.
It was me and shemesta in vagabonds, against 2 rifters, crow, crusader, 1-2 BC's and about 4-5 cruisers (BC/cruiser numbers could be slightly different,i'm too bored to check killboards atm)
We wanted to pick off the frigates initially and work against the rest afterwards if possible. However, on the initial jump in shemesta crashed, so we had to jump out and go in together. Our enemies might be relatively new, but they knew what we were bringing and made some correct decisions. I was double webbed by a caracal and i wasted some time going "WTF?the frigs are dead, who's webbing me?",before i saw him standing about 7km from me.
At that point the 3 remaining ships were focusing on shemesta and giving him some trouble, but we eventually managed to kill them without friendly losses.
In retrospect, i have only one little piece of friendly advice. Some of their ships we killed last did have 1-2 stabs fitted, so they could run away. I don't criticise fitting stabs, it's just weird that they didn't try to escape while they could do so. It made sense to stand and fight since they were in one of their home systems, possibly with replacement ships ready and waiting for them.
But the deal is, if you want to prevent losses fit some stabs and USE them, otherwise they just gimp your setup without any real gain as a trade off. If you intend to go down with your ship like in this case, fit something else like a damage mod. It's highly probable that you could have killed at least one of us,maybe both, that way. In any case, it was a cool fight and i'm not saying that just because we came on top (i wouldn't be giving you advice on how to kill me otherwise, would i?)

Another fun night in syndicate last night.
Multiple encouters with hostile groups around the 6-C and MHC area. We formed up to take out a snigg gatecamp in MHC that left before we got there, wandered over to 6-c and had some fun with the BRS guys. Geeklabs brought in a Dreadnought but logged it off soon after we destroyed their Scorpion. Ran into some Shadows of the Wraiths in 6E and kinda mobed them(sorry guys). Set up a gate camp in 6-c and got a neutral BC.
I think our losses were 1 BS and 5 or 6 support craft, while we destroyed 2 BSes, 1 BC, 5 cruisers and a couple other random ships.
Overall another good time.
