Hi,
If I remember correctly, there was an effect being tested on SiSi for Apocrypha resembling blue electricity surrounding the ship. that effect was awesome but it didn't make it into the final version.
The current "just transparency" effect makes it near impossible to know exactly where your ship is if you're in one of the areas with darker backgrounds.
The gradual removal of transparency also creates a gap of 1-3 seconds where you don't now if your ship is actually cloaked or not unless you're constantly staring at that button! This is also true for jumping through stargates, one doesn't know if he's still cloaked for a few seconds!
I think this lack of a most vital information being available to everyone except yourself (overview) is unacceptable and something needs to be done about it!
1- New cloaking EFFECT that is very visible, even when zoomed out, and either ON or OFF! the overview either shows you to the enemy or not, so there is no logical reason it should appear gradually to you.
2- add a SOUND alarm to it similar to low-shield/armor, which is triggered when the cloaking effect deactivates NON-manually! (proximity or session timer run out).
3- Add a cycle time on the module icon showing important information when decloaked, such as targeting delay timer, and then recloak timer.
4- This is infinitely more important than changing the command ship models! this is TACTICAL aspect that is heavily influencing gameplay right NOW. models are aesthetics which have little impact on game play and are in no way urgent! can this happen without waiting for years? it's just a few days work at most really!

It is true that the current cloaking animation isn't a good idea gameplay wise. An unprecise animation for a precise module is a strange idea.
I liked the old cloaking animation with the "scanning" effect on your ship, and it matched the delay before dissapearing from the overview when you activate your cloak. Of course, deactivating the cloak had the same desync between animation and gameplay than now, but you get the point. |

I imagine now that they are moving to DX11 with Rubicon you will see better SFX, assuming you have DX11 card of course ;)
I really want to see lightning arc out from the gate towards ships when they are near it, just cause it's cool.
Tessellation will be a winner too, hopefully they will prioritise bigger objects first though, as I would notice it on stations and gate more than on my ships. |

And while you're there CCP, please synchronise the ship effect with the engine exhaust effect. At the moment, the ship fades in, but the exhaust appears rather suddenly, instead of fading in too. |

there was no mention of new effects for rubicon, but this is REALLY an important matter, seriously! |

the said "blue lightning" effect is in the game. it is the effect you get when bridging covert ships through either a titan bridge, jump bridge or black ops bridge.
