I'm against this, a characters name and reputation are important in this game.
Buying characters is almost too much. Eve is a game about consequences, planning and relationships. |

Which goes to show that you should not drink and engage in creative activities. At least, don't get drunk. But on topic - overly I am against the idea. Though it would be somewhat acceptable if, and only if the prior name were retained. Character Name: Blah Blah AKA: Blah Bl4h Blah, AKA: Blip Blah etc... it would have to be the new names that are the AKA's. when everyone shows info, it needs to be his original name, on my overview it needs to be his original name, on guest list in station it needs to be his original name and in local it needs to be his original name. And everyone must see the same original name. if one person is talking about name A, to his friend who is talking about name B, and these two players dont realise they are talking about the same person, then hunting players and target calling, and everything that is to do with a name becomes ridiculously confusing and broken.
Current name is what would show up everywhere. You see the prior names as AKA on the character sheets and when you look at employment history you would see the name they held under each corp they were a member of....
Overall, this would be more work for a cheap thrill. Best not to implemented when what EVE needs is more content... more ships... more ways to go boom. |

Have you noticed though over the past few years that these threads are gaining more and more positive response? Because CCP gradually simplifies things in EvE. As a result more and more casual players come to the game and voice their casual opinions and ideas on forums.
Dude! Those casual players help just as much as u do to keep eve going. Paying subs just like you.
Whats wrong with making the game a tad easier for new players? |

Chribba wrote:I keep voting no on such features, has to be some downside to trying to buy your way ahead... You mean like buying plex and selling it for ISK? Running Faction Warfare missions with a bomber that can warp while cloak when the Tier is high so you earn millions upon millions of LP in mere hours?
I like you Chribba, I really do. I just think you are completely wrong since there are very simple solutions to addressing issues like this that are brought up.
A player being lazy and impatient is no excuse to not doing something. The reason should be valid. |

I'll leave this here because Batelle summed the case against this up far better than I could when he posted in a similar thread.
Batelle wrote:absolutely not. This is pretty much equivalent to being able to pay CCP to make your character untraceable, which would be pretty horrible. Being able to trace toons across multiple owners is of critical importance to many people.

Also I seem to recall that the last time CCP made a comment upon this topic (I have been unable to find it, sorry but it may be buried on the old forums) it could be best summarised as "Not now, not ever now GO AWAY I'm busy". NBSI shall be the whole of the Law |

I can see times this would be of great use. I can also see it being abused badly. It would take some balancing to work.
I have a thread about a q-ship and think that would be great for people that wanted to use them. On the other hand people would frequently just use it to avoid being seen for the losers they are. |

Yes, it is being discussed. By CCP, what's more.

We have actually looked into this, but haven't decided anything yet. If we do end up introducing this, there would probably be some limit to how often you can do it, it would not be a way to escape your past and your previous names would be clearly displayed and searchable. Maybe if was for an obscure amount like 100 plex... then you have to take a hit if you really want it. Is that my two cents or yours? |

Only way I would see this working is if it can only be done when a character is sold to an account that is not owned by the same person. Tengu Grib > I agree.
