Right now, you're allowed to sell time codes for isk. That's it. You can sell new account cd keys for cash as they're a product that you bought with cash and own. You can do what you like with them but you can't trade them for ISK.

Most likely his local game shop had a huge stock of eve-online CDs to get rid of. Most game stores don't realise most people sign up through the free trial or sign up online and the CDs don't sell very well so you occasionally get a shop selling a bunch for peanuts.

I assume you can. I've seen it done, and it seems similar enough to timecode selling that it would fall under the same category. -- Proud member of the [23].

They explicitly said time codes for isk is OK. You're to assume that nothing else is OK. Just because it's similar doesn't make it the same thing. They didn't allow a "category" of trades, they allowed a single trade: isk for time codes.
Honestly, it's not worth risking your account over something this silly and the final word on it goes a bit like this, if I remember correctly: o You may not trade out-of-game items, services or currency for in-game items, services or currency. o You may trade game time codes for ISK.
The second rule is an exception to the first. It's the exception that proves the rule. By saying you can never do it and then giving you one exception where it's allowed, it's assumed that there are no other exceptions unless mentioned.

Devs might be kinda busy and might not reach this thread but you can email [email protected] or use the Ask A Question feature.

I havnt sold any at all yet. Im asking if its allowed so i dont risk anything. A key is like a time code except with letters. I assumed everything you told me, but thats why Im asking.

Yeah, best to wait for the go-ahead from a GM but honestly I don't see that happening. They never said you were allowed to trade CD keys for isk and any decision that allowed that would be covering new ground. A GM can't allow it, they'd have to ask the devs directly and they'd have to discuss it.
Just because it's a bit like a time code doesn't imply that it's bound by the same rules.

A GM could bring it to dev attention so they can discuss it for you, probably. You should still ask anyway. And let us know if you're allowed :p.

It's probably a long-shot to get dev attention via the forum :p. But I notice Oveur reads general discussion every morning at about 9AM GMT. It's 2:30AM GMT so if the thread is about in six and a half hours, he will probably see it. <--- whorum fore.
