All the feedback we got last year, it was very clear we were headed in not the right direction. I wanted to pull us back in the right one. So goals for 2012. What is it that CCP is going to be doing for you, the EVE player as we go through this year?..
We're gonna stop the Jesus features. We're gonna stop the huge "There's gonna be one great amazing thing that will change EVE forever" attitude....
We're gonna be about concentration on the industrialist, the pvpers, the null seccers, the factional warfare players, the role players, everybody that's actually played at the heart of the game. That's what we are gonna be about this year, is that core spaceship game.
Iteration is not a dirty word. There are so many things that we can go back to...that we can re-balance...add things to. Which isn't creating something completely brand new..but going back and giving those things a bit of invigoration...
Building on that, you [eve player base] are the important people...you guys have very clear views on what is a great game. We [CCP] need to make sure that the game is fun for you. We need to make sure that we are delivering something you want to play.
And so that listening, that engaging back with the community, that developers becoming more accessible [and] looking for that feedback, getting back what it is that you want to see in the game. That is what we are doing this year. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

CCP please sto hiring from your fan base to positons that have a final say in GAME BALANCE! Consultants are fine. They have expertise but they also have agendas.
those of us that pay the same 9 or more) subscription are hurt when this happens.
Also please consider only hieing players for color commentary in official eve events like Eve Tournament. Perhaps look to experienced journalists like folks from Ten Ton to announce and people involved in the game ( like Kil2) to add color and their eve knowledge (think pro sports coverage).
Just a thought.

Idk, maybe you need some break from the game. Everyone in a while gets tired by playing the same game for years. I came back recently and 'im having lots of fun by playing in small doses.

I have to wonder about CCP's direction for EVE since the Incarna debacle. Going back to the basics was a good thing since it fixed a few long-standing issues and rebalanced others, but now I just feel like CCP doesn't really know what to do with the game. At least with Incarna/WiS they seemed to have a passion and an idea for the future, now they just ask the players for ideas and seem to make minor changes to things that didn't need changing just for the sake of it.
For me, it in part comes back to the rapid release of expansions issue. Whenever people bring up complex issues that need addressing (POS's, drone AI, corp/alliance management, grid mechanics), the reply tends to be that it is a complex issue and that they are too busy working on the next expansion. Wouldn't it be better to release fewer expansions and free up dev time for long-term fixing/redesign for a while? |

I think CCP had lost their way in 2010-2011 and the debacle surrounding Incarna was a symptom of that. Ambitious ideas were being shoehorned into short development periods without the resources to do the concepts justice.
In the wake of realisation that things had been going awry, Jon 'CCP Unifex' Lander was instrumental in steadying the ship. Under his tenure as Executive Producer, he did exactly what was needed and as a result, the Crucible, Inferno and Retribution expansions were largely focused on iteration with a few minor features bolted on. It was the shot in the arm that EVE needed.
Now Lander has moved on (to explore CCP's mobile strategy) we are starting to see a return of some of that ambition. But in moderation, that is a good thing.
In order to be commercially successful, EVE Online needs to stay up-to-date and be appealing to new players as well as those heavily-invested veterans, or it will fade, becoming solely the playground for an ever dwindling dedicated player-base.
In short, I don't think CCP has lost its way. Quite the opposite, I think it is just finding it again.

I-¦ve got no problem with that. I guess, only fixing little things isn-¦t what a game developer likes to do all the time anyway (unless you-¦re called CCP Karkur). While all those little fixes have had a HUGE impact on the quality of the game, why not let them dream at least a bit again. They won-¦t stop fixing small things because of that (I hope. If they do, lets shoot some statues). |

NO, they found their way with GREED IS GOOD and have not turned back since. Sure they have given LIP SERVICE to having learned their lesson from that hot mess since then. However, I tend to look at what CCP does vs what they say. |

I want:
- remodeled/fixed PVE - more, better missions - fixing/updating drones things - better incursions (more version of them like angel, guristas, more variety etc) - truly updated exploration - fix LS/NULL - fix POSes - remodel industry and mining for better, cooler - HD textures - remodeled UI
Overall fix and expand existing stuff with some little new things like those mobile depots, tractor unitc etc and then give us new stuff like ring mining, WiS, more station interiors, new graphic effects like those shield and armor damage effects showed on fanfest |

No friend I am aware of the date. The sentiment is the most important thing. After one year, CCP has seemingly returned to a stadard that proved problematic and lead to the events which propted that keynotethat key note.
I posted it because I believe in that time testament that those who not remember (and learn from) their past are doomed to repeat it.

The last few expansions have picked off the majority of the low hanging fruit, at some point they have to start thinking big again. This. The problem with incarna was that we got 1 room with 1 person that melted graphics cards. You couldn't do anything. And then no spaceships for :18 months: nex store gold ammo greed is good happened. Naturally people threw a fit.
If you could shank people in station and make em loose implants, no one would have said a bad word about incarna. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the idea of WiS or EVA exploration (would certainly beat the hacking minigame) as long as their is actual game play and content, not just an internet fashion show.
Its good that CCP spent effort to fix the core game, but now the core game needs expansion. |

I've been wondering this past couple years if the problem isn't that they aren't thinking big, it's that they've hit some foundation level hard-limits on either hardware or code and are basically trying to do the best they can within those limits.
It would be bad to just tell the customers "we can't do much more than we already have", so they get stuck with trying to keep the game alive with improvements that are meant to give the appearance of progress. Profit favors the prepared |

TRUE STORY
I left the game (6 accounts) more than a year ago partially to burn out but more so because I found a better way to spend my time feeling appreciated as a customer.
A few weeks ago I returned. I followed posts and re-learned the game. I subscribed a few accounts and made a few posts about concerns. Then I found the RHML thread. Feed back was horrible at best (from devs) but I pushed on.
Today CCP Rise announced that he will push through a very unpopular change to game mechanics despite overwhelming lack of support, with no testing, with no metrics revealed, just because a few of his mates on CSM like it.
As a result, I will ride out this month and wait untl CCP rights this ship to re sub.
Have fun EVE and no you can not have my stuff.
