You have your ninja's that bait mission runners into attacking, and you have your white knights that come to the defense of the mission runner that foolishly engaged. I've done the whole ninja thing, and I'd like to try the whole white knight thing now, but haven't a clue how to find these white knights. Google was not very helpful.
Anyone know the names of any white knights or white knight corps? |

I can't imagine there'd be much profit in it. QCATS is Recruiting: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=146180 |

Its a pointless task really because defending stupid doesn't generally fix stupid, and you'll arrive too late anyway and there is a risk the mission runner is just bait for you. I'd be surprised if anyone actually seriously did this, beyond assisting fellow corp member. |

I've seen it, I know it exists, and I know someone out there knows someone. It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO. |

The problem is you can't just go out and find players getting victimized by pirates. There's just no efficient or effective way of doing it.
If these people did exist, it's much more likely that they would instead focus their efforts not on going out and helping other players, but rather on making themselves look like victims and baiting out pirates. |

There is an efficient way to do it:
You get to write down all the names, ships and ship IDs of people who are ninja looting with only one goal in mind: escalating situation after a mission runner attacks the ninja looter. Each ship has an ID which stays the same unless it's repackaged (I can't find a thread where I've written stuff about an ID ... If I find it, I'll edit the thread). And found it here: Ship ID
I've organized few fleets against the ninja looters with intention of killing the logistic ship since they've used primarily destroyer-sized ships in combination with a logistic ship. It was fun for few weeks, then it just got boring :). There was one really big organized group (I think around ten people) who had around four logistic ships so take care. |

White knighting missioners who aggress baiting ninja salvagers/looters is like you're trying to save a dog which is going to die no matter what you do, sure you may save a few once or twice, but as mentioned previously in this thread, stupid is a disease that is incurable and terminal. |

White knighting always seemed ridiculous from the point of game mechanics. Even dumber than camping gate in the middle of lowsec. You face same limitatins as ganker yet you cant choose engagement. |

if you want to white knight you should just figure out where the gankers are and use killrights to alpha their catalysts with a tornado.

Most often missioners get to notice the local "idiots" as I call the griefers... I mean they cant compete with Low Sec / Null Sec Players so try to suicide gank miners or , gank mission runners naive enough to agress them...
I myself during my brief visits tend to do a lvl4 or tw-¦ and watch for a flagged "local idiot" and ask in local if anyone in trouble... Mostly I merely tell in local "Combat probes around * be careful ppl" which is enough to save some newbie |

"White Knighting" as you describe it never worked.
Before probing was changed to allow pinpointing ships in space in two minutes I used to run missions in low sec Placid. To defend against pirates that came through every now and then we had intel and defense channels, but I don't remember us preventing a single kill. By the time the attacked had typed his help request (this was before EVE voice and the channels were too loose to have their own comms), we left our current activity, docked (this was still during the 30s-Wait-For-Scotty times), changed into PvP ships, undocked, warped to the victim... he was dead two times over.
We did manage to kill a few pirates if we saw them start probing soon enough (back then it took 10-15 minutes to locate a ship or drone in a mission), but with the Apocrypha probing system it became impossible to do anything in low sec that required you to remain uncloaked in one position for more than a few minutes. |

I'm looking at high sec, and despite all the nay-sayers, I know there are people that do what I'm asking about as I've battled against them when I was doing the ninja work. I just can't remember who they were, and apparently nobody else knows who they are either. I guess I'll just have to go wandering the mission hubs and watching local to find them. See if I can't get into a few fights...
Thanks everyone for your responses. |

how do you know those "white knights" were not just alts of the guy you were baiting?
