For a while I was able to afford to get plex to feed my PvP addiction. But now I'm having to look in game.
So The question is;
What services are corps/alliances (maybe even soloing pilots) willing to pay an individual to do?
I know that Corps will hire Mercenary corps and Hauling corps. But what can a single Pilot offer that could earn him or her a quick pay check without the hassle and draw backs of joining a corp? |

Join a 0.0 corp and become one of their carebears. You'll fund yourself and your overlords will skim some off the top. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Depends on that single pilots reputation...
You can earn billions or nothing. Well you could always try hauling. There are plenty of public contracts. I know you are familiar with RvB. Perhaps they would add you to their hauling channel since they need a lot of things moved.
Station trading is another decent way to make isk, though not extremely exciting.
Aside from that...I'd move to null or wormhole space. Plenty of isk there, though it would probably require joining a corporation. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com |

If working for other players interests you, the concensus seems to be that there are two basic categories of services that people will pay for - hauling things around (excruciatingly boring and probably pays very little) or murder and meyhem. If you go the merc route, as Mr Kane said, it's all about reputation.
Another option you may want to consider is working for yourself. When I found myself in your situation about a year ago, I moved back to highsec and took up shooting carebears and stealing their things. At first I was just doing it to raise isk to fund my nullsec PvP, but I had so much fun that I have made it my EVE career path and haven't looked back. everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com |

Agree with Haedonism Bot.
Much of my ISK comes from trading. But I don't just trade, I cause chaos to drive demand for goods. Why just sell Mackinaws to the 'natural' demand for the hull, when you can increase demand by ganking Mackinaws in nearby systems? https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. An enemy is just a friend that you stab in the front. |

Honestly, I see no point in hiring a lone merc.
If you hire a merc, usually you hire a whole corp of them. |

History has shown that a lone merc or a small merc corp who know what they are doing is often more effective than a large merc corp, depending on the nature of the job. everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com |

Some of these are not going to be easily available to new guys (due to needing to build trust before getting hold of anything valuable), but there are a lot of behind-the-scenes jobs that many corps and alliances require to keep running. Sov (and even non-sov) holding alliances have a lot of really tedious, monotonous tasks that are required to keep their empires rolling (POS fuelling, POS gunning, POS timing, hauling sov upgrades, checking timers on reinforced structures, hauling doctrine ships, fitting ships for handing out to newbies, scouting enemy staging systems, running cyno chains, moon scanning, adjudicating squabbles between members, and many many more). Some of these get delegated to alts, but still, if you are one of those slightly-damaged individuals who actually enjoy those tasks that everyone else avoids like a dose of the plague, the alliance will often see to it that you are well rewarded for saving everyone elses sanity (and to make up for time you are losing that could be spent making yourself money). |

You have never hired Cannibal Kane I see. I see plenty of merc corps go several war decs with no kills as the great lone merc kills in every dec. One great player will do better than several bad ones any day.
It all depends on the player, Kane will kill. |

Another way to frame the original question is this: What can you do that a corp's member base can't or wont? That narrows things down drastically. To virtually nothing, in many, or most cases. Why pay for something if your member base can do it acceptably for free?
I find that the available niches that qualify the above standard lie in market-related activities - for example stocking a market, or acting as a buyer. The service you provide is convenience - You do what they could do, but do not feel like doing. They can sell to you or buy from you at their present location, instead of some place like Jita, and they may pay a small premium for the ability to do so.
However, this doesn't really involve being hired.
