Too bad the major contenders for such an act are all committed to The Great War 9 or 10 (we've lost count).

if not all, most.
probably above 80%.
the sooner they go down, the sooner players/corps/alliances profit.
if they are going to be taken down at all, it's most efficient to do it as early as possible.
i am picturing large roams where they are just sequentially taken down in sequence. |

I think I read an estimate that there are about 2500 planets in high-sec. It would be very insightful if someone could generate a graph that shows how they change hands after the update goes live.
There are actually a little over ten thousand planets in highsec.

I think many of them will be taken. There are some fairly large alliances in HS, maybe not as big as goons and co, but I expect there to be some epic battles about to occur in HS, lets hope the nodes around the hubs are well reinforced. Even the more outlying areas, why pay Concord taxes when you can put up your own, yea it costs iskies, but if your corp is not planing on moving, it just makes sense. Of course I may be wrong.. Well, being as the income from Hs Pi is pretty poor, and people do it more as a hobby, than as a real income, It begs the question as to why CCP keeps saying they are very valuable. if the poor devils doing Pi in HS can't make money how do you expect the customs offices to?
Ok HS factory planets are easier to work, but really, isn't this more about locking them down to force the price Of PI up?
No people doing PI in hisec for peanuts therefore value of Null Customs offices goes up so more conflict in Null to make up for Moon Goo losses?
Within 3 months HS customs offices are replaced and will have 90% tax.
No Pi taking place and the HS customs office owners quite happy with how that worked out. Fairly easy to work out who the owners are.
Or I could be completely wrong and No One has thought of that?

It's almost like the "I've never been ganked but ganking is out of control" arguments. According to some, hisec PI is so vitally important that any disruption will destroy the economy, but so worthless that even a 1% rise in tax and everyone will move elsewhere to PI. The risk of having your day ruined by other people is the cornerstone with which EVE was built and we want to keep that (infact, this is much more representative of the consensus opinion within CCP). |

Of all the planets say, within 5-6 jumps of major trade hugs (hubs, even ?) -- maybe 400-500. Temperates and Barrens... where you can actually put "factory" setups in place for P4 finished products.
The rest simply aren't worth shooting at for more than recreational angst and, to most people, not worth the investment in time or POCO's.
For those living in WH's and Null -- this is mostly a "non-event".
Other than that, the odd star system or two that is so far off the beaten path its only of interest to those already living there in relative peace and quiet.
Really, it's not that big of a deal -- and DEFINITELY not worth the hype level of an expansion. There is waaaaaaaay cooler stuffz to think about.

I am not convinced the owners will be doing it to kill the PI market. Whomever manages to get their poco's up and keep them up will have a nice little passive income, even if they set tax to 5%. IMO only big groups will manage to keep them, of which RVB is one , which is not that bad as many players go there to learn PVP and they give a lot of ships and fits away. mynnna also commenting in this thread with a possibly precise number leads me to believe the goons may well be interested in some prime HS real estate

You are very wrong.. whatever happens, prices for PI products could change, this change impacts everyone as null and WH players are the biggest producers.. but I could be wrong.. lets see...

the planets capable of advanced factories near Jita? all of them. storm planets in random dead end systems? none of them. a few planets in high sec a worth a damn and those a maybe worth a fortune. the others would be an expensive waste of time to replace but maybe funny to destroy. here is a list of all the fiat currencies that didn't end up at zero value.....and here is a list of the places where a currency pegged to a real commodity has successfully co-existed with compound interest....-á Here is a physics professor explaining why sustainable growth isn't a thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-QA2rkpBSY |

An awful lot of people would not go to low sec if you payed them too. The real question is how far from trade hubs are people willing to move thier PI stuff to evade player taxes.
What they should of done is release a probe like item to scan a planet and find infrastructure on it. Then you would at least have a mean to see if it's worth a damn to deal with a POCO. Instead, it will all be wild guesses. |

Well you CAN see other player infrastructure on planets its just you need to white out the planet view to have any chance at all of spotting the command centers and then click on them individually to get the infrastructure to show up.
But yes, agreed, a slightly more user friendly way of seeing other player infrastructure (that should really stand out like a sore thumb from orbit) would be nice. |
