Right... with ISK you buy ships you have fun with and as long as you make more money than you lose while killing other ships you can keep having fun, but you do not need to amass billions of ISK in order to do so. |

Those two Navy EANMs would not have gained much attention had the Tengu been tankier than it was or simply not been there in the first place (who the hell calls the use of Navy EANMs a "standard fit" except super rich people?) or the ship not been auto-piloted. From -5 to 0 I haven't done, but from -2 to 0, buying the tags in Jita and then paying at the Security Office a few jumps away, it was about 250 million ISK last week.
It's not cheap to buy back sec status, but it's not necessary either for the gankers. They can work effectively in highsec with even -10 sec status. |

Anyways, I see a lot of concord on empire gates every time i come out of w-space, a lot more then a few years ago even.
The fact that suicide gankers are these days ganking even standard fleet ships, i.e. scrapping bottom of the barrel, means this particular mode of pvp is getting out of hand.
I have checked killboard of that no-doubt multiboxing dude. Thousands of empire ganks, not a single loss, and at regular intervals, fresh set of 10-12 catalyst pilots.
Its not cool. Ganking haulers for chance to make a pile of isk - great, all for it. Ganking standard fleet ships - wtf? Whats next, they going to suicide-gank FW frigates en route to lowsec?
Right now theres no consequences to suicide ganking. Let me correct this, there no MEANINGFUL consequences. Security status? Please, so easy to work around it. Cost of ships? 2mil per destroyer is not a cost. Brutix hull? Pff.
Solution.
Make it cost something to gank. I propose rework of bounty and kill right mechanic:
Want to suicide gank? Pay to shoot. Pay to concord to activate a temporary kill right on your victim, with price determined by value of the victim. And heres the kicker - victim determines his value by paying to concord his own bounty.
So lets say I want to avoid getting ganked, I think Im not worth more then a bil, so I pay to concord my value, 1bn. That expires, like insurance, by the way. Call it suicide insurance, can tie it to clone value.
Anyhow, ganker wants to gank me, he has to now pay to concord a proportion of that value tied to value of my ship or something, and then he can get a kill right on me. Otherwise, cant shoot me in high sec.
This forces gankers to PAY. Ends rampant non-targeted ganking, AND solves isk inflation. Guess who I'm going to gank tomorrow.
I'm thinking the same thing.
AUTOPILOT is a bad word. Gankers rarely catch you if you aren't autopiloting. Play the fecking game adn you won't die.

You've been away... in a relatively isolated part of the game... where the only things you have to deal with are Sleepers and random incursions from relatively small forces.
I personally never fit faction EANMs unless it is a battleship or carrier as the risk for losing anything smaller is very high (almost routine, in fact). My corp and alliance largely do the same. Most low-sec people follow similar "rules" as well. Hell... unless you are in a capital, almost no one fits an officer mod on anything more than T2 in null-sec.
Risk is all relative.
The problem is when when what you think think is "normal" meets the "normal" for different areas with different rules. That is what happened here. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Not really. Freighters can carry loads of materials, as long as the value of the cargo is less than the cost it takes to gank it then it's relatively safe. You can still get ganked by someone that doesn't care, or has it in for you, but you can stand proud knowing they didn't make a profit.

Actually, i agree with you on this and, unlike you, i am/was a suicide ganker, but my perspective is different, because i don't like playing easy-mode.
I don't understand how other gankers can come up with the bullshit of "risk", while at the same time having neutral alts scanning ships/creating warp-ins, while the ganking characters hide in station 99% of the time.
If they, at least, exposed themselves more, so people see they have to deal with faction police and other players, then there wouldn't even be an argument.
Then nobody would have actual ground for complaining about them having no "risk" and how suicide ganking is too easy or anything.
But no! Instead, we have the situation we have now and i keep calling them cowards and losers, because that's how they display themselves, with lousy, whiny excuses about how the mean faction police or the mean players prevent them from doing anything ... which is complete bullshit. I can obviously tell.
(i hope i don't agree with you too often. most of the time you're a self-righteous, lying hypocrit) |
