at first pleased to meet you all :)
i started my char exactly 21 days ago (already i subscribe for 3 months) and today as i can see my summary so far is ok (i think)
i managed to have so far 5 implants +4, bought a normal raven and equip it with rigs-items i have a hangar with estimated value at 179 mill and 578 millions in cash... my best "buddy" so far was exploration and it seems that i continue to follow this path... so here we are ... should i look to buy a Gnosis insteed my sukuvesta Heron because of the patch (shards detonation, rats spawn etc.) or the changes wont be so dramatic?
any advice will be helpfull for me because i'm still newb :) and tnx a lot in advance...

Hello and welcome! First off, don't worry too much about accumulating implants at the stage you are in. Second, if you enjoy exploration then you can either aim for your racial Covert Ops frigate that has exploration bonuses - i.e Anathema for Amarr, Buzzard for Caldari, Helios for Gallente, or Cheetah for Minmatar - OR you can aim for one of the Sisters of EVE bespoke exploration frigates that are coming into the game TODAY after downtime. These are specifically designed for the new exploration features, but a standard racial exploration frigate will do just as well if you don't really plan on running the new Ghost Sites. A Gnosis is a big investment, and will probably benefit you further down the road in terms of your Skillpoints. Hope that helps. |

You do know, that Gnosis has no bonuses for hacking, don't you? If you are low skill, then 6 mid slots and 37 % bonus to scanner strength are defenetly worth buying Gnosis. But if you get your covert op skills to 5, then

Reasons to fly Gnosis is its ability to clear combat signatures, that it will find. You do not need scanner ship and combat ship - you have all in one. Another reason is 900 m3 cargo , expandable with 6 low slots, assisted by 6 mid slots for shield and greate agility. Thats makes an interesting high sec cargo ship out of it. The one, that can not be ganked so easely.
But if you are rich... You can buy Stratios - the very best ship for exploration so far. If you do not mind to fly in ambulance, of cause...

I personally would add a cargo scanner to this. Definitely add a cargo scanner, in fact.
Also, check this link. Very helpful to exploration pilots.

It's only a new type of side that detonates, and they are very rare.
Do not bring your Heron into one.
You don't need a Gnosis for them, though - a well-tanked frigate can handle them just fine. |

My advice:
1. Stop using real life money to buy in-game stuff. You aren't even skilled enough to fly it anyway - nor do you have the experience to fly it remotely competently.
2. Forget about the Gnosis for exploration. Gnosis are gank-bait. Flying around it one is just asking to get shot up. Just about anyone in my corp would love to ambush a Gnosis. As has already been stated, the Gnosis has no bonuses for exploration anyway. You're better off in your beginner frigate.
3. Exploration doesn't make ISK. Not in high sec space anyway. The profits from exploration sites fell through the floor with the Odyssey expansion. The only place you can really make much money off exploration solo is out in low sec or null sec. And out there, you're going to lose your Gnosis REALLY fast. You'll spend more replacing your Gnosis than you will be getting off the sites you are running. Either train for a covert ops frigate with a covert ops cloaking device, or just stay in your exploration frigate. For exploration combat sites, you can work your way from destroyer to cruiser to battlecruiser.
4. Sell the Raven - it was a mistake for you to buy one at this stage in your career. |

Depends on what exploration he will do, if he will do relic and data sites then I agree whole heartedly... But if he used that Gnosis to run DED sites found throughout hisec he will find he can make an absolute killing in ISK for a new player.
OP - 0.5 space DED sites such as the Minmatar DED 4 can yield anything upto 400mill for about 30 mins work. Of course, you wont always get them, and they arent always going to drop anything, but when Gistum C-Types drop its worth it...
As for people telling you to sell the Raven, I say keep it. Keep it in your hanger and use it as something to work towards. You dont want to be flying it for at least the next 6 months (if not longer). First, work on your core and support skills and such. If youre Caldari and also want the Raven, I suggest finding setting yourself up with Shield skills and Missile skills on top of the Spaceship Command and Core skills.
Next time I am in game I will mail you over some ideal "work towards" skills that will give you something to work towards. Also, take a look at the new IsIs screen and click the Raven, it will give you and idea of what you need to be effective with it. Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

While I fully agree that he shouldn't fly a Raven after 21 days, it takes much less than 6 month to be able to fly a battleship. If you focus your training on this, you can fly a Raven well after about 3 months. If you know what your doing, you can even run lvl 4s after 2 months, but I wouldn't suggest that for a brand new pilot.
Of course, you do not only need skill points, but also pilot skill, but that can also be acquired in 3 months - depending on how fast he learns, how much he plays and what he does. |

I was assuming he wouldnt just be focusing his SP into a BS and the support skills when I stated this. Im assuming he will also be training for other things like "ooh I fancy training Stealth Bomber" or "Ooh Cerberus, now theres a ship I like the look of flying" (as well as things like T2 modules and the like).
Sorry, should have clarified in my original post. actually i can fly raven atm (BS skill lv 1) but i wont till i finish cruise missiles-shield upgrades-weapon upgrades and targeting lv 4 at least... i figured out that its the minimum to check and see all required skills for a ship to be lv 4. the other thing that i saw till now is with these combat probes i have "visitors" in my mission places stealing loots from wrecks and practically i cant do anything to prevent this. in my topic now.... heron still can empty those infoshards from their loot with easy and i wonder i ever find a ghost site in high sec that i live atm , so any exploration ship upgrade atm its not needed. as for lv 4 missions already we cleared 2 of them with a fellow drake pilot.... very nice to see 752k isk bounties at these BS's
p.s. we wont try silence the informant lv 4 for sure.... |

No....you can SIT in a Raven.
To fly a raven you need more then just the skill to be able to board it. As explained above.
You need your tanking skills up enough to be able to properly fit a tank. You need your missile skills + missile support skills up enough to fit a proper gank on it. You need general support skills to match a BS sized ship (so good capacitor / PG / CPU skills). Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? J'Pol, you give sound advice. But do read his next sentence.
OP does have a list of Core, Shield and Missile skills that will be good for what he wants and he is training support skills up.

On having support skills, I have my own experience.
I moved up into an omen the instant it became available thinking I would go back and rule the missions I was doing well, even better.
I took my omen, fited it with medium beams I could barely fit, and absent mindedly stuck one drone in my bay that had room for 3, but I only had drone 1 so one drone it was.
I got a really easy mission, only 4 rats. Took me 45 minutes to kill what I did in 5 minutes in my frigate. And only because I brought that drone. My turrets never hit anything.
But it is a lot easier to train support skills now. Because you disdained all my counsel, and my reproof you ignoredGÇö I, in my turn, will laugh at your doom; will mock when terror overtakes you; -- Ultimate Griefer's Handbook |
