My question is directed at RvB. What did you gain by getting into bed with these things? ~This is now a kink shaming thread~ Who we go to bed with and how we do it is none of your business Dinsdale. Dinsdale is more than welcome to join us, its my experience that the crazy's are always great in bed.

My question is directed at RvB. What did you gain by getting into bed with these things? Let's go off on a tangent here, for a moment. This is a video game. It's played by people, many of whom belong to various player organizations. GSF is a large organization, populated by people, who are playing a video game. They do tend to play to win, but that's not uncommon in video games, and there's certainly nothing wrong with it. They're just people whose goals in a video game are at odds with yours. Your attempts to dehumanize them and treat them as if they are, in fact, a great evil instead of just people playing a video game suggests that you need to step back and examine where the line between game and reality is drawn. Once you realize that not everyone is afflicted with a basic inability to distinguish "evil" from "people playing video games", it's quite easy to see why RvB would be fine with this. Why *wouldn't* they be? Since we've removed the irrational-bordering-on-insane moralistic reasoning from the equation, what's better for RvB? Engaging in protracted and expensive POCO bashing battles against GSF? Or just saying, "Hey, let's just not shoot each other's POCOs, cool? Cool."
i think the point you missed was that RvB are generally held in better stead than GSF.
Without delving into the squalid quagmire of morality too deeply, GSF do not play well with others, a trait all too common to gamers, and increasingly leaching into RL relationships. |

This man is much too rational, we need to revoke his Eve Forum posting licence!
Seriously though. RvB (and goons) have tax rates that makes it *cheaper* for you to do PI than the NPC rate... and people are upset by this?
Edit: the RvB rate is 5%. There's a 10% NPC rate on top that you can reduce to 5% with the new PI skill, for a total of 10% (just so we're clear) |

Tiresome is a good word to describe people who counter adverse statements as being somehow, someone losing touch with the line between real and space world. Lazy is another.

Dinsdale is actually right on this count.
We truly are a great evil. We are such horrible people that we barely qualify as human beings. The things I've seen, the things I've done as a goon, both in Eve and elsewhere, are a laundry list of unspeakable horrors. There is a reason we have FC's who can run around shooting structures for days on end. It is because the only thing more fearsome than 'suddenly PL supers' are the senseless atrocities we have committed that haunt us in our sleep.
I actually respect Dinsdale, both his insight and courage on calling us out on how evil we are. In a way I also pity him, because the longer he stares into the moral abyss of the goons, the more he becomes one of us. And there is nothing more depraved, more pitiable, more cripplingly awkward than a self-hating goon, and Dinsdale would be the self-hatingest of goons.

Giant, stable alliances having a duopoly on these is honestly probably better for me, a random, than having the convenient planets constantly in flux. Of course it is the taxation choice that makes it this way.
Same 10% rate I'm used to, that I know works, that is easily tabulated in everyday calculations. Low chance needing to take into account that some of my planets are suddenly untenable and may need to be relocated.
Do I care that these giant alliances are getting half the taxes I used to pay to a black hole? Nope. Means **** to me.
If they make every POCO around Jita expensive all at once, I can benefit from the market instability. Small scale penalties that include me are much worse.
Not much to complain about as of yet. |

Not much to complain about as of yet. Don't forget that the raw amount you pay in taxes is lower than before the patch even at the same (or very slightly higher) tax rate due to the decreases in base values. Customs Code Expertise IV is all that's necessary to get lower rates on P4s which had the smallest percent decrease in base value other than P0s which had change documented in the dev blog. |

Not much to complain about as of yet. No but you see goons are evil and eat babies and the very fact of them continuing to breathe is killing Eve. CCP: Not out to ruin your game, out to ruin their game. |

lol... Is that C.R.E.A.M. ? It is no surprise. CCP knew they were gifting the null sec cartels another huge income stream with this. Didn't you know that about 2 years ago CCP changed the title of the game to Null Sec Cartels Online?
Sooner or later people will realise that is that way by design, not by accident. "Perfect crimes do not exist, for to be a crime, it must be proven." "Make the body count unacceptable to ensure your own safety." "Basic rule of covert ops: let someone else do your dirty work." |

I wish there was a button to give you all my likes. Or an applause. Or something more than a Whoo Thumbs Up! Yeah!
As far as conflict goes, Goons and RVB both took a lot of poco's in a lot of systems. Yeah it would cost a lot to war dec them, but small gangs could run circles and harass their poco's pretty easily without having to really engage.
There is another possibility, we may see the rise of some new high sec POCO empire. A group that could take and hold poco's all across new Eden. I'm not saying it is going to happen, but it could. Someone just needs to start it.
Or maybe I'm just trying to encourage people to blow each other up so they buy more stuff from me, you never know. |

Realistically, you need a large group of people spread across all time zones to reliably hold highsec POCOs.
In nullsec you can get away with a small group of high skill players in dreads and carriers to grind and rep structures. But in highsec you are stuck with subcaps, so you have to make it up with actual players or some serious multiboxing. |

I fully agree, it would be a huge undertaking the likes of which highsec has never managed to achieve. However if it ever does happen, I am inclined to think that POCO's might be the catalyst. |

When structure bashing you want short range high dps ammo. When time is tight and a structure needs to die it's all about the conflag crystals in large pulse lasers overheating to 95%. |

Ogres II. The POCOs don't have shields, so you can't sit at zero and blow stuff up with blasters and ogres. |
