Right, quick question. We're at war with a corp and they've joined an alliance - now I've read the mail again, and as far as I knew the rules about warring anyhow that should mean that both the corp and the alliance that corp are now a part of are war targets to us - correct? Are the alliance immediately a war target or do they have the 24 hours grace thing that you normally have to wait through? will we be told when this is over if this is the case?
OR does the corp have instant immunity? or is this bugged?
We signed in today finding that they've left for this alliance. We've since seen one of the members of the corp in space - a possible kill, but the overview is saying it's just a neutral. Should we still be shooting? are we allowed to? is this a bug? or wtf is going on?
Thanks, Xaeon

Stil need an answer, if we need to push another vote through or something daft I don't want to have to wait yet another 24 hours. Someone must know how the transition from one to the other works? (I mean how it actually does)

Once that corp joined the alliance you war was transfered to the allaince they are in. Now once they leave the alliance they are no longer at war.

they ran to the alliance to send you a war bill of 50 mill a week..... and yeah the whole alliance is in but you might want to make sure war color flash's purple or something to be sure on overview
good luck!

That's not what he is talking about...the corp they war dec'd joined an alliance.....then shortly after they quit that alliance and left the war. It's a loophole in the war dec system that some corporations take advantage of. basiclly they push the war off on some alliance and beat feet the hell out of dodge before anyone realizes it.
If I were you I would retract the war against the alliance and then war dec that corporation again. I would also place the name of the corp war dec'd here that way other alliances know what corporations NOT to let in their alliance.

Depending on which alliance they joined to dodge the war the alliance might join in on hunting them down.

Edited by: Xaeon on 23/02/2006 13:00:57 Nah, I obviously haven't made myself very clear. They are still in the alliance but there's been no progress made in terms of warring them instead. We've had no bill to pay vs the alliance and we're not at war with anyone it would seem? Though offically we still are. And yeah, if they want to hide in the alliance, they sure as hell will be being dec'd - I couldn't give a damn which alliance it is
Edit: It's just that nobody apppears as hostiles on the overview, not the corp, or the alliance etc

Hello Xaeon,
I'm sorry to hear your war costs will be increasing :p
I think its just transferred to the Alliance and the bill goes up to 50m a week or whatever it is. But it seems strange that your overview isn't showing them as a valid target.
Have you filed a bug report?

Corp button >> Wars >> Your wars.
This tells you definitively with whom you are at war and whether you can fight. If it says you're at war with an alliance, you are at war with all corporations in that alliance.
What does your corporation interface say?

Which is exactly the problem, it says atm we're at war with just the corp and that we can fight. Having seen them in space they don't appear as hostile (they could still be ofc and just not showing up as hostile). Our sec statuses are all on the border of empire accessibility (we're all -1.9). If we shoot and it's a bug ofc I would expect this to be corrected via petition, but we can't have one of us locked out of empire for the entire duration of the reply.
Butter dog - no not yet. I will have to file one of some sort when I get back tonight, though it'll probably be easier to just undec and redec again - this is a complete ******* pain in the arse, and a hell of a waste of time - what we're trying to avoid. I'll see what else I can do later on in game I guess

Hahaha, no not at all. Our reason for the declaration they know. They just happen to have run into the arms of a few more enemies - several birds with one stone

There was definitely something odd about how the alliance transfer and war was behaving. This may have been because the transfer went through during the extended downtime. When the servers came back up our corp members were showing us as a member of the new alliance (that is, blue star on <iss> tagged ships, etc), but no one else saw us as in <iss> (including other <iss> pilots themselves).
In addition sometimes when a member of my corp did an 'other wars' lookup on [MD-K] we would only see their war against [TLOS], other times we'd see one against [PRAX], but never one against <ISS>. And we've never seen [MD-K] listed in "our alliance's wars".
It gets better. One of the existing <ISS> war targets fired on one of our [PRAX] pilots in high sec and got ganked by concord. But others very clearly didn't have a concord response.
All of the above applies to the period after the extended downtime but before the usual scheduled downtime. Since then (and as of this writing there have actually been two DTs) I have not had any reports of any oddities. I logged in immediately after the servers came up and had an <ISS> pilot confirm that [PRAX] now had the <ISS> flag. We've not had any 'other wars' lookups on [MD-K] show [PRAX] as a target since then either, etc.
I'm just going to chalk it up to the server transfer flaking things out.
Oh, and I feel I should note: I initially filed an 'other' petition when we first noticed the war oddity (still no response). When I got the report of CONCORD ganking a war target when firing on one of our ships I filed an Exploit petition, which was quickly responded to as 'not an exploit' and dropped. |

It's not, sadly. Becuase they have to wait 24 hours to leave and join the alliance. It's fair game, according to CCP.
But luckly they left the allaince, Virii's industrial alt corp did a similar thing to us, they became the sole member of the fade union just to make us pay higher war bills.
