In dust why, oh god why do ALL the weapons have the bottoms attached all the way across? This makes no since and also adds weight and risk. First thing you are adding weight, I know I know they are super soldiers in unreal futuristic suits, but weight will ALWAYS come into play on the battle field. Second having them attached like that all the way acrossed the bottom will make it so they get hung up on things easier, and make carrying them more of a pain. And lastly there is just on real reason for it, and it looks like crap. Take the bottom thing off ALL the Dust weapons, it's uselesss, worhless, and in all honesty not combat effective. |

Somethings about weapon design won't change, having your weapon connected at the bottom all the way acrossed is a terrible idea now, and will be anytime your weapon is still hand held, sorry but thats the truth. Adding weight for no reason is just stupid to begin with, and then you make an area much easier to get hung up on things and make maneuvering your weapon around more tricky. You want your weapon to be easy to handle, reliable, accurate, and light, this makes it more difficult to handle then if that part wasn't there and adds weight. ounces = pounds.
And I do have a good amount of experience with a range of weapon systems, and some with gun smithing, so that does give me an insight to what would work, and what just doesn't make since. But act like a prick, it's hard to be tough through a computer haha. |

Fun > Realism
Nobody gives a crap if some part of the weapon is connected to another part of the weapon in the wrong way in a video game. It looks good and it works so that's it. Grahisha of the Intaki Liberation Front // Writer of Thoughts of a Clone Soldier // Latest entry, Honour published 24/11/13 |

Must say I agree with OP. The new Minmatar AR looks ridiculous.

It's the polymolecular assembly array component for the nanomachines used to create the weapons ammunition from the standardized munitions modules (the 'clips'). The clips contain the components for munitions construction, that bar is used to direct the construction and buffer it. It's distanced from the barrel to prevent interference caused by weapon fire.
It looks bad, imo, but that's just the way it is. |

Still looks horrible.
If they're going to give us bulky guns they could at least give us the mini-gun from Snow Crash! |
