Ok, im running lvl 3 security missions right now for Caldari Navy. My standing with my agent it reaching 10.0, and i can bring in a lot of LP doing this. I'm wondering what is up with the loot? i completely understand that they will not give out very good loot on every mission. but when i run 30+ missions in a day, 7 days a week and all i get is a Limos Assualt launcher, i think that's kinda weak!
Is the only way to get decent loot 0.0 belt hunting? does the loot change with the security rating of the system? im in a 0.4 system right now, and im always getting civi shield boosters dropping from 250k cruisers!
any insight/advice? or am i just greedy?

this is correct, mission loot stinks, and wont get any better the lower sec the systems you run in, you are just greedy.
though i dont see why BS's still drop civi boosters and small medium stuff, bs's should drop bs sized mods even if their not named.

In 3 months I have found about this:
1 arbalast siege 1 arbalast heavy missile 3 250mm prototypes 1 150 mm prototype +3 int implant +3 cha implant +3% damage large turret implant (sold for 17 mil) 1 ZGsomething cruise launcher 1 Limos cruise launcher 3 Local hull cargo extenders 1 beta hull cargo extender 2 Partial hull cargo extenders.
Some nice 800k isk+ items 1 raven and one scorpion worth of minerals
This is doing mostly lvl 3 missions but the best loot came from lvl 4 missions. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Edited by: Arakasai on 27/02/2006 16:53:42 Edited by: Arakasai on 27/02/2006 16:50:47 I generally do not bother to loot anymore unless the "profit" for the mission is built into the loot. So I loot drone missions for example, I loot 'Zor', I loot the bonus levels on Extraveganzas etc ...
Outside of that, you are better off just running the missions. In the amount of time it takes to loot a mission you could have done a second mission. You make more money off the bounty alone than you would off looting the previous mission.
And yes, I do not consider myself greedy but it would be nice to at least have the chance at decent loot in the missions. Even 0.1% of the chance of similar loot found in low sec belt ratting. At least something to make it remotely worth looting in missions. Hell, even getting battleship level gear off battleships would be an improvement. Right now there seems to be something in the code that says if the BS is over 600k it should either drop nothing, or 1 tech I non-named item to make you actually go and look. I still get sucked into looking once in awhile on those 1mill+ BS ... I cannot decide if it is because I am optimistic or stupid.
Oh, and just because I reread this and sound really grumpy. I love running missions, I just realize there is no point in looting them as they currently sit right now. I will continue to run them, and not loot, until such time as it becomes worthwhile to loot again. But I am not picking up the "rusty swords" anymore, it is just not cost effective. Storyline missions are where the big bucks are, so run many missions quickly and skip looting them.

I hate how some of the loot works, level 3 missions occasionally have decent loot, depends on the mission and the enemy though, it took me like 15 level 3 tech secret missions to get one implant, now granted it was a +3 implant, but still ridiculous given the pain you have to endure, not much of a 0.0 runner myself, bout the only time i go there is when i'm in my no implant clone in a shuttle :p so i wouldn't know about the loot out there yet.

If "better" loot dropped more often it wouldn't be worth as much.

I can understand not wanting to devalue good loot by making it too common. How about just making it so that they drop junk less often? It'd be awfully nice if the only cargo cans I saw actually had something in them that was worthwhile.

Where do you draw the line? I melt anything worth less than 200,000 isk. A day old newbie would love to get something worth 150,000 isk......
I can see the irritation with battleships dropping small armour repairers but I don't think the answer is to change it to increase the chance of dropping excellent named pieces of kit more often.
It would make more sense for them to drop more junk. At least it would have some melting value (knock on effects on the mins markets though).

Yeah that's true. Getting something worth 100k was a thrill when I was new and even now I get a decent amount of minerals from refining all that garbage.

I keep looting Civilian Shiled Boosters and Miner I in lvl4 missions. I'll be happy if CCP works on tuning looting table, but i can be satisfied even if they simply remove this crap from loot. It's boring to loot a can with that stuff inside, only a waste of time...

Edited by: Voin on 01/03/2006 14:49:52 Since RMR on the 6-th stage of Guristas Extravaganza the Structure stoped to drop any good items, all of it's very crappy now to me (i've done around 15 GE lvl 4 now since RMR).
Interesting if that happened only to me, or it was mess to everyone since RMR?
As well im not happy when both Ganzas (Angel and Guristas) 5-th stage named important BS's didn't drop a can!?! Named BS's u ending the mission with, by killing it! Interesting also, if someone found the same ****ty action of BS.

best thing ive seen so far is a 150mm prototype rail gun, from a level 2 mission. Like you said though, usually just ammo and other assorted stuff.

recently it feels like i've started getting a decent stream of ok named loot in my lvl 3 missions.. decent beeing 300k+. Ofc I only loot cruisers and other named ships, but I estimate that I net about 1mil per week from crapmission loot and at times 3-5mil. (note that I do about 10-16 missions a week)

I don't see the problem. You're completly safe, running easy missions for lots of LP and ISK rewards.
If you really wanted loot that badly you should be ratting in 0.0 or even .1 roids.
Different levels of compenstation. CCP has done a good job, in that aspect.

I'll have to chime in here and agree that looting blows, for 2 reasons.
First, depending on your ship and your drones, you could end up with loot cans spread over 100km! Who wants to afterburn (or even MWD if not in deadspace) over 100km for a Civ. sheild booster?
But if you read the Blood Patch Notes you will see that "The skill requirement for Small Tractor Beam I has changed from Graviton Physics level 1 to Science level 4. . This will make it easier to loot, because it reduces the time required to actually pick up the cans.
Second, most loot drops are sh*t. True, I got a 5mil named damage control and a 4.5mil named heavy missile launcher in the past week or so, the vast majority of the mission loot blows (I'm in a Thorax doing level 2 missions). But, if you refine all the stuff you get, the mineral haul is pretty good sometimes. Aprox 4k per megacyte and Zyrine, 110isk per isogen all add up after a while.
Also, BPOs for ammo are usually sold pretty cheap in empire. I was tired of not being able to find Uranium where I set up shop, so I just bought a BPO for 63k, and use my drops to get the minerals to produce my ammo. I can sell the rest if I want to, but just not having to go 4 jumps to find my ammo is worth buying the BPO and carrying it around with me.

The loot these days is pathetic. But if you do bring them in. just store them up and recycle them each week or 2 weeks. U get alot of nice mins. But stopped collecting loot fo weeks now. Its just not worth it. But i do loot missions if i know they can drop implants or other nice things. i rather get higher lp/rewards then loot. -------------------------------------------->

I got lucky and found a limited chrystal beta (loot, not reward) on a lvl2 mission... so it IS possible to get good stuff, though quite unlikely.

I got all my good cargo expanders off level 2 missions, but L3 are a wasteland of ammo and medium hull repairer I drops.

Hey, here's an idea, lets abandon mission loot altogether and incorporate it into the mission reward.
