There has always seemed to be a lack of missile ships. As it stood in Inferno (correct me if my memory serves me wrong), the Inquisitor was the only tech 1 ship with a bonus to EM missiles. It was also the only tech 1 missile ship that Amarr had. Amarrians are particularly in need of missile and drone ships for suplemental DPS because their beloved lasers are the easiest to resist. But come Retribution, and the Inquisitor was repurposed as the Amarrian logistics frigate, with the Tormentor having previously picked up the role of 3rd Amarr combat frigate. Problem: THEY ARE ALL LASER SHIPS!
Does Amarr really need 3 laser frigates? Couldn't one of them at least be given a full rack of missile hardpoints? Even without missile bonuses, I'd bet it would often get fitted with missiles. I'm not asking that it necessarily be the inquisitor hull. It could be the Punisher, since that one already has a defensive bonus (meshes well with unbonused weapons systems). Give the punisher 3 launcher hardpoints, do nothing else to it, and I'll be happy.
Would be nice to see at least one dedicated missile ship of each of the three size classes for Amarr. I realize missiles aren't their primary by any stretch of the imagination, but the Khanid do have a certain fascination with short range missiles. I find it hard to believe the Amarrian empire has not one single tech 1 missile ship.
Now I am also aware that the Prophecy has as many launcher hardpoints as it has turret hardpoints. But that does not make it a missile ship. It's not a gunship at all. Most PVP Prophecies are fit with neutralizers and nosferatus AFAIK. Its damage is primarily from drones.
So yeah, would like to see slightly more missiles on Amarr side! Would also like to see at least a handful of drone ships for Caldari too! (not Guristas)
edit: I am very happy to see launcher hardpoints on the Prophecy and Armageddon, don't get me wrong. I LOVE what CCP has done with them! Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |

I seem to recall that the Dragoon, Arbitrator, Prophecy and Armageddon all have missiles, drones and some kind of EWAR bonus.
+1 for giving the Sentinel a couple of missile hardpoints since it already has the drones and EWAR. |

Missile frigates need to be fast, or they are not very useful, that doesn't sit well with armor tanks so I'm struggling to see a use for an Amarr missile frigate. Maybe a brawling rocket frigate? With armor rep bonus, and a 7.5% rocket damage bonus, but no light missile bonus. I would have liked to see something like done with the kestreli except obviously with shield boost or shield resist bonus so we have a reason to use rockets and something different than kiting with missiles which i haven't been able to get the hang of, but I would be equally happy for Amarr to get something like that since I have amarr frigs trained to 5 as well |
