Heey guys, first post here.
I've been messing around in EFT on new Golem fits with Bastion etc.
But I was wondering if a XL-ASB would be viable for PvE. Over the medium shield booster that I am using now for cap stability etc.
Numbers are almost 4 times that of a Med Shield Booster, but I know it is burst tank only.
I fly in Blood space, so there are neuts.
Any thoughts? |

Not completely implausible. I used to use an XL ASB Nightmare which functioned fine in level 4 missions with short bursts. Now with Bastion and much higher resistances along with its boost bonus, ASB Golem is likely a very strong choice. |

From what I know, basically any ship that has a bonus to tank boosting and high resistances is viable for ASB/AAR . Golem has both. Maybe it's a little bit overkill with XL-ASB, you'll be the judge of that. It pops things pretty fast and I don't think they will completely drain your cap.

The XLASB works fine on all marauders with bastion. Seriously, the XLASB paladin is something to behold. |

For PvP a dual XLASB would work great, but ofr PvE just use a large shield boost, invul and maybe EM ward and 3 TPs, good to go |

A L-ASB would cut the defence numbers in half.. What I was thinking of was:
2x CN Invuln 3x RF TP LMJD XL-ASB
And yes, highs are for Torps.. |

Again if it's for Pve don't use ASBs ever, waste of money. If it's for PvP don't use faction, officer or deadspace modules |

The mistake you are making is thinking more tank is necessary. This is not the case in PvE. The goal is to run the minimum tank required. Having extra tank does not benefit you at all.
If you are already tanking everything with a cap stable setup why would you want to go to a unstable setup? It is madness. |

Its for PvE really.
It+¢ just that I noticed i can get a immense burst tank with a XL-ASB in certain situations. Compared to the "permarun" medium booster that I am using now. I want to use it for DED sites in nullsec, and there are quite a few neuting ships out there. (hence the "permarun") |

That's just the point really, it is capstable, as long as there are no neuts... And unfortunatly there are, and quite a few.
Also how is XL-ASB making my fit more unstable? It requires no cap at all, aslong as I feed those charges into it. |

First off if you are going against neuting, active tanks suck Train up and get a RS. You can fully passvie tank her and do over 1000DPS. Best 0.0 PvE ship out there |

You get 1400DPS with 44km range or less, you get 900DPS with jav to 80km and somewhere between both with T1/faction ammo.
A RS get's 1000+ with sentries and cruise. You can get over 1200 to 1300DPS but those are active. Im sure you can find my RS fit somewhere on here. I get over 250 shield rep every 1sec, and do around 1020+ DPS.
RS are slso nice because with drones you can change your damage size easy and type easy for whatever you are fighting. All I'd say is don't use scout or med unless the target is 15km to 10km from you. Sentries will handle anything past that. You can also up the shield rep per second pretty easy. I had a RS able to do over 600 shield rep every seoncd and still do over 700DPS. It was for officer ships mostly, but I also used it in heavy neuting sites when needed. |

Training sentry 5 now anyways, all I Will need is gallente BS5.
You are right about ranges for Torps, but npc's come within those ranges most of the time so I dont really worry about it.
Thanks for the fit and tips |

One key factor to consider, particularly given that you're in a cap-stable set-up at present... The burst tank you get from the ASB will be awesome, and should more than happily carry you through until you've killed so much that it doesn't matter any more... If, in a moment of inattention, you allow the booster to cycle too much and go onto a reload; can your Golem handle the damage you're taking for that horrendous reload time? If you're in Bastion and you don't have the option to run, if all you can do is sit, watching the red crosses getting closer and more dangerous, watching them blowing up all too slowly and watching that arc of red growing more and more pronounced...

I have already reconsidered my view on the fit. Although nearly 4k defence is nice, and I never let my boosters cycle full on (just pulse them), it has quite a few downsides. |

with bastion mode you can run a 2 slot shied tank on any on the mauraders, large shield rep + 1 inv is all you need, well that's how I`m flying a paladin |
