Hello,
I got a problem. During some of my work-related thingies I have to stay at a place where I can only log into the internet via vpn-client. All my Browser and Programs have to be set up then with a proxy server after that. (proxy.xyz.de:8080)
When I try to run the eve launcher, it tells me that there is no internet connection available.
Can you please help me figure out a solution? Sadly CCP has no clue (i put up a partition, wich resulted in no solution and got closed - There is no option to set the launcher as for a proxy-server).
How do you work around this problem? Thanks in advance! Jasmin |

Pretty much. Some guys have gotten around it by tunneling, i think (search for SSH), otherwise anything proxy-related is pretty much ignored in these parts. |

The EVE Client has never had explicit proxy support, and whilst some people have managed to route the connection successfully, it is unsupported. As for the EVE Launcher, there is also no explicit proxy support, due to this legacy reason. It is something we're looking into, but I can't offer you any tips or tricks in the interim. I guy I knew who worked at Western Digital used HTTP tunneling to get around it. Another used a remote desktop from his PC at work to his PC at home and played Eve on his home PC.
Unless your thread is limited to how 'awesum!' Eve Online is, ISD will lock the thread.-á You will find it is particularly common if CCP might have to make a public response to the thread subject, as opposed to bury it in the GM que for the forseeable future and then prohibit telling anyone what the GM said, if it's ever answered at all. |

Previous version of launcher (before login integration if I remember it right) was able to use http proxy settings from Internet Explorer, but it never was declared as "official feature". When new version of launcher was deployed, I reported this functionality degradation and got answer like "not supported". And now only way - use some tools like proxycap. Or BEERsuade admin@work to make a firewall hole for you. Edit: EVE client not working with http proxy at all, but may work with SOCKS proxy (not tested, just an idea). |

Am done having to use a proxy.
Thanks for all the tips. Wasnt able to run it tho. Well since I no longer have to use a proxy to play, I will just ignore this infunctionality for now. Hope I wont have to try it again. But still wonder why it is soo hard to implemnt such setting in the great launcher.
Cheers, Jasmin |
