Just started the game for the first time last night after the patch. I know after doing some reading of how this game differs from all the others and I haven't played anything other then the tutorial (twice) now. My question is which Race should I start off with? I'm not going to really be into the mining aspect of the game, although I realize some may be needed. My long term goal is PvP full time. Anything other then that and I could buy stand alone game. So any help for me is much appreciated.null

Start a amarr khanid character with high perception and willpower, thats what affects the skills needed in pvp the most. And specialize in a certain race ship's from the beginning, it doesent have to be the same race as your character is.

Caldari - they are the best ships for NPCing (which you will need to do from time to time) and allow you to branch out into Gallente (same turrets) and Minmatar (same Missiles). ______________________________________________ Hurrah I'm Unbanned \o/ |

I agree with the above, though to expand a little bit, your race really won't matter in the long term. What you need to find is a subrace with high Perception and Willpower, as mentioned, but you will also want good Intelligence and Memory for when you start into your Engineering and Electronics skills, which will make a huge difference when time comes to start worrying about ship fittings and capabilities. Avoid Charisma at all costs, it's fairly worthless unless you want a char that will be an alliance leader or trader.
All of the races have good fighter subraces, but as far as the ships go though, from what I can see Ammar and Gallente are the most popular for pvp, closely followed by the Caldari and Minmatar.
This isn;t the first time that this has been asked, so I will see if I can't find an old thread that explains the differences a little more.

Race really doesnt mmatter but make sure you have balanced attributes and as low charisma as you can manage. The new bloodline caldari is a great one to pick because of that.

Edited by: Quanteeri on 03/03/2006 16:14:48 Take a look at the document in this thread. It's a little old, but the concepts are still viable. It will give you a good idea of what capabilities are available and what are needed. Skills help greatly in pvp, but no where near as much as situational awareness.
