I have only been playing Eve for a few weeks but I am loving this game I have 2 characters Gallente and Amarr and there now is my dilemma I would like to try the other 2 Races/Factions and there ships but with only 1 slot left I now have to choose . So my suggestion is could we have a 4th slot so we can enjoy the experiences of all Races/Factions and not be left feeling like we are missing out on 1 experience path.
Please Consider and Thank You for a wonderful game. |

You can train for any race's ships on any character and use them with no penalty. Your character's race is mostly cosmetic and has no effect on your performance in game. |

You could of trained all 4 races on the one character and experienced all the races and factions, without wasting time training the same core skills on each alt.
The race you choose during characters creation is purely cosmetic and doesn't change what you can train. |

As said. Train the ships you want to try. 1 single character can do anything in EVE if you really want it, given you put enough time in the game.
Your character race only sets the following things: 1. Your looks, and even those are more similar now a days. 2. Where you start in New Eden. 3. What default skills you have pre-trained (which can be cross trained by anybody in a day). 4. What your NPC corps (both the one you start in and the one you end up in if you leave another corp). 5. Which rookie frigate you get when docking in a station without a ship.
A character race/bloodline or starting condition gives you benefits or penalties over ships compared to others. The skill, ship and module bonuses are the same for everybody in EVE. You forgot one thing affected by your race/bloodline, arguably the only one affecting gameplay in any way: your bloodline determines where you can place your medical clones from anywhere in the universe by default. This allows you to quickly podjump to your favorite region without needing a corporate office there. Caldari/Deteis can podjump to a system one jump out of Jita. |

The options where you can set your medical clone (excluding your currently docked station) are:
A. Stations that are related to bloodline / race (could be just race though). This is at least true for race as the list of stations for my Amarr character is different from this one (Caldari). B. Stations your player corporation (not sure if NPC FW corp too) has office at. Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? Just join my channel: Crazy Dutch Guy |

You can install a medical clone in any of the following:
1) Your current station (if it has a medical facility). 2) Any of your corporation offices. 3) About a dozen NPC stations decided by your bloodline.
You can quickly move to wherever your medical clone is installed by undocking in a pod and selfdestructing (or getting someone to kill your pod, which is faster and yields your helper a killmail). So if you want to move to a battlefield quickly, and you happen to have a corporation office nearby, you can set your medical clone there and kill your pod. You will respawn in the clone station. This process is called "podjumping" (or deathcloning).
By renting corporation offices in strategic locations you can use this tactic to quickly move from one edge of the universe to another without having to wait the 20-24 hour jump clone timer. But renting offices costs money, and in highsec and especially close to trade hubs a LOT of money. This is where option 3 from the above comes into play: you can always install a medical clone in (and therefore podjump to) a couple of NPC stations in your race's highsec territory.
There are a few ways to use this to your advantage: from simply being able to go Jita shopping in a moment, to getting skillbooks injected without having to run the null/high chokepoints, to quickly bouncing a trade alt between Jita and your home system. |

All my characters have their med clones in the same station, which at the time they were moved there had no connection with any of them. I must have just got lucky and did the move while docked there, I guess.
But I'm a bit mystified about the NPC corp situation. My main is in Aliastra which has offices and medical facilities all over New Eden, but only one of those stations is listed as an option for moving his clone. Same goes for my trader who is in Native Freshfood.
[Edit] Doesn't that podjumping lark get a tad expensive? I'm assuming a new clone has to be bought each time. |

The offices part only counts for player corps. For NPC corp people it's just the list that is linked to the bloodline. Dont ask me how CCP picked that list because we all know how to our eyes their random picking of things is.
And yes, you have to update your clone on podjumping. But there the big equation comes into the picture.
Would you rather pay some ISK and have fun because you podjumped. Or safe the ISK and do something you have less fun in.
The latter is worse then the first IMO.

Actually, to be more specific, it's any of your starting NPC corporation offices (your "school" corp). Of course, your starting NPC corporation is affected by your bloodline, as is what NPC corp you land in when you drop from a player corp.
For example, one of my alts started out in Republic Military School NPC corp. Eventually I moved that alt to a player corp. When I dropped that alt out that player corp, it ended up in Brutor Tribe NPC corp. That alt can use Republic Military stations for pod jumping even when it was still in a player corp.
Hopefully that makes some sense...
GG
EDIT: Podjumping gets expensive the more skillpoints you have :) What you do for yourself dies with you, what you do for others is immortal.
