If you are looking for solo or small scale PVP fights with cheap ships (frigates, destroyers) then Faction Warefare space is perfect for you. You just need to take care of the following things:
- Don't enter low-sec via the "usual" pirate camped systems... e.g. Amamake.
- If you are in enemy space where there are 20 war targets in your system... then don't expect that if you engage any war target this will be a solo fight. His friends will come sooner or later. So either you are DPS gank fit and kill him fast or you simply don't engage him at all.
- You will have best chances for solo fights in back-end systems, but be careful and avoid enemy roaming fleets.

Molden heath is FW pretty much. Real lowsec is full of hotdrops and battleship gangs and stuff like that, not an interesting place for solo. What youre looking for is 00sec, thats fun.
I live in nullsec, the pvp there is terrible. 99% of potential targets are either cloaky, nullified or both, and no-one wants to fight. what I wanted was a place to install a clean clone for solo low-sec frigate roams. Lately I have been re-reading the following blog. Flight of DragonsReading this first inspired me to start playing Eve over a year ago. Is this sort of gameplay dead these days, or is solo low-sec roaming in frigates or cruisers still viable.
Gatecamping in places like Uaedama, Niarja, and Jita are the places for fights. Given that the nullies don't like to fight, FW is supposed to be dead, and low in general is pretty much stale non-sense, the only thing left is high sec and wardec'ing one-man indy corps.

Try to find dead ends, low jumps per hour systems, there you can find your lone souls to fight hiding/mining in belts. Oh and i recommend cloaky hunter ship.
Rare?
You can get 5+ fights an hour on a decent day in lowsec. Your mileage may vary but all in all its not hard to get.
Also dead ends.. low jumps per hour, cloaky hunter? You seem to be looking for bears in low sec.. While that IS possible really, if you want to do bear hunting you should go 0.0
low sec is mostly about pvp vs other pvpers. BYDI recruitment closed-ish |

but to add
low sec is mostly about pvp vs. other pvpers and vs. cloaky and stabbed FW farmers |

Like a lot of the other posters have said, it's fairly easy to find 1v1's and fights in general around the FW areas. I usually roam between the different FW areas to get a change of scenery and to find targets outside FW space. It's not a target rich enviroment like FW, but it does have some odd surprises that you rarely find in FW areas, like PVE fit Battleships ratting in a belts. The added bonus is that it's more common that you're alone with your target in those types of areas.
So my suggestion is to not get too attached to one area of lowsec. Travel wide and shoot all the things |

I like this reply.
What ships do you tend to roam in? Personally I favour assault frigs, although perhaps T1 cruisers and frigs are better? Don't Panic.

Resident of Metro lowsec here... I have no trouble getting some pew pew going in this region. There's a shortcut through The Forge I regularly use to get into an FW space 5 jumps out to look for fights. Outside of these areas there are enough people doing lowsec PVE or solo/small gang PVP stuff. |

I just had a 1v1 in null sec, in some jump bridge transit system.
I was in ishtar, and the other guy was in Omen, scythe navy, osprey navy, crow, stabber navy, and something else.
So i mess around with that guy, we are having a good 1v1, then I feint a retreat, abandon my drones, warp to gate like im running, other dude follows, we all jump.
then my ishtar, ishtar, loki, vaga, talos, keres catch and kill the guy.
man, that was a good 1v1....
but seriously, lots of small-scale action in wormholes. e-honor matters here more then in null-sec, so if you roll into a big known c5 or c6 corp and ask for a duel, you will get one fair and square more often then not, with spectators and everything. |

Molden Heath is getting better and better with the new orbital changes, meaning that corps actually NEED orbital support now(If the pilot can connect with 3 mins before the battle starts then we get an insta OB straight from the start). Its promoting us to grab some cheap frigs and dessies and go kill DUST bunnies. Whilst we are out dropping bombs, we are also looking for some like minded individuls to have skirmishes with, at the planets district or just in the systems itself.
So grab some frigs and a couple of mates and have a roam around! Or contact me and help me kill some more DUST bunnies >:)

It doesn't matter where you roam, you can't seriously expect locals to indulge you and continue feeding you "fair fights" you can actually win. Personally, I've been getting a lot of great solo fights lately but that's because I'm part of an active low-sec corp like most of the targets willing to likewise engage. There's a thrill in a fight where both sides expect each other to have backup en route so we heat all the things and hope to pull out a win before anything new lands on grid. I don't think that sensation is very accessible to people who pigeonhole themselves into ELITE SOLO PVP, because you are stuck assessing situations in the context of your own capabilities which, ultimately, are nowhere near the capabilities of a decent small gang no matter how elite you are. So as a consequence, you're liable to spend most of your time either pulling off shallow victories over gangs of noobs or getting "blobbed" by a capable gang that just wants to blap your garbage T1 frig as efficiently as possible so they can continue their quest for a proper fight.
In conclusion, you might not always get the fights you desire, but you definitely get the fights you deserve. My terribad blog where I QQ and rage about Amarr FW |

Then again it's not just fighting in a 1v1 that's the only fun you'll have. Sometimes just trying to avoid being caught can be a lot of fun too! Fun is what you make it.
