Well, I've now had a few days to play with my Khanid. This character will fund himself through PvP and PvP only. No mining, no NPCing, no trading.
Anyways, I started with stealing ore. Filling the cargo hold of my executioner pays a little, but not much. However, I found that there are enough people with haulers willing to buy ore at cut rate prices. I like to sell the ore at 30% to 50% of in system value. My view on it is that people won't risk a messing up a good thing when its an easy 100% to 200% profit for them.
The BEST payoff is when miners try to steal their ore back. Then it just becomes a matter of warp disrupting them and fighting them. Their mining lasers vs my medium pulse lasers. So far I've made 2 mil on selling ore, and 10 mil from those expensive mining turrets off barges.
I've also figured some stuff out about what not to do.
1) Insure your ships. Your *really* going to lose them, especially since your not going to be fighting brainless NPCs.
2) Don't fly more ship than you need for the task at hand. I trained frig 3 and hopped into a punisher and promptly lost it doing stuff that a 30k executioner could handle. I don't have a carebear mining laser mounted on my stomach to let me replace my losses, so minimization is the key.
3) The Scanner is your friend. It lets you find people quickly, figure out what they are flying, are helps you avoid bumping into stuff you wish to avoid.
4) Freaking sentry guns in low sec space are cloaked. Rule #1 and rule #2 pay off here.
5) Pay attention. The last thing you need is to stop paying attention to whats going on and only discover that a pack of barges has a Blackbird fitted with scramblers, webbers, NOSes and missiles in the middle of it.
Anyways. So far I'm happy.

7) Make your name begin with a letter lower down the alphabet, not like Arestes. Picking your name from S-Z is pretty important.

I assume this is to do with being low down in local, right? Is it really that important (well anyways if I ever decide to become a pie rat I'm good :P).

That's actually helped me considerably over the last year, as people know I'll keep my word and release them after they pay.

I hate having a high up name :( Never thought I'd start with the killing and burning though. -------------------------------------
