ive been plagued by the memory hole issue now for over a month, i cant stay in client longer than 5 mins.
So 2 chars x 1 month = 62 days at 4x speed training.
yeah, thats gonna happen.

Come one live with it... If your car is broken it has to go to the garage for a fix.. You cant demand your day work back or whatever at the garage.
Let CCP do their job (which i think they are good at) and let them fix the problems. Having the best gaming cluster in the world is an honor to play on for me.. I'm part of the best gaming community in the world!
Gonna grab a coffee now ;)

I only wanted to discuss this in the open, as devs actually gave us a hint on a global compensation in the news message from yesterday.
Its good that they found the issues though, and I'm looking forward to the patch today..

can some one point me to this global comp post?
Personall i would love to get bs lvl5 out the way, at 47 days its a killer. Doing it less ould make me very happy.
To all thouse who mone that its only a coupole of days traniing time time /play time, that may be true for younger players but thouse who have been here longer have lost more i recon i am up to just under a week now, of lost play time.
And i am sure the 3 year old chars have lost even more. ----------------------------------------------

I'm still on a trial account, 7 days in. I didn't loose a moment of training time due to server issues, I just kept setting my training to a 1d+ skill whenever I logged out. Just by bothering to read the news whil;e in game warping around you can know when to set a long skill going.
3x training speed would not benefit all chars evenly, because those with quick training ones would lose some of that time offline, where 40 day skills would reap full benefits.
However, I think thats irrelevent, because I don't see any compensation to be neccicary- the bloodline patch was smoother than any other mmorg expansion I've seen rolled out,and free to boot. I was on tonight, and it seems like the most of the problems have been fixed now.

mmmm given 1 mil a month skill poitns on average id say 60,000 Skillpoint boosts given to players would be an ideal solution if CCP decided to go that route i dont think they should again the whiners have been listened to. Thats wrong the game has bugs they ahve been worked out. Perhaps instead of that adding a complete set of t2 BPOs into the lottery to be distribtued to all players on a random basis those using research agents could be an idea. CCP requested feature please - quite simple really.
For CEOs days since last login details on all members in their Corp. this will help manage inactives and those that dont log in can be removed - |

Thanks, so even thought it talks of global, there is no actual talk of reembersment, just talk of the sytem that would be used if it where to ever happen. ----------------------------------------------

Just so you know, if they hadn't done those downtimes in the first place you probably wouldn't be able to play the gamer right now, or at least not have an enjoyable experience.
So technically they are paying you back for the lost time since if they had left things the way they were, you would get even less playing time.
Lighten up people, just a game.

I am not complaining that they do them, but i am sick of people who's argument against all the people asking for compenstion is that it's only an few hours here or there.
A few hours here or there every month add up, Its fine to say "hay you only lost 8 hours" but bare in mind that sentance is missing "this time" off the end.
Perosonally I dont care about the who componsation thing, i just hate peopel using it as stock answer and then claiming to be hollyer than thou, when using it. ----------------------------------------------

Edited by: SinBin on 06/03/2006 14:01:04 I agree training for me was never effected, but I spend all week prepping for a full weekends gameing.
I live in 0.0 & had 3 empire wars running, I didnt move all weekend, wile I was online I sat in dock watching system around me close & getting CTD eerytime I was thinking of undocking or server reboot.
So realy I lost a week of prepping & the weekends gaming.
Now gunno restart that prosses ready for next weekend, my world had collapsed eve wise witch being as that all I would have done all weekend thats my whole world collapsed.
So I do want at min 3 days back but the guys idea about 300% training speed is also very nice & even better it fair for every level/age of player.
Weekends I play 12am till around 5am & thats alot of lost time, you maybe log in for 1 hour mine some roids & log off & agree your world wasnt effecect. maybe ccp should check our regular weekend time online & give me more than you :).
Edit: just add 1 guy even got up at 7am for a pre planed op, ccp should stick to that tuesday patching & we would have been up by saturday & everyone happy. _______________________________________

ABSOLUTELY NOT. There is NO reason you shouldn't be able to train skills during this period of server issues. NONE. Therefore, there's nothing to compensate.
Oh, ok, what about... not being able to connect to the server?
Not everyone has access to EVE 24/7, what if during the time when they had planned to start a new skill the server is down and they can't log on again for a few days?
Now I'm not saying 300% training speed would be appropriate, just saying that "there is no reason to be unable to train skills" is balls.

plz dont lock this thread, as I'm not whining of the downtime as we all know devs are working on the issues. just want to discuss dev/support hints which just came out.
NO NO NO. Ive seen this thing happen in another MMORPG, they had new version issues (far greater and more disruptive than here) so the Devs handed out apology gifts. 2 months later more new players came on the scene and whined that they didnt get the new pretties, so they got some pretties, that upset the players who had to suffer the issues so everyone got some pretties. Next thing came a new version upgrade that had a few small hiccups and everyone was jumping up and down demanding more pretties. The saddest thing about the whole situation is that 50% of the gifted pretties just sit in peoples houses wasting server space. I dont want compensation. Ill just be glad when they get the issues resolved, until then Ill just play in generally safe areas and keep my skills ticking over.

I agree they do have to be carfull but in this day and age, you have to compensate people for poor performance, but in no way do we want it to get out of hand.
There is only one way to handly this, a dev post some sort of apploligy for THIS event. Saying what went wrong and why, then details of any compensation and why they feel its apripriate, and how that just becuse they felt this time was bad does not mean we should expect any thing next time.
Then its up to the forum mods to set up one thred for compensation discussion, and mercislsley lock every other thred started about it. Delete them even, as if they never exsisted.
CCP need to play hard ball on this one. ----------------------------------------------

interesting when ccp has troubles all the vultures come out, trying to exploit weakness, and each trying to exploit the situation.
just goes to show that the bulk of you guys are pitiful in real life as well in game.
whatever CCP decides will be good to me, if anything.
but please continue, makes for some excellent reading on the sad state of the human factor in gaming.

Then let me be the first to ask: "May I have your stuff when you quit?"
Because unless I've been mistaken for the last four months, outages are pretty much only restricted to major patches. I'd understand if this happend on a weekly basis. But it doesn't. As far a buggy patches go, CCP is on par with just about everyone else out there. However, the need to feel like you're being cheated out something is absurd. CCP has NOTHING to gain by having the servers down. Stop with these ridiculous notions that this must be some secret CCP conspiracy to rob you out of your hard-earned fifty cents.
But then again, if I were in charge, I would'nt hesitate to throw a few well-timed disconnects to the big-mouthed, whining floatsam that has come from SWG, WOW and the other filth that have been spamming the forum with last few days with "I R 0UTr4GED LOLZ" (TM).
So I'll put you down for the "I'll still pay even if the servers are down for a whole month" camp.
The only place in my post where I mentioned I would drop my subscription was in the hypothetical situation where the servers went down for a whole month without any compensation to the customers.
I was just trying to point out that we all want to get what we've paid for, regardless of whether we're "whining" about current circumstances. Everyone has their limit as to how much of a service outage they'll put up with. As I said previously, most of us will put up with a day of no service once in a while. But for each day there are major problems, more people will want to be compensated. If it went on for a month, most of us would want compensation.

I'll throw in with the "I don't need compensation" crowd. EVE is a great game and the Devs are doing a great job. If you really want to compensate me, then stop worrying about the compensation and keep it up with the game development!
If you really insist on some compensation... hows about 20K more snowballs and a couple more launchers I can't think of anything else to do with my breacher at the moment.

Compensation that would make me happy is plain and simple. Make all them asteroids respawn. I mean no one can resists a nice juicy fat 'roid just waiting to be ravaged.
If that won't happen then so be it.

Suffer? This is a game genious, if it's down for a day and has problems a few days after a FREE patch I don't give a flying ****! I read books, take longer walks with my dog, watch telly, meet friends, go to the cinema...you know, do stuff that real people do? I suggest that people who suffer over a few days of laggy/unstable EVE visit a shrink and stop play the game. You types...geeze.

Anyone daft enough to not set a long skill training or switch at the first opportunity doesn't deserve compensating.

One has to question whether or not you actually are acting on the principle of the matter or that you actually want free stuff (TM).
I never even stated I lost anything. I've repeatedly stated that the loss of one day of gaming for technical reasons every once in a while is a reasonable expectation. I enjoy a good argument, but please don't take me to task for something I haven't said.
Free stuff? I haven't asked for anything, but I do hold to the principle of when I pay for something, I should receive it. I also appreciate doing business with companies that make good on their errors.
CCP's own message prompted speculation about possible compensation. What's wrong with people making their case for compensation as long as they aren't belligerent about it?
I appreciate the fact that CCP burned the midnight oil to repair the damage over the weekend. If I were to ask for anything, it would be that they patch early in the week so they can avoid major problems during the peak weekend play hours.
