Sigh I thought my git pull was successful, but it looks like I was still running 0.9.52. Dang Continuum hack to process.c stopped it from updating. :)

.9.56 is out and initial testing shows some improvements with shadows "on", but still some strange fps drps when panning around in space. Docked with shadows "on" appears to be yielding normal fps, but in space, especially around large objects (stations/gates) depending on camera panning, the fps will still drop to 2-5fps and will stutter badly. This is much improved over .9.54 and somewhat improved over .9.55 but is still unplayable.
With shadows "off" the client is responsive and plays fairly well, with fps averaging 32-45 under normal loads.

Trying to install the windows premium client with wine 0.9.55 yields this error message
Quote: fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
anyone knows that? also the installer is poping a window telling me "These installer recquires admin access, try again!" after verifying the installer file itself. Googling doen't yield an significant help on this error msg. Any suggestions for me?

On my Ubuntu 64 bit machine with NVIDIA 7900 card, wine classic client via wine 9.55 runs flawlessly. Premium content still suffers from not rendering stations and stargates. Definitely a major step forward with the classic client.

Vote for the bugs. :)
I've the same problem (7600GS 256, wine 0.9.56, slack 12), but I can run 1600x1200 in standard mode, so it's not fatal for me, though I'm tempted to upgrade the vid card as a workaround.

Premium client with classic graphics crashes on startup as of current wine git.
Unfortunately, git returns me following on bisect start:
Quote: darkphoenix@Fire:~/src/wine$ git bisect start fatal: ref HEAD is not a symbolic ref Bad HEAD - I need a symbolic ref
Any ideas?
After googling a bit i've found patch for git sources which helped me to get rid of "Bad HEAD - I need a symbolic ref" message (no, not just suppression :) ), but 1st fatal is still preventing me from using bisect. ------- EVE Online + GNU/Linux (ru_RU version) |

Thanks for having a look at it :) Thing is: my Hardware actualy is 64Bit, but I'm running the 2.6.22-3 686 32Bit Kernel on it. The first line regularly appears for 32Bit systems also. If you want to check my post just some above this one, I in deed had installation problems, but only during the first trial. The second one went smooth, what doesn't actualy mean, there wasn't any problems. Perhaps I should just remove EVE and try to reinstall it. Or Maybe I just go with a fresh wine installation. This would rather be my last option, cause I have other programms running with wine, w/o problems. So I think it's mostly about the EVE installation. Anyway tho, more ideas about that errors would be nice :)

Edited by: Ayvryl on 13/03/2008 17:56:50 Edited by: Ayvryl on 13/03/2008 12:17:43 I am using Arch32 currently and have issues with the Minmatar Stargates. Every time I get within 1500m of a gate, my client completely freezes for 20 to 25 seconds then becomes available for about 3 to 5 seconds before freezing up again.
Has anyone else had an issue with Arch Linux and Eve? I have tried it with Ubuntu 7.10, but feel like ubuntu runs extremely slow on my computer after a few days.
Anyway, I am using Wine .9.4.56-1 with the premium install (premium content disabled).
I have searched the forums, tried several things and to no avail. Docked is great, space is great, gates really suck!
Help me out please?!

note: I have a nvidia 7600 vga card also, with that stations and stargates are NOT visible. With 8600 they ARE.

I am not sure all the problems with premium content as I run classic as well but it is totaly playable with fps's in the higher 40's all the way down to 2 to 3 second lock ups that coincide perfectly with laggy nights on EvE.

Post patch + .9.57 wine I'm seeing a lot of excessive memory usage. (1.3 gig +). After 20-30 minutes the client begins to hitch and fps drops to a crawl (guessing thrashing issues due to memory).
Up until this happens its been a LOT more stable since the boost patch.
I'm also seeing windowing issues with compiz fusion still, but switching to metacity its working fine in full screen. --unchecking via winecfg the window manager will let it "fullscreen" properly under compiz, but if anything craps out with the client, it hangs the desktop and forces me to restart the gdm completely.

I had this too, Mooriko. You need to go to the graphics settings tab in Eve and change your cache settings (or something similar, I'm at work right now) to high, which should fix it immediately.

OK everything is running with .58 but there are some problems.
Primarily the fonts are knackered (bright white with no anti aliasing) when running in Premium Graphics (haven't tested in classic yet will report back once I do).
The icons seem to be knackered as well. See the following screen shot:

Don't worry about the missing parts thats just screenshot being funky. But you can see what I mean about the fonts and icons (and windows). Note the modules graphics in the middle? This looks like an alpha transparency issue to me what does everyone else think?
