Nah. If the Rapid Light Missile Launchers (and the heavies version) is any clue as to how they operate, expect this new module to be changed beyond use for most players after a patch or two. They'll probably make it work for only 30 seconds and then require a 3 hour cooldown. |

I honestly hope this isn't true. This is a terrible idea, and anyone who likes it needs to HTFU and pay attention to their surroundings. That moment when you realize the crazy lady with all the cats was right... |

I would presume its part of a package that includes changes to local. It appears to be a tool to make finding the rabbit harder, which will probably be balanced against making it harder for the rabbit to see the fox.

D-Scan is an even more overpowered intel tool than local when you think about it.
And it encourages manic clicking every second to keep it up to date.
Good riddance, lets kill local next. Things are only impossible until they are not.

Good riddance, lets kill local next. You'll still have to D-scan every second, twice every second if they remove local. Oh god. |

Delayed local is still just as stupid as the other billion times you people have suggested it. A module to fool dscan is not sufficient to counterbalance that. Latest video - Pandemic Legion titan and supers killed |

I rather like being compared to a fox. It suits me. And not just because my Army MOS was 13F (pronounced Thirteen-Fox for the non-savvy among us), neither... although that is a factor.

Here's the way I see it. Setting something up to make Dscanning a bit harder is only a small advantage for the person who wants to stay off Dscan. This only matters if they're afk or otherwise sitting static at a belt, celestial, station or gate of some variety, really, because if they're in a deadspace pocket, you're going to have to probe them anyway, and if they're bouncing from one celestial to another, neither probing nor dscanning will work, you'll have to guess where they're going to land next and beat them to it if you wanna catch them. At the most, all this does is provide a limited negation of having to set up deep safes, which you wouldn't be able to dscan either, anyway.
If you think about it, the tracking camera gave Dscan a lot more power. I don't consider it OP, but I do think this new structure will give it some more balance. So here's to new mobile structures to blow up.
Also, this thread is still based entirely on rumour. Regardless of how reliable the source is....

Also to answer OP's question, it's not a troll. Sarmatiko is very reliable about this sort of thing. He gets his information from data dumps of one of the non-public test servers (I believe the one he uses is Chaos). Latest video - Pandemic Legion titan and supers killed |

the immediate up in arms won't be about blocking d-scan its about identifying for CCP that...
(a) nobody wants to press d-scan a thousand times for no enemy reported. its a horrible way of telling the game that you are paying attention, and I would stop playing if that becomes required. I was on the d-scan for an hour on friday (due to my escalation resetting over DT), clearing an escalation, and I'm fine with doing that as it was a hostile system with a hostile present. I don't want to do it all day if there is nobody in system.
(b) nobody wants to be tackled whilst paying full attention. Evasion, even from a cloaked tackler has to remain a viable strategy, presuming one is careful about setup, avoids being held down by NPCs, and makes use of all available intel.
(c) there isn't a lot of point to alliance intel (in fact by and large the way my alliance coooperates cross corp), if we can't detect and report hostiles. Having to put alts on gates to do that sucks. That would require 60 alts to give us equivalent coverage, and making "2 accounts required" tasks has always been bad for EVEs reputation. |
