Apparently today eve has decided that I do not have any sound drivers... yesterday was fine(actualy.. less than 5 hrs ago, lol) but after downtime.. I no longer have any sound card/driver.
Anyone got a fix?

Hit Esc key, choose audio tab, make sure that "Audio Enabled" is checked.
Also, sound may be toggled on/off by hitting ctrl-alt-shift-F12.

If you are playing more than one account at any point, and you disabled audio on one, it will dissable for both if you are running them from the same install because it will take it from the prefs files. ------

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

eve cant wipe your drivers, only conflict with them.
therefore, the suspect is your OS.

This sometimes happened to me when I had a USB headset, the act of connecting and disconnecting it would sometimes have Windows getting confused about what was my primary device to use, and EVE would do essentially what you describe.
Not sure if it's relevant to your situation, but if it is then maybe it's worth considering.

fixed it.. apparently it WAS the OS.. but eve popped up with a msg saying (before I even logged in) 'you do not have any sound drivers/sound card installed..etc"
the OS (Win XP pro, what a glorious program) disabled it when I shut down CoV. (tried the otehr stuff... eve just simply did not know I had any sound drivers installed because windows had locked them up)
