Yesterday, before I knew you had included the ship's actual length in the previewer, I compared my Skiff to an ice asteroid that had a radius of 2183 meters. By doubling this to get diameter, I lined my ship up just right and close enough to get a good accurate view, I divided this by the amount of times I could fit my ship in that line and came up with my ship being 363.83 meters long, 185.55 meters wide, 55.67 meters thick. I today discovered that there was some stat that tells you the length so I need to do some re-calculations as it says the length is 274 meters.
Before I do though, I'd like to know if there is already a size comparison chart anywhere. If CCP has released a size chart or even has misc stats like this anywhere already for this, it'd save me a lot of time and hassle.
Ah well. Going based on 274, lets see what I get. It looks like I came out with the following values. The skiff is 274 meters long, 129.79 meters wide, 64.89 meters thick. The door is 11.54 meters tall & 14.42 meters wide. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/30270697/images/skiffstats.png
Is that even the door? xD I assumed it was, but the door could potentially be on the front of the ship so... Can someone verify if these values are correct? Best if someone who works with the game (CCP / Devs) could help answer this so I know how accurate the values really are, since the devs are the ones who would really know.
I was trying to find out though for an art project I was planning, and needed to know all the stats of the ship really. |

Well it's good someone made an image by image of each ship but if CCP devs have already included lengths into their previewers of each ship, that means they must have a method for determining the size of each of their ships. I had hoped they had an official source for this that I could use really.
Do my values look accurate for the skiff by the way? |

Do my values look accurate for the skiff by the way? The number seen in the preview screen (as far as anyone has been able to determine) actually measures the size of the collision sphere rather than the sis of the ship. The measurements you see in the ship comparison graphs scattered around the web are based on people extracting the ship models from the client data and counting the 3D units.
So for actual physical size, the fan-made charts are a better source. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Hmm. Well if CCP admits that the size is the collision sphere, then that would help a bit. There is an issue with that idea though. The Orca for example, is a big long flat ship. You can have someone part almost directly below it, within arm's length distance as I had at one point. So if it is collision sphere, it's an oval sphere. |

"And then change them each now and then" (like The Incredible Shrinking Machariel).
Anyway, if you think that in space proportions are messed, don't try to look at the ships from the Captain's Quarters. They are literally "the size that looks cool", as anything realistic would look incredibly weird.
Taking for an instance a large ship like the Apocalypse, when it was facing the player it would be about 700 meters closer than if it was totally transversal to him. So it would spin from "so large that totally blocks your view" to "now it's 7 blocks away". The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

Eve, objects are not the size they appear to be.
Beware of space pebbles they are large asteroids in disguise. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you. |

EVE space is a fluid and, as we all know, fluids bend light thus distorting the apparent size (and location) of objects. Meaning, no one really knows what size EVE ships are until CCP lays down some physics equations.
Plus, there's the fluid in our pods to deal with as well, for double whammy of visual impairment.

Realy would be cool if CCP redesign whole scale and size of ships and structures in EvE, in most cases here lack of feeling that ships are big - or small compared to other, in other case frigates in capitan quaters looks so big like freighters, its hurt eyes and looks stupid. If it bleed we can kill it. |

It would be nice my Phoenix looked like it could actually fit inside a Gallente Outpost. This is one of those things where it just wont happen because it would be seen as wasted time. I remember my freighter (providence) and my Ceo Chimera near Caldari control Tower both looks bigger than tower strucure, a bit sad and funny... If it bleed we can kill it. |

It's not a collision sphere, more like a sphere of space that is at 0 meters if I recall.
You can't "bump" into the space above the orca, and smartbombs are measured from the edge of the orca. But you can be above the flat part near the middle and be at 0m on the orca... I should check this
But with stations, you can find large parts of empty space that are at 0 to the station. You will not bump the station, but you can in fact dock. There are no goons. The goons; 0.0 dream is over.
Progodlegend said the goal of N3 is to destroy Goonswarm Federation, but in reality NCdot is in Fountain due to the fact it is virtually the last place there is action. ~NC., Fountain 2013 |
