This is how it works now:
Mining foreman 5 = +10% yield to lasers (and drones) Mining director 5 (with active laser optimation link) = -10% duration bonus to cycle time Squadron command 5 (will be renamed in Kali) 50% increase in effect of mining link modules Mining Foreman Mindlink Implant = 50% increse in effect of mining link modules
Total effect 10% yield and 22,5% decrese in cycle times
A maxed out covetor pilot with tech II strips and tech II crystals (no mining implants) will mine 3565,898 m3 of ore each cycle solo with 20 cycles per hour. In an ideal belt with no wasted cycle time that would give him 71317,97 m3 per hour.
The same covetor pilot would mine 3922,488 per cycle with 25,80645 cycles per hour in a gang with a maxed out director. Not counting for any wasted cycle time that would come to 101225,5 m3 per hour. THAT IS A 41,9355% INCREASE IN HOURLY YIELD.
If the mindlink implant worked as the description indicates there would instead be a massive increase in the yield per cycle bringing the covetor pilot to 4715,901 m3 per cycle, but because cycle time would be unaffected: only 20 cycles per hour. Total amount would therefore be 94318,01 m3 per hour or 'only' 32,35% increse to hourly yield.
Further the current way it works reduces wasted cycle time per hour. That is more cycles with less amount per cycle (and therefore less potential waste per cycle).
Of course drones only receive 10% yield increase instead of the 15% they would otherwise, and there is no 15% personal yield increase.
But overall extra 6900 m3 max hourly yield per maxed out covetor is definately more useful than extra 5% on the drones and an extra 15% on the Mining Director, who is already in enough trouble fitting cargo expanders to keep his cargobay from overflowing.
I for one think the cycle bonus is MUCH BETTER than more yield per cycle!
A maxed out hulk (with both the Highwall 2 and the Michi implant) would go from 94943,38 max yield per hour solo to 134758,4 max yield per hour in a gang with a maxed out mining director!!!
P.S. Of course it would be awsome if the mindlink affected the foreman bonus and gave 15% yield bonus in addition to the 22,5% cycle reduction. THAT WOULD TRANSLATE INTO 48,3871% BONUS TO MAX HOURLY YIELD. But that is really too much to ask for.

The cycle decrease is there as the link didn't function at all with the yield increase because of the gang no stacking rule. Thats not going to change simply because that rule would need to be removed and that would just break gameplay.
So apart from telling us what we already know..

I was merely noting that the way it works is better than the way it was supposed to work. Because there has been much whining about that it only works partially. I¦m sure many thinking miners had figured this out already.

This has nothing to do with the links, this bonus is calculated apart from the link as it works even without a link being active (and yes the guide covers it.

That part is correct for the decrease in mining cycle time, but the boost to yield cannot be calculated in the effect of the link as it has nothing to do with it (see above).

Incorrect. Math is in this thread. A 22.5% bonus to cycle time translates into a 29,5% bonus to yield. The 10% from mining foreman must be calculated separately as described above.
The rest of your post doesn't make any sense. The only thing not working about the mindlink is the 15% self-bonus. The 50% effect works as intended.
Originally by: Artmedis Valben
... but because cycle time would be unaffected: only 20 cycles per hour.
You mean if you could get the selfbonus without being ganged with a BC pilot running a link?
The rest of your post is basically copy/paste from the guide, worded differently and honestly, not well formatted. Everything you wrote was covered in the guide except the bonus which translates into 29,5% to yield (but explained a little above).
I suggest next time you post make sure you won't mix up the other readers, and read a few pages before to make sure it wasn't covered :)

Bloody brilliant guide, I wish I'd found it a few months ago when I started down the mining route Just to chuck in my 2c - you can mine 0.0 in a non-Exhumer - Fit a named hardner in the mid, with a warp stab and a pdu in the lows. When mining, keep aligned to your POS and the *second* a rat jumps in, hit max velocity, shut down the miners, bring the hardner online, grab whatever ore you can from the can you're dumping into and hit warp. That should take all of a second. When you're safely in warp, let your corpmates know that they have to stop having fun with their spawns and clear your belt. Needless to say, if you have a roid between you and the POS, you're toast so choose your can spot very carefully.

Edited by: Halada on 26/11/2006 20:13:09 Im currently finishing writing the version 2.0 of my guide, which will be released soon after Revelations hits (probably 1-2 days while I test everything for accuracy) in a PDF file. It'll be about 40 pages long with screenshots, tables and comparative charts.
I'm at the polishing stage right now, it'll be available next week. Yes I did know about the mindlink ;)

50% or the 15% override bonus as stated on the properties?
I mean what I am getting at is. A 15% Foreman bonus rather than 10%? --------------

At the moment my BC piolt is not granting any reduction in cycle time when he forms the gang, and activaes the gang assist mod. He has leadership 5, foreman 5, director 5, and Warfare link specialist 5. Perhaps he'll be able to give a bonus once I get him to a school and buy wing command, but from the devblog I belive he should be able to give his bonus to the gang he forms, with just leadership.
Are only passive skills working for gang bonuses right now, or are others having better luck with the mods?

You have to form a fleet to get gang bonuses, on the gang triangle |> you "convert to fleet". You have to have the person w/ the bonuses even to, or higher in the gang hierarchy to give bonuses.
Everything that was previously working is still working it seems. Mining foreman's 10% bonus and the +50% from the Mining Foreman Mindlink implant are working, netting another 5% yield to the gang. The Mining Amount Bonus 15% from the Mining Foreman Mindlink implant which I think some people hoped would be a 15% to the person wearing the implant isn't working. (I can swear a dev said it would be in a thread in general)
Does anyone know if Mining Foreman Link - Drone Coordination and Drone Mining Augmentor I are working?

More cheers from the gallery!!
Was talking in corp chat and referred a new member here. Decided to check if the Revelations stuff had been added and found the PDF was now available.
Looks great and the info is even better because of the charts and sheets!
I would give you a high five, but that does not begin to come close to the value of this guide, for old and new alike. Read it when it came out, reread it again, it seems, once a month for reinforcement.
