CCP are a great bunch of people. They designed this great game, EVE-online. And i've been playing it ever since april 2004. But since the Blood patch things have become very boring and frustrating.
I've survived long patch weeks and months. Like Exodus and RMR. But Blood has been the worst of them all, by far.
I remember Exodus. The week after was very laggy and all the cool new features. Wich i could actually use we're really keeping me in the game and everything worked rather smoothly. The staff of CCP had done their job very well. I had nothing to complain about there exept for an occasional lagspike but that always happens.
RMR was kind of like Exodus. Not as many new features but they changed the frigates, wich was great. Execp for the Incursus though. Nothing out of the ordinary for an occasional lagspike and mass-disconnect in wich my poor beloved Taranis was in a slighly tight spot. (logging on to a pod is not at all pleasing :/ - )
Now, Blood. I have this pirate alt. And i spend 5 minutes fitting a frigate - 1 to 6 mil on my lil' killing machine. Now lets undock and see what's there. Hmmm... 1 bs outside station, i can warp out easily. But as i try to warp, nothing happens, nothing at all. I see that the BS would probably be locking me anytime soon so i should dock. Ok cool i get the big "DOCKING" letters there i should be ok. Yeah, i'm fine, i'm docking i should be ok, there's a wave of T2 Precision cruise missiles headed my way but i'm totally fine, i'm docking, yea. The missiles just killed my ship, i'm fine, i'm docking. Then *bleeep* "connection to server lost". Then i log back on and i've been podkilled by a raven. Now that's just sad. I've had many incidents of this type. i've also lost a few ships because the would not warp out when i told them to. So enough of the bugs and whining. Here is my point.
I think that CCP need to focus much more on just fixing the bugs in the game for once. They're always making great new features and applying new patches. But if they don't focus enough on fixing bugs. Instead they add more to the game when they had not completely finished with the last patch. Now with Blood, basically everything was bugged. CCP, please focus on bugs more then new stuff for at least now.

Let's ignore the new server and the whole transfer and the fact that doing any change to ANY server, by default messes alot up, shall we?
Let's all imagine they aren't trying to settle in a new serverpark

How about you put your fanboy glasses away for a second and look at the post? The OP does have some valid points. CCP has fallen off the ball in the last few months. IMHO, their thinking does make sense. Instead of doing constant reboots, how about you bring the cluster down and fix the problem. I guess they don't know that they only make the player base even more upset but rebooting every hour or so.
I must admit, that I am blinded by COMMON SENSE. Sorry about that.

Tssk, we gotta make up a nicer word for whiners of your sort
Just for the fact that I have another opinion that happens to be in line with the actual fact doesn't make me a fanboi.
They fact that you think that CCP are just lazy and just rebooting and nothing else, is whining.

actually, why dont you get off your anti-fanboy stance.
theres nothing wrong with people that love the game and support it to the max.
but
there is something wrong with people that play a game and do nothing but whine how hard it is, wants nerfs for this and that, and overblow any problem into a major thing.
nothing like a bunch of people with no knowledge of what is involved to build, run, and maintain a online game as this, nor the brains doing so, whining like its their god given right.
and yes i read your whole post, but once I realized it was a "i got killed post" it sank into irrelevance, especially after saying youve been here so long in game, yet obviously took risks in the first week after patch day/ upgrade day.
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

Server was running fine just prior to blood, I say hotfix's now pushing greater than prior patchs plus we're getting a fixer patch tommorow shows that blood did come off as a rough patch and alot of people lost ships, to the mass lag and disconnects that have occurred tbh i'd be for a role back of character and world data to blood patch day after the fixer patch as gone in.

You might not have noticed. But i'm not asking, "nerf this nerf that, lower T2 prices, make mining barges have 60% res to all plz" I'm asking them to fix bugs.
I might have lost a few ships, wich is not a big deal. The main reason is that BUGS prevent fair gameplay. I haven't once whined about anything on the forums. This is not a common 'make me better' whine. I am trying to get CCP to direct their attention to the one thing that puts the game out of balance for players of my kind.
And bugs are something nobody wants. Everyone want's a bug-free game, right? That's my point exactly. So please go trolling elsewhere. ----

Excuse me, "in line with the actual fact"? Since, when did your opinions become fact? I never stated that CCP was lazy. So, don't put words in my mouth. Now get back under the table and continue blowing CCP with your praises.
That is the only reason I can see why things have been so bad as of late.

RMR was a whole lot worse then blood. And I don't care. The good stuff about EVE is more then enough to balance the bad. _____________________________________

A) The team that codes and fixes bugs is entirely seperate from the team that develops new content. Stoping the content team wouldn't speed up the bug fixing, it would just mean no new content
B) The bug that caused 99% of the major problems with Blood were due to the server memory leak. So all the crashes, lag, market, spikes, d/c's, traffic control were all due to the memory leak. Something that could not be located unless they had a large load on the servers (number quoted was about 10k players). Without that many the bug didn't present itself, so no chance to find it and fix it. Therefor no point in bringing the server down to fix that bug.
I'm not saying that CCP didn't drop the ball on this one, but everyone shouting to take the servers down or to stop new content development doesn't help the bugs get fixed

A) Developing new content comes to patches, right? patches = bugs. So fix bugs, then bring in content. That's my point
B) Ok, this i did not know, i admitt that. But it hasn't been fixed yet has it? and there are still bugs. If you explode a players ship you can often not click his container. So open and close map. After that you can't see stations, belts, moons by clicking alt button. Unless you relog ofcourse ----

Server memory leak has been fixed afaik otherwise the game would still be in an unplayable state. There are bugs still around, thats what patches like tommorows ones are for
It is a careful balance CCP has to maintain. No new content and people will get bored with the game then leave. Too much new bugged content and people get fed up and leave :) Not to mention balancing issues to do with fixes and changes with everyone from newbie players to entire alliances demanding CCP change aspect X of the game.
It's also worth remembering that this isn't a simple program. EVE is a massive deployment over server clusters. The smallest change can be magnified to huge proportions so you would need to be very careful making changes. Also as was experienced with the memory leak some problems will only appear on scale. What seems to be perfectly reasonable for 100 clients or 1000 clients may actually in fact bring the cluster down when everyone is online. I don't envy the programmers working on EVE, they have a very tough job.

Troll this, blow that.
You're just a troll with a flamer filled with grapes.
Take your attitude and go to WoW where it belongs, if you don't like how things are handled, I'll gladly show you the door. There's no need for
1) Throwing out crap about "CCP should work like this or that"
2) Opening your mouth about things you know nothing about
So until you know anything about what CCP has been doing the last month and how they did it, and why they did it, don't fill up this place with more graps than we already have.

Why do people have to be so damm hostile? Kindakrof's post is one of the better posts i've seen questioning all of this. No l33t speak, no 'zomg im gunna take my 23 accounts and all my friends and leave', no insulting. Hell, they guy even said please He wasn't aware about the memory leak, with every other player filling the forum with their own troll like complaint threads its fairly hard to keep track of whats actually happening above all the smack.
Those who instantly jump to the insults and smack when someone posts are as bad as trolls. Try and show a little respect

Almost every software contains bugs. Some of them just don't show up with the 50 people or so on the testserver, but here with 20.000 people on Tranquility. You can't test every possible situation anyway. And more people with different systems do more different things at the same time on Tranquility, no wonder that many bugs don't show up before it reaches Tranquility. And then both servers don't behave exactly the same. ( I remember that there was a hot-fix applied last year that seemed to work on the test server but caused havoc on Tranquility.)
Think we have to live with bugs after a content patch. Next 'chaos' comes with Kali.

This is whining. But i am trying to discuss with half-decent people about their opinions on how to fix all the bugs wich followed the Blood patch and exchanging information about what CCP has been doing. Apparently they have been doing more about the bugs than i knew/thought they were but there's still a long way to go.

'us in the IT field'
'us in the IT field' should be well aware of what happens when you try to fix something, even more so when you leave it to the sys admins, and even more so when you ask the admins try it on another system first, AND EVEN MORE so when you try to apply new hardware at the same time.
'us in the IT field' should be well aware of the fact that there is no chance in hell to even get a new RAM stick to work on the first attempt...
Edit: An onwards - you try to find the right bug in a flyswarm... Go ahead

Easy on your flamer or you might run outta gas. I know patches bring bugs, I'm saying that the bugs stay around for a bit too long after the patches. Also that they are patching the game over and over again without having completely fixed most known bugs. And ofc. i'm aware that some bugs only appear on tranq where there's more people.
