100% Agreed. I would like it back. Why take away something that wasn't a bad thing in the first place. |

Kuronaga wrote:The reasons given for the removal of the jukebox do not feel justified to me.
You wanted the game to play specific music in lowsec and nullsec? Fine. But you still could have kept the jukebox and simply added sub-categories to it for further customization based on region. That would have been appreciated, actually.
In reality, you basically DID do this, you just removed OUR ability to mess with it. That seems uncool to me, and pointless.
Bring it back, thanks.
What reason? That all code in the game needs to be constantly maintained. And maintaining the jukebox, which is arguably easily replaced by a third party app, takes away resources from the internet spacehips? Sounds reasonable to me. |

The same can be said about a sub-par Twitch streaming SDK which has been implemented without player demand and with the added irony that the game doesn't haves any tool that allows to watch Twitch within the game. We are talking about jukebox controls for this new music system, not about bringing back old jukebox with all the code that have to be maintained. If twitch plugin can have it i think that it wouldn't be a problem to have one for new EVE music system.
Quote:And maintaining the jukebox, which is arguably easily replaced by a third party app,
You cannot replace it with 3rd party apps. 3rd party apps lacks cool ingame feature = dynamic music..
Quote: takes away resources from the internet spaceships?
Cool space music for cool space game always was and always will be "must have" feature.

The android version costs money, but the windows version on their website is fully free. Not a pro app really, but quite good for what it does, which is probably better than what you are asking for. Not really. I doubt there is any potential income stream CCP can get from bringing the jukebox back. |

hey yeah good point... So by this reasoning, CCP should start deleting textures from some of the planets, bases and ships, lack of potential income stream. Odd, but you think some might like graphics ...and music? hah potential income streams..

No, it really can't. They simply plugged in the module provided by Twitch, designed specifically for this purpose.
Media players, on the other hand, bring a lot of baggage along by their very nature... and are COMPLETELY REDUNDANT with software that your operating system already provides. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

If they want out of game music in game a media player is built into their operating system. If they want out of game music in game a media player is built into their operating system. No, there is no music, it's been turned off for months now. External players are crud to use (as I've already stated why). Not to mention the external players fight over resources that should be managed from the game client. Just like in EQ1, the player was the best part of the client, and caused less problems compared to running another demanding app. GÇö+¬GÇö |

Just like in EQ1, the player was the best part of the client, and caused less problems compared to running another demanding app. 1: The music was never turned off in EVE unless you turned it off yourself. It simply now plays different songs depending on where you are and what you are doing.
2: External players are far, far superior to the buggy little simplistic player that was previously jammed into EVE.
3: Do you think that because the music player was accessible from in game that it magically never used any system resources? If your system is struggling to use Winamp or Windows media player (or any one of a dozen others), you have bigger issues than this.
The only reason to complain about using the media player you ALREADY HAVE is because you are too lazy to fire it up, to alt tab, or to get a keyboard that allows you to control it from there. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.
