I've read some of the carrier threads but some things still aren't clear to me:
- Is there a maximum range in AU to where I can assign Fighters to other pilots. Or can I sit in a super safe and still successfully assign Fighters to my mates?
- Can I just warp around on my own while Fighters stay with their assigned mates?
- How fast do Fighters travel in warp? Like if I'm 100au away from my mates and I assign my Fighters to him, how long will it take them to reach him?
- Can I monitor my Fighter's health when they are in distant space?
- Can the mate who's got my Fighters monitor their health?
- Can my mate send his Fighters back to me or does he just have normal drone control options?
- Can Fighters be prevented from returning to the carrier by warp scrambling them? Do bubbles effect Fighters in any way?
- If Fighters are chasing a target through warp and I recall them, do they return immediately or do they first have to finish their warp.

Edited by: Morning Maniac on 14/03/2006 19:35:35 - You can assign fighters to any gang member who has the drones skill in the same system, range is not an issue. The number of the fighters he can control is his drones skill
- Yes, you can just warp around
- Not sure, doesn't seem to take very long. I appreciate that's not a scientific arguement. It's also not immediate. Same when you warp with the fighters out or when they are assigned to you. They will come but it takes a touch longer.
- No, and this sucks. You can tell if they are fighting, following or idle, that's it.
- He can when they are with him. If he sets them after a target and the target warps away with fighters chasing he can't either.
- Yes, he can send them back or you can recall them yourself.
- No clue if they can be warp scrambled or are affected by bubbles.
- I think they finish their warp and then return to you.

Awesome
I can't wait to assign a bunch of fighters to a stupid alt in a shuttle and run it into a gate camp.

May I add, if the guy controlling the fighters dies, the fighters are abandoned in space. Thatll leave what, 100m of fighters to the demise of a few gatecampers ---------------------------

last i knew, if the gang mate controling them dies, they return to the carrier pilots control.
I know for damage messages they will say "<Fighter Type> belonging to <Carrier Pilot's Name> hits you for XX Damage." It does not matter who controls the fighters, the damage message says that from tests on TQ.
If it is true that if the gang mate they are assigned to dies that they become incapacitated then it really sucks.

Like the guy above me said the Fighters will return to the carrier if their assigned operator dies, cloaks, jumps out, etc. Well at least they should..
I still need to know if Fighters can be warp scrambled. Because if they can't it shouldn't be too difficult to keep them alive. The operator would need to keep an eye on the health of his assigned fighters during PvP.. if one is taking heavy damage he can simply send it back to the carrier.
Yes I'm mostly looking at Fighter survival since they're pretty costly. In essence you're shelling 20 million for a plated cruiser with MWD that can't be insured.

While on carrier questions:
Can I clone jump to a carrier while it is off-line (that is, pilot logged off? (This assumes that the carrier disappears in normal way when pilot logged off). I might want to do this before logging myself, so that I am in position next day.
If I am in carrier when pilot logs off, am I stuck until he logs on again? That is, if I clone jumped (as per previous question) and he doesn't log in for a week, am I stuck?
Sev
I saw a squirrel today jumping from one tree to another, the branch it landed on snapped. So the squirrel was on this falling branch, clambering like mad, thinking it was doing something about it.'

You can only clonejump to Mothership (the big carrier). You cannot jump to it while the pilot is off-line (has logged out)

You cannot technicaly be "in carrier". Refitting is the same as in POS (you are staying outside of carrier in your ship changing modules). While clone-jumping to a mothership you are choosing ship from it's hangar and appearing outside of mothership after a jump. You cannot be "stuck" inside of it.
